Official "Castle" thread! Spoilers welcomed!

What I loved about "pHDead"

1. Rick Castle in glasses and a bow tie
2. the wife grabbing the husband by the bow tie
3. Espo and Ryan's reaction when they heard Castle was there
4. Espo and Ryan trying to be college students
5. Ryan, even when he's "undercover" talking about this cute blonde, Jenny
6. Drunk Rick Castle
7. Ryan and Espo being caught by Kate
8. the fact that they all discussed the separation
9. Castle's toilet paper bull's eye
10. Beckett being great at beer pong
11. Castle's secret weapon
12. Castle locking them in the cell
13. Castle boosting Beckett up
14. Kate telling him he did help
15. seeing LT is okay
16. Kate: "I'm not built that way"
17. Cigars that blow bubbles
18. I kinda like Vikram but I'm still not sure if we should trust him

Interesting case, good twists and turns. I did wonder how the victim climbed up before they figured it out, I was proud of myself.

Mr. Smith is really a piece of work.

The opening scenes of the two of them broke my heart.

My guess? Rick's going to figure out what she's doing, and she's going to realize that nothing will truly save him. And this will happen in episode 7 or 8. Episode 8 is the last one before the 2 month break.

It's a possibility. However, I don't think that's what it is. I think Kate thinks this is the best way to protect him. She feels guilty because 5 people died because of something she did. So she's not going to stop until she gets justice for them.

I agree.

DH and I have watched this show from the start. Neither of us were fans of the Kate's mom story line. When those episodes are on in reruns we don't watch. These first two episodes had the same feel to them. If they are still married, I don't think the fact that they are living apart would make anyone think she doesn't care about Castle (or his family).

I also don't like the fact that writers can't come up with scenarios of them as a married couple to keep things lively. It is too soap operaish to keep them getting together and breaking up.

I have been a fan for a long time too. And I love her mother's story. After all, that's the backbone of the show. Many of those episodes - Sucker Punch, Knockdown, Knockout, Always, After The Storm, In the Belly of the Beast, Veritas - are among my favorite episodes of all time. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

I have a feeling Kate's going to realize stepping away from Castle won't save him. He's too smart, and I think he's going to figure it all out soon enough.

Maybe the writers didn't want to write the same old, same old every week. This way, they're going back to the roots of the story. But this time, Castle knows he got the girl, so he just needs to get her to remember why they work well together.

And since they've become a couple, this is the first time they've broken up. And it wasn't because one of them had an affair or because they don't love each other anymore - it's because Kate thinks she can keep him, his mother and his daughter safe. After all, almost everyone she's loved has left her, so this is her coping mechanism. It may not be the right move, but this is how Kate works. And we get to watch Castle make her realize they work better together.

I'm still watching.

Looking forward on my cable guide, they are showing a repeat of the honeymoon episode. Why are they throwing an episode from last year in the middle of a short run?

It could be because there is a big sporting event that night or another big thing on a competing network, so they don't want to burn a new episode against that. I wasn't able to check what else is going on that night. And the run isn't short - the season premiere was a week earlier than last year's, and they will be airing 8 or 9 episodes this fall. Their mid-winter break is longer than in the past - they won't be airing any episodes in December or January this year; in the past, they only didn't air new episodes in December.

I meant the 8 or 9 before the winter break as the short run. I didn't check NBC, CBS has normal programming that night, so, not sure why the repeat.

I really liked that episode. Of course, I wish they were still together, but overall, it made me laugh, it made me cry and I loved the twists and turns of the case.

I'm glad last night was a rerun. Ten minutes before Castle started our cable went out! UGH!
