thank you for the official info! can't wait for December hours so i can firm up our plans and ADRS!!!!

Advance Purchase: $57.46 for adults 10 and older / $51.07 for ages 3-9 (Not available December 7, 10, 12, 17 or 19) ????

Does this mean all those days in December are sold out already? Why no advance purchase available for those days?
i assume they simply mean you cannot purchase those dates in advance for some reason- not sure why? It isn't sold out yet, tickets just went on sale. early december dates typically don't sell out (except maybe weekends). And then they don't sell out until much closer to December.

Doesn't it just mean there is no Advance Purchase discount for those dates? I don't think they mean you cannot buy tickets in advance for those dates.

So excited to see the tickets are officially on sale! Now we can start planning (well, we've been planning, but now it's serious)! We LOVE going to Disney during December, and this year will be no exception.

We were soo close to booking our first Disney cruise in December 2010. But, as of yesterday, we've decided to just do our regular WDW vacation (unless some crazy cruise deal comes up). For us, it came down to cancellation policy and vacation insurance issues. Just not ready to commit to a cruise and being locked into it during flu season and icy weather. So WDW, here we come!! So excited!!
welcome to the Dec club then!!! I can't wait to cruise again though too. :)

Has anyone called to check to see if you can get the advance purchase discount for the Dec dates? This is the first year we will be able to go we normally always get there the day after the last party. So now I am thinking about buying us tickets. But I already want to do the Pirate Fireworks cruise and wishes dessert party if its available. So thats a lot of $$ already.

What to do what to do?
tough question- i know it adds up fast, doesn't it??? it really is a lot of money! the pirates fireworks cruise looks really cool too- i want to try it sometime. We did enjoy the WISHES dessert party (and DH mentioned doing it again this trip too). I'd say if you get 2 out of 3, you are doing good! do you plan to go back in December again anytime soon? if not, then maybe you should do MVMCP and saave one of the other things for another trip/time?

As of this morning, ticket sales are now up on Disney's website (go to WDW homepage, select Parks --> Buy Park Tickets -->choose Special Events from drop-down menu). Advance Purchase tickets are available on select dates. There are some dates in December that do not offer Advance Purchase rates because of the popularity of those days.

Happy planning everyone! We do MVMCP every year and love it!!
woo hoo! thank you for posting it is up now!

Is Tuesday a good night of the week to go?
Tuesday is a fantastic night to go. we typically try for a tuesday, it seems like lower crowds. this year we are doing a thursday though (12/9).

Wait, we dont have to use our ticket that day? let me see if I have this right...If we were going to get 7 day magic your way tickets but we really want to do the MVMCP, then we can ditch one of those days and do something else during the day and just go to MK that night? I thought it had to be added onto a MYW Ticket.
Your MVMCP ticket will get you access to the Magic Kingdom starting at 4pm usually. You won't need another park ticket unless you plan to visit another park or the MK prior to 4pm. Many people that don't have length of stay tickets will just hang at the hotel, swim, do downtown disney or resort hop that am or do a character breakfast in one of the resorts (no park admission required) then head to the MK at 4pm- use their ticket to get in, enjoy a few hours before the party (including the castle lights show at dusk) and then enjoy the party without having to use their regular tickets.

we will have an 8 day hopper, so the difference between a 7 and 8 day hopper was only a few bucks each, so we just took the 8, so we can still do a park the am of MVMCP if we want.

We decided to visit the park during Christmas time (22nd-29th) for a couple of reasons.

1. We have never gone anywhere for Christmas.
2. We wanted to see the park during a holiday that is truly special to our family (the birth of Christ).

This month is really the first month I have caught the fever though.

Forgot, we are staying at the Contemporary Resort in the New Tower.
woo hoo- we are at BLT too- our first trip 'home'!

My best friend and I will be attending the party on the 14th, too! :thumbsup2

Well we go every Dec for Christmas so I will have the chance again. This is our 3rd year going and we go for the same week and so far this is the first one that has a Party while we are there. So if you had to chose between the Dessert Party and MVMCP which would you chose?

Now last year we saw the holida parade they had at the party and we saw Holiday Wishes since the week after the party they show them. So we will have the chance to see them the rest of the time we are there.

It depends. We like doing MVMCP so that we don't have to buy park tickets for that day. So if you could save money by just doing the MVMCP on a particular day, then I would go for that. But if you will already have a package that includes park tickets for every day, then I would opt to add the cheaper dessert party onto it instead of MVMCP.

