Flying into San Diego?

Hi!
Very excited to be planning a visit to Disneyland in December! I am a Disney World girl and have an annual pass there, so Disneyland will be a new experience.

Thinking of flying into San Diego and exploring that area for a day and then driving to Anaheim. Any experiences driving from San Diego to Anaheim? Any advice on that?

Any recommendations on places to stay in San Diego?
