Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

I knew that RC would do that with the schedule. Attaboy, Rick.

However, I've got to say that I don't like that dress. The lace? Absolutely; it's exquisite. However, I *hate* the combination of organza and taffeta for open-front overskirts on sheath wedding gowns. In typical wedding photos, gathered overskirts in stiff fabrics added to a straight-skirted design make you look horribly hip-py -- and yes, it can even do it to someone built like SK, unless the overskirt is cut on the bias and into a train a mile long. Besides that, wide overskirts (as opposed to wide skirts) look better on shorter women; tall ones will tend to look oddly out of proportion in them. The lightweight stiff fabrics have one other major shortcoming for the Caskett wedding they have been hinting at: it blows all over to heck and gone if wind gets under it.

Now, the lace sheath dress WITHOUT the overskirt? That, I'd like. (Couldn't be because that would almost be a MUCH more expensive duplicate of the one I wore, now could it? ;) It wasn't bullion lace, of course; mine was
candelight point d'Alençon with a nude double lining of chiffon over georgette. I got married in the early 90's; and I had to design it myself, because I couldn't find a dress that wasn't absolutely ENCRUSTED with beading and festooned with poufy sleeves. My sleeves were just like the ones in the photo, and the only pearls on my dress were the buttons down the back -- beautiful lace doesn't need sparkly embellishment.)

I wouldn't get too caught up in analyzing that dress. I really doubt it is "the" dress. A part of me still thinks they will be going for a simple wedding - a "Goldilocks" kind of thing - not an elopement, but not a big fancy thing either. I think they both think the other wants the big fancy wedding, and a some point they're going to finally realize that all they want is to be married. So I still vote for a simple wedding on the beach at his house in the Hamptons. They'll 'kidnap' their family - surprise them with a wedding. They'll be dressed up, but she won't be wearing that style of dress. It'll be something much simpler. They'll have something set up so she can wear heels because she won't be Kate Beckett without her heels. I know Nathan Fillion has been quoted as saying they won't be married until early Season 7 (next season),but he may be basing that off last night's episode. I read something that Andrew Marlowe has said they will get married at the end of next season, but a part of me thinks it may happen at the end of this season.

And yes I know my set-up is very fan fiction. But what the heck, it works for me. I just hope they go for goofy rather than melodramatic - you know, 3XK or Bracken kidnaps Kate or Rick, or someone is a hostage or ...... I just want a fun wedding light on the drama. But I have a feeling that won't happen!

Well, if you take scripts literally, we have been told when we'll see the wedding, LOL. (Personally, as I've said before, I'd rather that didn't happen; I want the wedding to be the series finale. However, since they didn't ask me ... it probably won't be.)

As to the dress, as Reichle pointed out, that sucker was VERY expensive to make. (Bullion lace is partly woven with very thin wire made of precious metals.) I can't imagine why Marlowe, who is notoriously frugal with production costs, would allow Reichle to make a dress that expensive if it wasn't going to be used for a very important scene (or auctioned off for a charity.) That's why I took a hard look at it. It didn't really strike me as a dress that Kate would choose on her own, but it's Marlowe and Reichle's opinion on it that counts, and if they put Katic in it, that is what Kate will "choose."
