Ok, our trip is coming up, and we leave the day after DHs birthday.. I wasn't planning on doing a custom cake but he kinda moaned last weekend about celebrating his birthday at Disney, what??!!!???

SO, we have chef mickey's booked the evening we arrive, and we are staying at the Contemporary. I know I have to call the cake hotline and follow the prompts... not a problem there...

BUT, what should I order?? THis upcoming trip is mainly for us to see the holiday decorations,,, has there ever been anyone do a toy story theme cake? Buzz or woody? Not sure they can do that due to licensing issues??? I don't mind paying for a custom cake, we did that this summer for our daughter's birthday and it worked out great. So tasty too.

I guess you can tell I have 2 daughters, I am drawing a total blank on "guy" themed cakes, princesses won't cut it!

I am looking thru the thread, but my computer is so slow today!

Thanks for any ideas the experts out there can help me with!!

Mary

How about Pirates or Cars?

guys, i know the california grill can do custom cakes, but can they do them for chef mickeys as well? ds wants a nemo cake for his third bday when we go down in april.

Chef Mickey's is at Contemporary, so yes, custom cakes can be done for CM. That's where I'm having my cake done and I am praying that I can get Chef Brian to do my cake. (Yes, I know I'm being dramatic) :)

thanks- brian already messaged me- god love him! lol i figured but wasnt sure since i dont think i came across any at customs at cm's. ds is happy he gets cm's- god willing if we get a ressie and he gets a nemo cake.

Booked our Illuminations Cruise this morning for my DD's 14th birthday. They told me to contact private dining to get a birthday cake for the cruise. Does anyone know if I can order a Mad Hatter cake to be delivered to the Illuminations boat?

I know she would love to have a Mater (cars) cake, but I haven't seen anything on this thread with a Mater themed cake. There will be 9 of us, so I was thinking a Mad Hatter cake in her favorite colors--blue, green and purple.

(They said the cake would have to be delivered as we cannot bring food or drinks onto the boat--which is okay, I would rather it be a surprise!)

Has anyone had luck getting GF bakery to let you get your cake at Gasparilla Grill?

I want a custom cake for DD's 13th birthday next month. Unfortunately, we were not able to make firm plans until now and there are no resv. at 1900 Park Fare. I don't really want to eat at GFC and pay that much for a "regular" breakfast.

I am continuing to call and check online for a resv. but if we can't get one I still want to get her cake there.

As promised, here is my sister's bday cake from the GF! It was around $100 plus tip and was so worth it. We asked Pat for a Haunted Mansion theme. The cake was 8 inches, chocolate with a chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries. It was so good, we ate the whole thing over 7 days! The pictures really do not do it justice!

The first look:

We're not going until March, but wonder if anyone has ever ordered from the Boardwalk Bakery and had a cake delivered to their resort bakery. :confused3 We're staying at the POFQ, and I would love to get a Mardi Gras or Princess & Frog theme for my daughter's birthdays.

We're not doing the DDP and don't plan on going to any of the restaurants at CR or GF.

Awesome cake laurainsem! Thank you for sharing.

Your welcome! I couldn't wait to get back to share!

The "portraits" are truely amazing! I almost wouldn't want to eat them ... almost!

It's a shame there's such variance in the quality of cakes people receive.

The portraits were absolutely mind boggling. My sister waited until our departure date to finally eat them. She said the chocolate was amazing!

Wow that's an awesome cake! I think I like it even better than the Haunted Mansion one with the green wall paper and the single portrait. It's interesting to see the creativity that different bakeries have. :)

I am struggling in picking a wedding cake flavor. My DF is not a big fan of chocolate, and I am not sure how I feel about yellow cake. The filling choices all sound amazing, but not sure how they would go with yellow. I was kind of hoping to have white cake as an option.
So here is my question, does anyone have any suggestions for our cake flavors?
DF did say we could maybe do chocolate cake with the white mouse with strawberries in it, but like I said he is not a fan of chocolate at all let alone a full cake of it.

Thanks for your help!

white chocolate mousse with raspberries - had this at a friends disney wedding and it was AMAZING! I am a chocolate fanatic and this was so much better than the chocolate mousse filling

I've been browsing this thread on and off and these cakes are amazing! Can I order a "custom/fancy" cake from GF and have it delivered to Poly (either in-room or at O'Hana after a dinner)? If not, can I order one and just pick it up somewhere?

Sorry if this has been asked already...but any help would be appreciated.

I would love to get a Stitch custom cake for my DS's 12th birthday. However, we would like the cake at Kona. What are my options?

Help!

My brother's birthday is February 18th. I am taking him to WDW February 16th-19th, we are staying at POR. The restaurants he picked (and I hope i can get on "d-day" 10/27) are Kona Cafe, Le Cellier, and Teppan Edo. I want to surprise him with one of these elaborate cakes, but I don't know my options considering we aren't eating at the GF. What do you guys suggest? Can we have the cake made at the GF Bakery and than served at Kona or maybe In-Room Dining? I'd prefer to have the cake in the room, but I don't know if thats an option at a moderate. Thank you for your help if you can!

Nicole

We were to have a small cake at GFC and it never happened! Actually after eating the nice meal I just did not think it was ncessary and never mentioned it to my husband. We were too full and it would have gone to waste. But I did see something in the mainstreet bakery that I might order. I love the mickey rice krispee treats- Well they make big ones of both Mickey and Minnie for about $50 you do not have to pre order and they are already prewrapped! great to take home with you and no refidge needed!
