I totally loved "Deep Cover". A really really good episode.
First, the quotes:
Lanie: OK, you two creep me out when you do that shared brain thing
Castle: How about we have a winter wedding?
Beckett: Didn't we say we wanted to do it outside?
Castle: Oh, right. Frostbite isn't very festive.
Martha: A little unsolicited advice.
Castle: Do you give another kind?
Martha: In life there is no such thing as a perfect time for anything
Hunt: You're getting emotional and now's not the time.
Castle: Really cause it's been about 40 years. When would be a good time?
Castle: I keep making the mistake of thinking he's family but he's not. You are.
loved:
when Rick & Kate discussed wedding dates. Loved her grabbing his butt, loved her "Goldilocks zone" of September (not too hot, not too cold), loved Martha telling them how adorable they are, love them not wanting to elope.
loved the conversation between Rick & Kate about how 'flexible' she is, how Espo wanted to know what they were talking about, Rick first telling him what, then telling him I'll tell you later, Beckett saying no, Rick saying no.
Ryan's return from paternity leave - Kate saying that Sarah Grace looks like Espo, and Ryan's response to that.
the scene when Beckett is questioning "Anderson Cross". Rick is there but he isn't there. You could see Beckett was wondering what the heck was going on. And then when she asked him if she had ever met him? Ohhhhh! And later, when Beckett is trying to get Rick to throw out some theories, but he doesn't bite - she must have been worried about him.
the bullet removal scene - from Rick mentioning the only thing he knows about surgery is the board game where the guy's nose lights up if you make a mistake" to Hunt telling Rick to take a drink, to Martha wiping Rick's brow like he's really a surgeon, to Hunt telling Rick to "not make my nose light up" and "now that you've done it the wrong way, let's try the other" it was a little bit of funny in a serious situation. The first time Rick does something with both his parents, and it's removing a bullet from his dad's side.
when Kate arrives at the loft & Castle introduces her to her "future father-in-law". A lot of people thought he told Kate about his dad last year, but I guess he didn't.
the hug Rick gets from his dad - the look on Rick's face (but then later he learns what really happened then)
Rick & Kate working together in the library -their conversation about Star Trek 2 - The Wrath of Khan. Loved the sci-fi geek moment between the 2 of them!
Rick & Kate's conversation at the precinct, when Castle talks about how his dad moved the body and she says that maybe his dad wanted to see him. It was interesting to me that Kate said that to him. And then him saying "September, we're getting married in September" When she asks about his book tour, he just says "screw it", kisses her on her head and leaves. Loved her girlie moment - the little yay & the clapping & the sway. Maybe Katie Beckett did cut wedding dress pictures out of magazines after all.
And the best scene of the night for me: Rick & Martha at the end! Nathan Fillion and Susan Sullivan just were perfect in that scene. Loved that Martha felt that Hunt gave her a gift: Rick, and that now she knows he's not the one who got away. It's a little sadder for Rick - he must feel that he was better off not knowing who his dad was. But he's got his mom, his daughter and now his wife-to-be.
All in all, that was one of my favorite episodes. And in my opinion, they never have to show Hunt again (but it won't surprise me if he pops up somewhere near the wedding)....
