Official Cake Chatter Thread

I found this thread a couple of days ago and I've been trying to read alll the information but there is so much and I keep being distracted by all the lovely cake photos!!

I've got some questions, apologies if they have been posted before.

I'd like to organise a birthday cake with Dumbo on it but not the edible pictures. I'd like it to be a 3D Dumbo. Is this something CRT can do (we are hoping to have dinner there) or does it have to be the GF bakery and you have to eat at GF? Or can GF do it and deliver it to CRT? I'm not sure who to call or email to arrange this? Has anyone ever seen a Dumbo cake?

Many thanks for your help!

Can you please update "The Official Cake Thread - Photo Gallery & Cake Info".
There have been numerous photos posted here in the Chatter thread since 5/2, the last time it was updated.

Many Thanks!:flower3:

She's a huge Mary Poppins fan, so I was wondering if anyone has ever ordered/seen a cake with some sort of Mary Poppins design?

I have one ordered through the GF Bakery for our dinner at 1900 Park Fare in July. It is to celebrate my mom's retirement and the theme is having a "jolly holiday" after her retirement. Obviously, I haven't seen it yet, but they can definitely do it! Cost was quoted as about $75. I'll take pictures and share when we return.

Does anyone know how I can order a Dinosaur themed cake for my son's birthday dinner at T-Rex in September? I really want to have a cake at the restaurant, but don't know the best way to make that happen.

Thank you for any help!!!

I do not believe the Disney Cake Line can help you with a cake for T-Rex because it is not a Disney-owned restaurant. BUT you can always try a Publix nearby and pick-it up & take it to the restaurant yourself (just call the restaurant beforehand to make sure it's ok to do so). I know they do some cute dinosaur cakes. Here's a link to one example:

Good Luck!

Anyone try a cake in MK from the bakery there? We're eating at Tony's for my mom's birthday, want to have something nice for her...thanks!

I'm slightly confused on where I can get a cake delivered :confused3. Do they only deliver cakes to resort restaurants, because my dad and I are going in Sept, and I want to know if I can order a cake and have it delivered to CRT?

Still looking for a pic of a very chocolatey cake from the Grand Floridian Bakery (or any bakery, really). I'm planning on doing mocha mousse filling and something with chocolate ganache, very elegant looking for my mom's 50th. Any pics of something similar would be appreciated!!!

You can pretty much get a cake any place on Disney property. They will vary in quality and what you can get. I do know you CAN get a cake at CRT. Call the cake hotline and follow the prompts.

does anyone have a pic of the gf anniversary cake? sorry if its posted, but with 4 threads of cakes and pics, ill be here forever. i noticed in one of the cake threads the gf offered this. thanks!

You can pretty much get any cake you want at the GF. I don't think they have a specific Anniversary cake. They have a double tier mini wedding cake but not seen a standard Anniversary cake.

Unfortunately, CRT offers only very basic options. The Grand Floridian has told Disney brides it cannot do 3-D shapes for wedding cakes, so you may strike out there too. The one place you might have a shot is at Yacht & Beach Club - one of the posters on this thread got a cake shaped like a pillow, and that's the only 3-D cake I've ever seen at Disney. The best thing to do is call private dining at these resorts and ask to speak with someone about a specialty cake. It can't hurt to ask!

The Main Street Bakery does not make cakes. You can buy the previously frozen "podium cakes" there, but that's it. You can order the same kind of cake when you check in for your reservation at Tony's, or you may be able to get a custom cake delivered there - call the Cake Hotline on the first page of this thread and follow the prompts to select MK restaurants. :)
