Official Dancing With the Stars, season 16 thread

Did Dorothy hurt herself practicing for this, or did she have a prior back problem? Or both? I missed it somewhere along the way.

She said yesterday that they found a hidden cyst over a nerve that may have been there all along. But, the dancing uncovered it.

I thought that was weird as well, my only thought is she was hoping to get voted off.

If it was reported earlier on ET, then she probably told the show earlier and they wanted to go down to the bottom two, so everyone would know who could have gone home instead.

So glad this thread is here. I have a class Tuesday night and set the TV to record but DH changed the channel so I got an hour of basketball. At least it was the end of a game I wanted to watch. Now I can come here to find out who is out.

I feel really bad about Dorothy. I grew up loving her and still do. She's absolutely beautiful and such a classy lady. She is so graceful and I was so looking forward to seeing her dance :(

Glad she left before she really hurt herself or did permanent damage. She is also doing Stars on Ice at the same time...wonder if she had to pull out of that as well?

Poor Tristan. When will they give him someone young? I really wanted to keep him on longer!

Interesting that the bottom 3 were all "Stars" with new professionals. Of course, they were all pretty bad so maybe that was more of a factor but I think it does speak a little to how the pros have developed their own voting fan bases too.

So sad about Dorothy, I really enjoyed seeing her on the show but it would be a shame if she had done some real damage to herself.

I am excited for the Prom theme next week!

Yay for Dorothy. :)

ETA: whoa nevermind. She just removed herself. Weird she went through the elimination process first though.

She was no doubt instructed to do this. The only purpose of any show is to keep the viewers (eyeballs) watching till the end. If they drop off before the end of the show, the advertisers at the end will not been seen. This guaranteed the show's viewership till the elimination.

Just heard an radio interview with DL Hughley. He was very emotional, almost strangely so. A syndicated radio host hosted a viewing party for him on DWTS and needless to say he was a laughing stock after the first show. Seriously, I think this radio station is the oNLY reason he's lived to see another day.

He went on and on about he's "not a punk" and he's going to do this even though the judges are "unfair". After all, he NEVER danced before. :rolleyes2 Did he think the show was called "Telling Jokes with the Stars"????? :confused3

Are they really revealing the bottom three, or are they just still in jeopardy?

When Tom said that they had just confirmed something during the commercial break and asked Dorothy and Tristan to come back out, I actually thought he was going to say that they miscalculated and that they were still in danger or possibly even the couple going home. I was already getting really angry as that would have just been a cruel thing to do. Sad to see them go, though, no matter the circumstances. I completely understand her reasoning, though. DWTS is hardly worth risking permanent injury.

It makes me sad to Tristan, though, because it is my understanding that the pros get paid based on how long they stay in the competition. They are out through absolutely no fault of his own. And he's such a sweetheart, too.:sad1:

Don't cry for Tristan, he's sure to make more in this week of DWTS than in much of anything else he dances for. Plus he'll undoubtedly be called back for pro dances and he'll get paid for those, too. Just being on the show is great marketing, too!:thumbsup2

I liked Andy & Sharna's dance. Loved their outfits! He's so funny, I hope he stays in it awhile.

I'm liking Jacoby. He has a lot of personality.

Why is it that every time the camera pans past Zendaya, she does the duck lips with the hand gestures?

This is true! Though a lot of these dancers make income elsewhere due to the show. For example Maks/Tony/Val have Dance Schools together, Hightower has a deal with Reebok, etc.

Derek and Julianne Hough just did a deal for a possible new show about dancing and the behind the scenes aspect with Starz.

My favorite this season is Andy. He may not be the greatest dancer but in my opinion he is underscored.

I believe Pickler will win it, and the two other finalsts will be the Football star and the Disney kid who is the ringer of the season.

Dorothy has mentioned on some talk show that Stars on Ice ended right before DWTS started. So she had like one less week to rehearse than everyone else.

As voluntary "thread secretary,":teacher: when I post "Bottom Two" it's because I heard Tom say they are the Bottom Two. When I post that they are "Last Two" it means that they were the last two but not necessarily the Bottom Two. :)

....and how boring is Sean? :crazy2:

...I kinda of like the dancers that HAVE NO background in dance.

...oh yes, ITA....I barely could stomach him on The Bachelor [BTW, thanks AGAIN, Imzadi! ] and this is not making me see him in a better light...

I don't even know who to root for tonight now that Dorothy is gone. :sad1: No one else wows me. :(
