Official Dancing With the Stars: Season 18

well, that's my point. There is no 'bashing' going on, passive aggressive or otherwise.

There's always a rush to paint those with a different viewpoint as "haters".

I agree about wanting to vote for the dance and not for the dancer. I could care less what your world view is, the question for me is, are you a good dancer. In this case, the best dancers are not in the final and that is a shame.

She is one heck of an actress than, to pull off a whole bedroom scene dance with Maks in front of her parents and national tv. So much for painfully shy during that routine.

Well speaking from my own personal experience it is totally a possibility. I was crazy, painfully shy growing up, but I was also a competitive dancer. The dance floor was the only place I didn't feel shy because you don't have to talk to anyone, it's you, the music and your partner/teammates. Being shy just doesn't come into play, you just put all of yourself into the dance and everything else around you fades away into the back round. It was the place I felt most comfortable, I would much father be in front a huge audience dancing then a party with my peers, because the latter would have been much more difficult for me.

For me dancers like Candace and others like her is what the show is about. What's the point of having experienced dancers on the show, other than ratings of course. It's nice to see someone improve. Meryl and Charlie have been dancing most of their lives, and daily.

I really like Candace and think she's done a great job! I didn't like her freestyle though, it just wasn't very good.

At first I was all about Meryl having an unfair advantage..blah....blah....but she won me over. Her dances have just been so beautiful, really amazing. Plus I read online that Maks said she's been dancing with 2 broken toes and its been reported she sick with a food poisoning like illness yesterday. Neither of which she has mentioned on the show and I really respect that. Plus, her and Charlie have been balancing the Stars on Ice tour with Dancing the whole time. That to me, erases any advantage they had.

I was so glad to see someone with personal experience say this. I can understand how a shy person can be a great performer.

Sure Meryl has ICE DANCING experience, that helped her with DWTS but ballroom & ice dancing are not the same. She probably had to unlearn some things to do ballroom & Latin & all the other styles. I think she has improved over the season.

I have voted for stars that I liked who weren't the best dancers but only the first couple of weeks. At some point I start to vote for the best dance or performance but that's just me. I think Candace has improved but so did Danica & James & Charlie.

Whatever dance they do tonight the judges will not change the order from last night. Even if they know who won the audience vote. They made their feelings known when they gave Candace "8's" for her freestyle. They might give her higher scores tonight but she will still be in third place, Amy in second & Meryl in first. At this point it's the audience votes that should decide the outcome.

Except she doesn't dance for a living... she skates. There's a big difference between the two. There are only 2 dancing advantages that I see she has over most of the others.. 1. She has the ability to feel the music better and 2. she can turn without getting dizzy. Granted, they are pretty big advantages, but she's not a ballroom dancer. Just because someone does choreography, doesn't make them a ringer.

Athletes, in general, do better in DWTS because they're used to long periods of physical training, they tend to be more limber, and they're used to being in front of large crowds doing what they do for a live audience. They know there can be no second takes.

I don't see Meryl as someone who loves herself too much. She seems way more grounded than most other celebrities. I haven't seen one clip where she's pandered for votes or done anything to say 'poor me, I deserve this.'

I am another Meryl convert. She has won me over. She seems very genuine and sweet, actually. I thought I would dislike her and her advantage, but over the season, she has become my clear favorite. I wouldn't be terribly upset if Derek and his partner won, but JUST NOT CANDACE. Ugh. I took the unusual step of voting for Meryl...have not voted before.

But you're looking at it as though it is an actual dance competition, which it isn't. It's an entertainment show and people are voting to keep in their favorites. Now, whatever criteria they use to pick their favorite is up to them. For some, it is dance ability. For other's, it might be how the person has improved. Some might choose their favorite based solely on who their partner is. Candace absolutely should be in the finals because she, as well as Amy and Meryl, met the criteria that gave her the highest score between judges scores and fan votes.

Not an actress. She's found a place, performance, where another part of her can come out.

And different people bring different sides out of people. To me, that is the beauty of life.

Many people are like that. Myself included. I am a introvert yet there are places where you wouldn't know that in the least. One is a dance floor.

Beyonce's parents talked about their utter shock that that was their daughter on stage one of the first times they saw her in performance as a child. She was painfully shy as well but became something very different up there.

I understand that part.

As for Meryl, I love the parts that Maks seems to have brought out in her, and vice versa. When I used to see her skate and talk, and this sounds really awful and I truly don't mean it to be - truly, but she almost came across as not human to me. Can't put my finger on it, but it was strange reaction I had to her. Just something about her.

Anyway, she is completely different on this show. Much more relaxed and open. I have loved watching them both and hope they win.

When the season started, I felt that it was really crazy to have Meryl and Charlie up against everyone else. I loved them in the Olympics, but felt they truly had an advantage. I also loved Charlie's personality, but thought Meryl seemed full of herself. I have completely changed my thinking! I am rooting for Meryl to win. I now believe she is actually shy and it just came across as conceited. She seems sweet, and her dancing has been exceptional! I also hope Max finally gets the win, I am so over Derek always winning. I, too, agree that Amy has not really done a lot of dancing. The skills that she and Meryl have shown just aren't really in the same league. So.....I am hoping for a Maks and Meryl win...and I hope they become a couple once the show is over.

I'm another who kind of...resented...the ringers. I've really enjoyed seeing people progress through the weeks and that's harder to see when you have someone with performance experience.

I was not super thrilled with Meryl and Charlie as contestants, but Meryl and Maks have been amazing to watch. He's been able to plumb her emotional range FAR beyond what she brought to the ice with Charlie. I can't wait to see how this will influence her ice dancing going forward.
I admit it. My eyes were definitely misty after watching M&M's freestyle. I was carried away by it and have lost that little niggle about her ringer status.

I'm not a fan of Candace, but felt sorry for her and that gold monstrosity. None of it showcased her abilities, the music was bad, weird choreography, and awful costumes.
I didn't like James and Peta's either. Just seemed frenetic.
