Hello everyone! This is my first Disney trip since I was a child. My DH, DD(7) and DS (5) are coming. I am so happy to see a thread for Dec 08 trips! Yeah, it means things are getting closer. I need help, please!!!

I can't decide which moderate resort to stay at? I am leaning towards POFQ because it is compact, bus to DTD and the kids like the pictures of the pool. I keep going back and forth and driving myself crazy. I want to book the trip next week with AAA and need to make a decision. Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't rmber if I sub already so I am doing it again just to make sure!:goodvibes

I can't decide which resort, POFQ or WL? The WL is more expensive but I think my DS would love the boat rides to MK (I know FQ has boat to DTD as well). I keep going back and forth and driving myself crazy. I want to book the trip next week with AAA and need to make a decision. Any advice would be appreciated.

A word of warning: when I went to book WL a couple of months ago for Dec 6-13, all the AAA rate rooms were gone ...:sad2: so you may want to give them a call and check on availability ...

... so we ended up at my 2nd (but the DW's 1st) choice: AKL (guess I'll have to "suffer" ... :rotfl2: )

We stayed at POFQ last May and loved it ... small, quiet, great bus service, and a pool that you have to drag the kids out of ...

BTW - the DD wants to say "hi" ... :bride: (and use this smilie ... :rotfl:)

There seems to be lots of booked rooms for early December. We ended up with a reservation at Saratoga Springs for part of our Honeymoon. I've got to decide where to stay the first 3 nights though.

Guess I'll go ahead and book those nights now and rebook if good rates come out later.

Thank you very much for the advice! I have realized that we probably can't afford the WL so will do POR or POFQ. I am leaning towards FQ. Tell your DD that I loved the smiley face!

We (Golf4food & Tazicket) are currently booked for POR for Dec 3-7th. We will change to WL if a room becomes available (nothing but club level left so far for the first two weeks of December. Rats. Or is it mice? No, mice would be good at WDW, so definitely still - rats. :) )

MVMCP - Dec 4th

I thought I'd signed in to this thread, but I guess not.

We'll be there Dec. 7-13. We've done MVMCP twice before, but have decided not to do it again - for many reasons.

I'm starting to worry. They still haven't posted November hours. I wonder how long it will take them to post December hours.

Not so patiently waiting. :surfweb:

I remember playing this waiting game for our first trip in 05; if I remember correctly DEC hours will come out just before the 6 month mark so send of May beginning of JUNE. Try using 2007 hours as a guide they are usually pretty close; just remember DEC calender is screwy this year because Thanksgiving is late.

Just because November times aren't out doesn't mean December hours won't come out on time, cheer up :goodvibes They should be available June 1st at the earliest. When I did my first December trip, I had to go back and change a few things, but had no trouble even later in the fall.

It is hard to decide what to do without the calendar out yet. They should release it earlier. OHHH is is all so confusing

Suzanne

I'm glad I am not the only one who can't plan without the calendar.
I have to make my ADR's in less than 2 weeks and I am having a hard time deciding what to do when
Do I want MVMCP on Sunday the 30th which is DS's actual Bday or do I want a less crowded weekday - Dec 2 or 4?

Waited 30 minutes but booked for Dec 7th

Tried to book the WL Sleigh Ride, however it is not in there system as of yet. The CMtold me to call back frequently cause they are not sure of when it will be posted. Anyone have any more info on the WL Sleigh Ride?

I want to do the Sleigh Ride too. What other holiday things does everyone have planned?

There is a difference in the ticket prices for the 16th and the 18th----

MVMCP dates are: November 10,11,14,16,20,21,30
December 2,4,5,7,9,11,12,14,16,18,19

PREMIUM DATES ARE: Nov. 11,14,21
Dec. 4,5,11,12,14,18,19

PREMIUM DATE PRICES: $55.94 Ages 10 & up
$49.95 Ages 3-9

PRICES FOR ALL OTHER DATES: $48.95 Ages 10 & up
$42.95 Ages 3-9

Prices do not include tax !!

Hope that helps!!

What is the differance between premium dates and regular dates? Do they do something different that night?

What do you have planned so far?

There's a lot of brain power (more or less - isn't there? :rotfl: ) here abouts (is that one word or two words - or even English??) - so maybe we can give you a hand (or thirty ... :rotfl2: ) ...

You could also take a look at some of the PTRs from the folks going in December (me!! me!! :yay: ) to get some ideas ...

And really - I need to go do the :laundy: cuz we're going away this weekend and the DD has identified precisely what she wants to wear, soooo ... Later ...

I'll be checking out your PTR for ideas .... I started my own First Ever PTR too.

This is a quote from Robo (who is all-knowing!!) on the dates for Christmas Parade taping:

"• First weekend that has at least one day in December.
• It starts on Friday and continues thru that Saturday and, sometimes, Sunday.
• Only affects Main Street and Castle in MK
• Most guests seen in the parade crowd are pre-selected in advance by the parade producers.
They spend long hours watching the same 5 minutes of the event, over-and-over, as the cameras capture different angles of the same thing. Then, on to the next 5 minutes of event, over-and-over.

They shoot the show in the mornings, so if you go past Main Street, the rest of MK is pretty empty of guests until, say 2pm, when all of the parade watchers are finished for the day and come into the rest of MK. "

So I'm assuming the parade will be the weekend of Nov 30/Dec 1...right??

Dec 1 is a Monday so wouldn't it be the 5th, 6th and 7th?
is the concensus to stay away from MK on those days?

I'm sticking with Nov 28-30, but since Thanksgiving is Nov 27, I'm not sure. I won't be there then, can't deal with that mess and Pop Warner and Mousefest, that is just too much overload for me :scared1:

Suzanne

Okay you are scaring me!! What is Mousefest?

Add me to the list too, :)

This will be our first time going as a family... gonna be there from Nov 28th through Dec 6th.

Celebrating both my dd's birthdays while we're there... older dd will be turning 8 on Nov 28th, and younger dd will be turning 6 just a few days after we get back home.... so gonna do something special for her on the last day.

Can't wait!! :santa:

We'll be there the same exact dates ... and celebrating DS's 6th Bday (Nov 30) too!! staying at Pop Century

With or without parks hours, I have made a tentative schedule based on the UG crowd levels and I doubt it will change much, because it didn't last time I did it that way. It will be easier to have this done and change it, then to start with whatever is left when the official schedule comes out. Besides, that calendar is subject to change up to and including that day.

Here's hoping it comes out on time pixiedust:

Suzanne

When you say you consult the UG crowd levels do you mean the chart in the book or online? Can the online charts get updated as you get closer to the dates.

Right now 3 of us have AP's and a 4th may have one shortly.

Suzanne

I am planning on getting the AP's too. Is it true that it only expires 1 year from the day you activate it at a park? or is it one year from the day you buy it? Also if i get it now can I go online and sign in as a pass holder before I activate it? Anyone know?

I've been using this for Dec 2007 park hours
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dec07.cfm

this is great -- just for kicks I am going to look up Oct 2007 and compare it to 2008 to see if it is the same.

I am hoping to be able to plan a trip in December. It will either be the week of the 7-14 or 14-21. I'm guessing the 7-21 may be less crowded is that right?

If we do one night of the MVMCP that would then cover the fireworks and nighttime parade right? I see there is some fear about the hours coming out. But I can plan a MVMCP and be sure to see the parade and fireworks that night.

Any other advice for going in early December? I haven't been in December since I was little. I'm very excited about getting to see all the decorations and stuff. I want to take it a little easier than our last trip but I want to maximize our time to an extent as well. We usually do both dinner shows and eat at a couple of signature dining places. This trip I really want to do fantasmic and will probably do the package for that. I may try to do the package for the Christmas celebration in Epcot as well, if I can. (I'd love to get LeCellier but that's supposed to be tough)

I want this trip to be great. We were supposed to go in May, last week actually, but had to cancel. I had called at the 180 day and got the best dining reservations. Castle breakfast at 8:05, LeCellier and several others at great times. It seems that it will be even harder to plan this one.

I did finally figure out my schedule, but as I have said, that might change later.

Do I want MVMCP on Sunday the 30th which is DS's actual Bday or do I want a less crowded weekday - Dec 2 or 4?

We chose a Sunday because we thought it would be less crowded, since locals will be home getting ready for the work week ahead.

I want to do the Sleigh Ride too. What other holiday things does everyone have planned?

What is the differance between premium dates and regular dates? Do they do something different that night?

No, the only difference is the price is higher for Premium nights and I am hoping that means less people there. In the past these were more crowded nights

I'll be checking out your PTR for ideas .... I started my own First Ever PTR too.

Dec 1 is a Monday so wouldn't it be the 5th, 6th and 7th?

I really don't know what dates it is going to be this year, but I would definitely stay away from MK on those dates

Okay you are scaring me!! What is Mousefest?

Mousefest is an International gathering of Mouse fans. Personally I would be more afraid of Pop Warner, that is a little league type event and those kids can get kinda out of hand in the evenings

We'll be there the same exact dates ... and celebrating DS's 6th Bday (Nov 30) too!! staying at Pop Century

When you say you consult the UG crowd levels do you mean the chart in the book or online? Can the online charts get updated as you get closer to the dates.

I used the chart online and I don't know if they change them or not. Once I print them out I don't go back and look again

I am planning on getting the AP's too. Is it true that it only expires 1 year from the day you activate it at a park? or is it one year from the day you buy it? Also if i get it now can I go online and sign in as a pass holder before I activate it? Anyone know?

Right, they expire 1 years from the date that you turn in your voucher, unless you purchase them at the park, then they are good one year from the date of purchase. If you get the voucher, yes, you can log on the passholder site

this is great -- just for kicks I am going to look up Oct 2007 and compare it to 2008 to see if it is the same.

HTH,
Suzanne

My friends and I will be at Coronado Springs from 12/5-12/12, and at MVMCP on 12/9. I can't wait!!!!!! :cool1:
