Keo's issue seems to be that he lets his partners get by with just enough practice to be okay but not great, then on performance night, overdances and tries to pull focus away from the celeb and on to him.
Yes, it's the WAY he dances, not that he does more complicated steps. He dances to crisp and precisely. It's obvious he's the pro of the couple.
When you compare him to the way Peta danced tonight with Doug, while, yes, she had more complicated steps, did a couple extra twirls to fill in for the fact that Doug can't do much, she matches his steps better and what he can do. I can't come up with a good word, she dances more "casually" as it were, to partner and match with Doug, at somewhat his level. When she dances in the troupe numbers, it's quite evident then how crisp, clean, precise & showy she can dance and can shine when she has a solo section. She just doesn't dance that way when she's partnering with a star. Cheryl Burke did the same thing, so did Derek.
I like Doug but he's the weakest dancer and should be next to go.
