CaliGrill is not as difficult to get ressies for as one may think. It is a bit harder during free dining BUT many people cannot afford to pay out of pocket or give up 2 dining credits per person to eat there. It is def worth it especially if you are with all adults. The food and service are wonderful. Don't get discouraged ......check daily as we all are and when they do open ADRs try each and every date you will be there...You should be able to get a ressie.:yay:

It's not that difficult IF you don't want that 1 and 1/2 to 2 hour pre-Wishes time slot. Those times go quickly.

People need to know that no matter what time the reservation for a particular evening may be you CAN return to the observation deck to view WISHES.

Maybe people with smaller children should take advantage of that so the little ones are not eating late. If you REALLY want to view wishes from there your dinner reservation time does not matter. All you have to do is return later for your WISHES viewing.

This may help keep people from total disappointment when trying to book their ADRs for CalliGrill.

Honestly after the fiasco trying to book be Our Guest on the day they announced and hearing the tragedy that was booking free dining yesterday even for TAs I hope they just release it quietly one day rather than cause another riot. :sad2:

Amen to that! I still remember all the time I wasted on the phone that I'll never get back:headache:

I fully agree with the caveat that I don't believe it has been announced with 100% certainty that the same policy will hold after the re-open

PLUS with this basically being a new restaurant there will be a lot more interest in getting reservations - people who perhaps only ate hear on some trips will likely want to eat here this trip to the renovation, etc. - so it isn't a typical time of trying to get ADRs here

Add me to this group. My husband even put the caveat of all new places on this trip and I am squeezing it in under a technicality! :lmao:

Maybe they would consider opening the ADR's in stages like open it for Sept for a week, Oct the following week. This would cut down on the number of people calling at the same time and we could avoid the craziness of yesterday. Just my 2 cents:-)

Realization: Disney is expensive!

We will have a party of 8, staying in 3 POR Royal rooms for a week in November. With an upgrade to deluxe dining, it comes in at right around $10,000.

While this initially made my heart stop a little, I suppose it is a good deal considering we have 3 rooms and everything will be paid for, including character dining and signature restaurants (sans tips and alcohol). Still, we traveled to Europe last year for 13 days for roughly the same price! (but only about 1/3 of the meals were covered).

But it makes me wonder, how on Earth can people afford to stay at Deluxe resorts on a consistent basis? I make a good living but can't see staying a week at a Deluxe without breaking the bank.

Easy - its either a once in a lifetime trip (or just far less often than you think) or they make more than you. Priorities differ too. ;)

DVC helps with the lodging. But for us, the turning point was realizing that the dining plan is a terrible value for us. We did deluxe dining because we like TS over CS, but it was a lot of money (and food!). We do much better at saving money using the Tables in Wonderland card. We often with split an entree and order an extra appetizer or (gasp!) no dessert with our meal. So TiW gives us that flexibility and we end up paying far less than we would have on the dining plan.

Sorry, just realized I posted that message in the wrong forum!

Surely by now you know how people stay in Deluxe villas yearly? :confused3 No? ;)Try DVC, :goodvibeswe go 2 a year, stay in Deluxe, and use either Dining Plan or Tables in Wonderland.

If you haven't looked into DVC... I wonder how many kiosk you have passed up.:rotfl2:

DVC Grande Villas hold up 12 people in three bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room, dinning room, and some have a separate.. wait for it.. "Pool room" to keep the youngsters happy.:cheer2:

So if you all wanted to save money on food, just use the kitchen to provide meals for your group.;) We don't but many people do so.:thumbsup2

Oops, I think I just put an ad on here for DVC! Me bad.:lmao:

Enjoy your stay.

Moe

I can't believe it's August and we still haven't heard anything about reservations yet.

Do you guys think the opening date may be released at D23? Could they be waiting for that??? Or is that just a really bad guess??!

I really don't think reservations would open up on a weekend. More than likely the Disney blogs will have something in advance of the day, so people can be prepared. I expect nothing less than a phone-line meltdown the day they start taking reservations. :scared:
