I do wonder how close the final tally was and if the points they lost for that Quickstep could have made a difference. I guess we'll never know.

But will they let the pros know? To me, that is much more important. Maybe, if they tell Derek that they would have won had Len given him a 9 instead of an 8.5, he will understand the importance of following the rules. In my opinion, Derek is the most gifted choreographer on the show. He didn't need to break the rules to make the dance amazing. Maybe he will take this as a sign that he should just stick with the rules of each of the dances and that he will do better if he does that.

I think Gilles Bollywood dance was his best dance this season.

I also loved seeing all the stars dance again! Way more fun than a regular results show! I also think Gilles' Bollywood dance was his best dance of the season, and perhaps THE best dance of the season, due to the fact it was such an "unknown" style of dance, and so much of it was danced side by side (so hard to get everything perfectly in sync and look the same!). I can't think of another star who would have nailed it (maybe Shawn).

I enjoyed watching the "instant dances", but wow, Melissa's was by far the worse. I thought the judges waaay overscored her. Shawn's was definitely the best.

I'm okay with Melissa winning overall, although I think Shawn is a better dancer. My "ideal final 3" would probably have been:
1. Gilles
2. Shawn
3. Melissa

Yes, DEF Shawn and Derek should truly have been the winners.

I like Melissa... But, really, every single one of her dances were all exactly the same. Over and over... Week after week. No matter what the style/genre. She is, of course, VERY good, but IMHO the only thing that she had going for her were her almost disformed abnormally long legs and barbie-esque stature/physique.

Except for the first few weeks... Shawn out danced her... WAY out danced her.. And showed WAY more originality, way more emotion and interpretation. (where Melissa was always, always, always, limited to her big toothy grin and those legs and that whole 'cheerleader' thing)

I think that Shawn and Derek knew that they might be throwing the competition!!! How could they not. Shawn is already a champion. And, of course, Derek as well. I think the producers were going for a Melissa-Tony win... And they got it.

Of course, all is well that ends well!!!

But, there is no denying that Shawn was the better of the two.
And, it goes without saying that Derek is the better of the two Pros. Hands down.. Many times over.

I applaud Shawn and Derek for how they have handled the results!!!!!!

I find Derek's over the top style, very unappealing to watch. I find Tony much more enjoyable. I find that Shawn, although technically excellent, lacks the other dimension that Melissa has. She is almost robotic. So no, I think the correct people won.

Just goes to show how differently people can view the same performances. I thought the correct couple won, based strictly on the dance ability. Shawn did a lot of tricks, but that isn't dancing. That's gymnastics. Everyone of her dances had the gymnastics element to it. Melissa danced. Did not rely on tricks. And, I am so over Derek that it isn't funny. Tony is every bit as good as Derek, but has been stuck with a hideous string of non-dancing partners. Derek has NEVER had a Kate Gosselin. When he gets one, if ever, I might believe his hype.

I agree. I don't think they should have allowed the Olympic Gymnastic Team to appear with Shawn on the final. It's dancing, not gymnastics. I always thought Shawn's dancing looked like gymnastics floor exercises.
