January is even better- much slower than December. December is becoming more popular and is always popular with the DVC crowd (low points to rent in Dec). December won't be like January, it is picking up more each year with all the discounts they offer. But i still enjoy it, even with slightly bigger crowds than there used to be, it is still pretty low crowds compared to summer for me. Plus the weather is so much better. with proper planning, fast pass, going early, you won't wait more than 20 minutes for anything. if you are the sleeping in type, that won't work though- gotta be the early bird to avoid the lines! lol

Yah we used to go every January and July. And july was so ridiculously busy! We loved going in January! December seems like its definitely getting more and more popular. And its def on the lower end for DVC points.. yippee! When I called to book in March there was not a whole lot left!

Im a great planner, lol. I have been to WDW plenty of times! Im set and ready
I am the sleeping in type.. but not in disney! Im up and ready to go by 8am!

Between the 2nd-3rd week of Dec. is great!:lovestruc Pop Warner leaves on the 12th so that helps a little as well. Last year we went 14-20th. The lines were very short and the weather was mild:); this is now my fave time to go. :love:We were supposed to leave on the 20th but there was a blizzard back home (D.C.) and the airports were closed so we go stranded for 2 extra days:banana::goodvibes We went to the Magic Kingdom on the 21st and could not believe how crowded it had gotten in just one day!:scared1: It was crazy.... so it looks like the "Christmas crowd" starts arriving around the 21-22of Dec. I really want to go back in Mar. next year but I've heard horror stories about the Spring Break crowd. Is anytime safe in March? Thanks! April

O.K to answer my own question..... I just looked at the crowd calendar...... it looks like the first week of March 2011 is great; spring break season does'nt start until the 12th:cool1: I've gotta get my trip booked! :goodvibes

We've been in early March before and it is wonderfull! It was my favorite trip ever!!! The lines were short and the weather was wonderful. We rented a boat and drove it from POR to Downtown Disney. It was so peaceful and beautiful and not too hot to be out on the water. :cloud9:

We were there last year from the 10th-15th of March and the crowds were way lower then what we were used to. There was a major cheer competition though and that was a mad house if you ended up at the park they were at. Plus it was college spring break time and nights on teh boardwalk and at Epcot were interesting. LOL We are going again this March right now DH and I are booked in a Club level studio at AKL from 7-12 but we are going to add the 6th and possibly the 5th at the Poly when AP rates for that time come out. So looks like we will be planning together again!

We are part of the deluxe dining group! But.....we have season passes and we go quite frequently, so missing out on park time isn't a huge deal to us. Our DD will have just turned 3 on our trip so it will be interesting to see how she does. We eat out at least twice a week, and we have never had an issue with her misbehaving while in a restaurant, so I'm not concerned about that. We will be ther for 6 days and 5 nights. Most days we will only be doing 2 sit down meals, and there are only 2 days where we have 3 sit downs booked (and they are quite spaced apart). This will be our first time on the DxDP and we are quite excited!

Yeaaaa! That sounds great! Thanks so much for the boat idea... that sounds like alot of fun!:woohoo:

I'm happy to hear of the low crowds, the crowd calendar has the cheer competition starting on the April 22 2011, and all of those days are 9's and 10's!:scared1::lmao: Looks Like the first week of march is great! Thanks!

So if they offer free dining in december - that is only the quick service, correct? Can you and how much would it cost to upgrade to the next dining plan level with the table service included? And if you received a pin code for your hotel - you can't have two discounts right? :upsidedow

For the dining plan that's currently available for Aug 15 - Oct 2, it's the quick service for value resorts and the regular for moderates and deluxes, so I would imagine that if it's offered for December, it would probably work like that. You can upgrade and the cost would be the difference between the quick service plan and the regular plan, which is normally $10 per person per night. (I say "normally" because they charge $5 more for the regular plan during the last 2 weeks of December.) And you're correct, you can't combine discounts - you would have to figure out which is the better deal for you.

I get so excited when I know we are more then half way there. We have started our Gift card buying too. Since we are DVC we pay for the meal plan when we check in so we just grab a GC at the Disney store every time we go to pay for it. Plus I bought one of the kids tickets already. Now I just need to get 2 more. DH and I are AP holders so we are good to go already.

WOOOHOOOO

I love the fact that you can use GC's for everything! I get one for each trip and then every couple weeks I take DS to the Disney store and we put more money on our card. It helps me save for the trip, plus I end up buying little things for DS, and then when he goes to daycare, I take them and put them away so that when we go on our trip they will be new again! Saves money in the long run, I don't have to buy as many souvenirs!

I never realized you could add more money to the card. DUHHHH I always end up with a ton of GCs. We normally get one per TS that we will pay OOP for so I can just grab one from the safe in the am to pay for our meal and not worry about carrying a bunch of them. But it would make more sense to have one larger one to pay for the meal plan instead of a bunch of $200 gcs. I'll have to remember to bring one with me to add to. Thanks for letting me know that!

You can also have the gift card(s) applied to your room at check in and "room charge" everything. It does make you lose track a little more as you sign away (which I guess is part of why Disney doesn't mind) but than you don't have to carry the cards with you
