Is anybody doing a countdown calendar? I think we are going to make one that starts at 100 days. In the past the boys and I have made a really long chain with one construction paper link per day. We drape it all around our family room, and the boys take turns removing a link per day. Anybody have anything better they do? :confused3

We actually made a 60 day out calendar. We got a bunch of the Mickey notes from the scrap book store and two big poster boards that we taped together. We just wrote the numbers on the Mickey heads and decorated in the middle with a bunch of stickers. I will see if I can post pictures tomorrow. I am at work all day and then home for 20 minutes and back to work some more. Ugh!

NO, NO, NO!!!!!!

I just looked at the schedule for the Middle School band last year. (DS11 starts 6th grade this year.) Their Christmas Concert was on Monday, Dec. 7. :headache: That means that it will probably be during our trip this year... Dec 4-11. I just talked to DS and he asked me to please make sure he didn't miss it. :headache::headache::headache:

Looks like I might be changing our dates again.... He has band camp next week, so I'll wait until I talk to his teacher.

My DIS side is SCREAMING at me.... I have Le Cellier booked twice, and all our ADRs are perfect.... there is NO WAY I can get new ADRs when I would want them now.... :sad1: But MOMMY side knows that she will move the trip if she needs to. :flower3:

Sorry if I am the only one who has a mind that works this way, but when reading your post I started saying "This one time, at band camp..." in my head.

If it makes you feel any better, if you have to change your plans, you can be there the same time as me!:lmao:

I like that idea, I also found a website that has a cool twist on the chain. I have to work it out, but you can create a chain that has numbers on the outside, and trivia/fun facts/tips on the inside. You just copy and past the information into a word doc, but it seems like there is some manual manipulation involved.

Quick Question - since MK closes much earlier in December on the weekdays, will this plan still work for me?

MK - Wednesday Dec. 15th - wishes are at 8 and we hope to eat afterwards at Chef Mickeys. Since the park closes following wishes, will I be able to get back to Pop using the monorail back to MK to get on the Disney bus after finishing my meal?

You might, but what you can do it take the bus from CR to DTD and then back to Pop.

I am definitely going to make sure he doesn't hang out with the flute players!!! :lmao:

Thanks for the laugh! I'm freaking out here!!!!!

NOW - DS11 isn't willing to miss his band concert, which means I DO have to move the trip,

DS8 isn't willing to miss the church play which is the week after our trip,

AND DH has to go during the Candlelight Processional....:headache:

 LIGHTBULB.....

I think I've decided. I'm going WITHOUT my family! :rotfl:

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I have a really good friend who quotes that line all the time....I am laughing so hard right now. :lmao::lmao:

I have been bugging my dh to go back to the world since we got home after our last years Christmas trip. He finally agreed to go back again this December! I am so excited. I have our resort booked, split stay between SSR and Beach Club. We are going Dec. 15-23rd. Now I just need to order tickets and do a little planning. We are going to try the counter service dining plan this time around. I will admit I am kind of excited about not be tied to ADRs. I know, I know, the horror. :dance3:

We really wanted to try a different time of year but there was no availability the week we needed to go in October because of school schedules. (My inlaws give us DVC points each year.) We didn't want summer because of the heat and spring break doesn't work for us. So this will be our 3rd December trip in a row. We just love the weather this time of year and the atmosphere. Maybe next year I can get that fall break trip booked.

Oh, yeah, I am thinking we are going to surprise our 7 and 9 year old. Any good ideas on how to do it?

I just finished making a "Mystery to Solve" crossword puzzle with obscure Disney clues. I'm going to send my kids the puzzle in the mail and then send them clues one or two at a time. My friend is going to mail things for me so they won't know it's from me. :tiptoe:

Glad I could make you guys laugh. My brain is wired very strangely. I am constantly thinking of movie quotes, tv show quotes, or a song for just about anything anybody says. I try to blurt out the funny ones, but occasionally the stupid ones come out and I get some odd looks.

Sounds like a good plan. We keep threatening the kids telling them if they can't stop argueing (how do you spell that anyway) we will leave them behind and rent some kids in Florida.

yayyy! my DD15's school is being very cooperative about our trip! they are going to let her do all of her finals early so we can leave after school on friday, dec 17th. this means we'll be in orlando by sunday afternoon, on the 19th, at the latest. this opens up more 'playtime' for us, so i get to make more plans :rolleyes1

i have a question for you guys :). i'm trying to decide btwn 2 plans for the 19th. 1st ... go on the pirates and pals fireworks voyage OR 2nd ... buy tickets to the MVMCP. since our actual reservations are for the 21st thru the 29th, is it worth it to go to the MVMCP, or will we see pretty much everything there is to offer (besides the snow) during our stay? :confused3

We (DH and 2 kids) are doing the bahamas 3 night cruise and then spending 13 nights in Animal Kingdom Jambo house. This is the first time we have been to disney at christmas, so we are all very excited. We are from the UK and have brought into the DVC.

All tips (christmas or DVC) very welcome.
13 nights at AKL sounds heavenly! enjoy! do you own there? welcome to the club! :wizard:

Hey everyone!:surfweb:
Here's a link if you would like to see some of the Holiday Storytellers at Epcot's World Showcase last year!

We can't wait for our first Christmas trip to WDW December 15-21! :santa:
thank you so much for posting these!

thinking about something simple a month out. my son is almost 3, so he doesn't really quite get it all yet, but i figured it can be fun for me, right? :)

so anyone hear anything else about CP packages?

Planning on arriving on Dec 16th, one day after my 51st Bday. DW, DS 26, DS 22 and Granddaughter 5. Been to Disney several times but first Christmas time trip. Looking at staying at the All Star Music.

This just might work out even better than I hoped!

IF - I can talk DS into skipping his Church play (and I think I can), then we will just move our trip to Tues-Tues instead of Sat-Sat. That bumps us to the $49 flight (each way) that Southwest is having!!!!! Since we have a $930 credit we have to use before May, and we'll only be using $400.... I've checked and the kids have a Friday off school in October. The $49 fares are available that day, too. We could fly down for 1 night and do MNSSHP with the rest of the credit!!!!!:woohoo: I've never considered flying down for one night before, but it sure would be fun to go to both parties this year!!! :goodvibes

No fair, you get to do MNSSHP and MVMCP? I wish I lived in North Carolina. We would be going to Disney alot more often since it is only what, a 6 hour drive, or a $49 flight away.

Not a 6 hour drive, it takes at least 6 hours to get to Atlanta from where I live. I live in the Raleigh area and it takes about 10 hours or so.