Well DH and I have APs so it would save us the money of buying a park day for the kids but it would cost us for the ticket. The day difference though for the kids is way less then teh tickets. UGHHH way too many decisions LOL

You can purchase tickets for those days in advance, but you do not get a discount. I assume because those are considered 'prime' nights to go.

hm...true, if you can see the holiday parade and holiday wishes, then maybe i would skip MVMCP, unless you simply really want/need the additional park hours at MK. if you think you'll have enough MK time otherwise, then go for the dessert party this time.

we don't really see all the other shows at MVMCP (toddler won't sit through them!), we simply enjoy riding all the rides with no lines while the first parade is going on, then we catch the fireworks and second parade. and we like the free goodies too. for us, since it is early dec and there are limited MK park hours, it also gives us a chance to get in a little more MK time.

so try the dessert party- and you can always do MVMCP next year?

ATTENTION ALL

I have updated the DEC Trippers list on page 17.
I've added a link in my signature to it as well, so you can find it easily. I've also added the MVMCP dates at the end of each line - so if you going to MVMCP, post up your date and I'll add that too. I know I am already planning to meet up with two other families from my DISboards moms thread that are going on 12/9 too!!

Let me know if I missed anyone and be sure to check out everyone's PRE TRIP REPORTS too!!;):santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa:

I saw on Disney's website where you could purchase the tickets right now. We wanted to go on December 7...I wonder why a Tuesday would be considered a "prime" night. I thought the Thursday of that week would be busier, therefore the decision to go on Tuesday. I might just pay the extra $7 because I honestly think Thursday is going to be more packed.

(Unless that means there is something special going on that night that would require extra pay, but I somehow doubt that).

We are planning on doing MVMCP December 9th, but I'm waiting for the December hours and Candlelight Processional list to come out before we finalize everything.

I KNOW! Has anyone said when they might be releasing the December hours? Since November was this month, can we assume December will be at the beginning/middle of May?

It's wishful thinking, but I'm hoping for tomorrow, May 1st!

This is a great thread! It's taking me a while to catch up on all the posts.

We've never been anywhere at Christmas. DH finds it hard to get away at that time of year.

I find myself wanting to do EVERYTHING!

Will my children (8 & 10) enjoy the Candlelight Processional? and the Osbourne lights at DHS?

I think your children would really enjoy both. For DHS, the lights are obviously a free attraction once you are in the parks. It is also a relatively short light show.

As for the Candlelight Processional, it's a seated show that includes a reading of the Christmas story and Christmas music. I've viewed the show from outside the theater before (for free), but am hoping to get a paid Candlelight package this year in order to get a seat. At your children's ages, they should be able to sit entertained throughout the performance. I'll have a 5 year old and 2 year old this year, but I'm willing to try anyway!

My kids were 7,8,and 9 last year and they LOVED Osbourne lights. It was the coolest thing ever to see. They just stood there and they were in total awe. We've never done Candelight Processional so I have no advice about that one. All I can say is if you are not getting a CP package get there early the lines last year were huge a few hours before.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the input! I just thought it would be a really nice "Christmasy" thing to do but I didn't want the kids to be disappointed. I am planning to do the dinner package so we have seats. My kids both have really good attention spans so sitting through a show shouldn't be a problem.

We are purchasing tickets for MVMCP for Tues, Dec 7. I am also hoping that since Thursday night is cheaper, that more people will go that night instead.

We are headed to Wilderness Lodge from Nov 27 to Dec. 2nd. Can't wait. It will be our first time at the lodge and my son's first trip overall. He will be 2 and my daughter will be 6. My wife and I took her in 2006 when she was 2 and she had a blast even though she was so young. I think our son will enjoy it even more since he gets to run around with his big sister.

I am now just hoping they release free dining through the fall/early winter like they did last year. We already booked with dining, but it will be nice to use that $500 plus for other things at Disney or a room upgrade. We arrive on the Saturday night after Thanksgiving. The first night is higher priced and then the rest of the nights are value priced. Does anyone know what the excluded dates or the effective dates were last year when free dining was extending through some of December? I am just hoping our check in date does not fall on an excluded date oustide the offer (assuming they offer it again). I think I would have to book the first night room only then and then rebook my package with the tickets and dining starting the second day & night in order to take advantage of free dining if it is offered.

If any one knows the Nov. Dec. dates extended for free dining in 2009 (around July) let me know.

Thanks.

Do you know what dates FD was offered in Dec. last year?
