Di you check the cake cutterlink, there are tons of cakes there, I saw a Mermaid screen cake last week. Your little princess will love any cake in in Disney.:lovestruc

might ound strange but do you have any photos of the inside?? Also, what' around the edge of the cake and is the outside more like a ganache?

I had meant to take pics of the insides of both cakes that we ordered but I forgot to. The inside was a multi layer vanilla cake with white buttercream frosting. It was very good. The edges of the cake had mini chocolate chips pressed into the choc frosting. The outside was probably ganache - it was very chocolaty, smooth and soft. I'm glad we didn't get the chocolate cake or we would have been on chocolate overload.

Ive been through about as much as the cake threads as I can stand without falling over from exhaustion. I am looking for pictures of any and all cakes with Ariel. I think this is what I may do for our cake at Disney. Can you post your pictures on here to give me some ideas. Thanks!

We ordered an Ariel cake for my DD's bday at 1900 Park Fare. I have a pic posted on page 19. Ariel was made of white chocolate and the whole topper was edible - it was my DD's favorite part of the cake.

What's the diferrence between the whipped cream and buttercream? Is one of them sweeter than the other?

IMO, buttercream is much, much better. . It looks and tastes better.

This is a condensed version of what I came up with after a few searches for ya:

Butter cream is a much heavier, sweeter frosting because it primarily consists of butter and powdered sugar. The whipped cream has a much lighter, airy texture. Buttercream holds up much better. You really need to keep whipped in the fridge until you want to cut it. It gets melty. Buttercream is sweeter.

Hope that helped! :goodvibes

Okay so I just called the cake hotline and here is what I found out. Most of this info is already on here, but I thought I'd post it anyway since it is from today.
6 inch feeds 4 and is $21
8 inch feeds 8 and is $32
10 inch feeds 16 and is $45
Mickey Face Cake is $48
Edible Screen Print is $10 extra and she would only let me put it on the 10 inch
I can have it delivered to Pop Century's food court.

Can anyone tell me where or if there is a list on here that tells about the different buttercream icings? I think I will go with white, but that seems too blah. Is the chocolate buttercream that you can get light or dark and how does it taste? Any opinions? I will be getting an edible print and wondered if it will change the appearance of it if the icing is not white.

Also any additional Hannah Montana cake pics would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I emailed wegoshop grocers and they said that they could pick up and deliver a cake that was ordered from Publix. Just thought someone might want to know.

Okay, so I just got off the phone with Pat from the GF Bakery. I ordered a 10"
vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling, covered in marbled chocolate ganache. It will be topped with a white chocolate Mickey, and surrounded with 5 fresh strawberries. I have to admit, she was not very friendly or helpful. When she called me, I apologized for the fact that we had been playing "phone tag" since yesterday, and that I was excited to speak with her. The response I got was a very sarcastic "Yeah, so what can I do for you?" Although I got my cake ordered, it kind of went downhill from there. The only reason I got what I wanted was because I'd done research on the DIS. She was very unhelpful with making suggestions of any kind. I finally had to say "Okay, so I saw a photo of a cake on the DISboards, this is what it looks like, and can I get it?" Her response to that:"You know that's not an official website" DUH!!!! :confused3 told her I was aware of that fact, but is the GF Bakery able to make this cake? We finally got everything ordered to the price of $95 + tax!!
Cake-$45
White Chocolate Mickey-$30
Fresh Strawberries-$2.50 apiece
I understand this is Disney, and that I did order a "custom" cake, but I think it is a bit much. That didn't stop me from ordering it though, so I guess I'm the idiot!!! Anyhow, that's my story from today which is still lacking in Pixie Dust. I just want DD to have a special cake, and a magical trip. Pat didn't seem to care. Thank you for letting me rant!:grouphug:

:headache: Sorry to hear about your experience!

You'd think that with this huge push for the the "Celebrate Today" theme they'd be ready and willing to help people who want to celebrate by spending lots of hard-earned cash on a cake! :sad2:

Blech! :headache: That really is not magical at all!! I'd be annoyed too. I'm calling about 2 cakes I need for our trip and now I'm armed and ready for Pat! I'm glad you were able to get what you wanted though and that's the most important part! Where are you having this cake? It sounds delish and I'm sure your DD will be thrilled.:thumbsup2

Ha-ha! I was going to say the same thing!:lmao: Helloooo, it's the "What Will You Celebrate" theme and most folks are going to do crazy things like order a cake! Shocker! Definitely not magical.:sad2:

:headache:Okay, that didn't work. :headache:I'm still being pushed into the standard cake that I don't want!!! I was given a number for the "Custom Order" person, her name is Pat. I guess I'm back to waiting for her to call me back!

Okay, I've not caught up with this board for a while....is Linda not working there any more?

Would you mind sharing that link? Is it new? I'd love to see pics of cakes they're more willing to make. Thanks

thanks for the info - that's exactly what I was thinking ;) As much as I love chocolate, too much can be quite sickly!!!

Okay, so now I'm a little worried that what I was told is incorrect. Has anyone else been told they can get the image done on an 8in? I would really prefer the smaller cake, but ds has requested "mickey and all his friends" be on his birthday cake!

I really think it depends on who you talk to on the phone. The majority are told you can only get a 10 inch or larger personalized however, some have reported getting an 8 inch personalized.

If you ordered your cake and it's 8 inch and it's personalized and they quoted you a price, I'd just see what happens and be happy they were willing to do it. :thumbsup2

From one of many Disney info sites. I believe this one is Allears.

Guests who prefer a Disney Custom Bakery Cake can order at least 48 hours in advance of their celebration. Choices include a custom cake (6-inch, 8-inch, 10-inch and quarter sheet), an 8-inch Mickey Mouse cake or a themed cake with enhanced inscription and edible decorations (8-inch,
10-inch and quarter sheet), available at most Walt Disney World table-service restaurants.

It states 8 inch and edible decorations but I really don't think that Disney has a clue of what really goes on. Sorry, I love Disney but the year of "What Will You Celebrate," shouldn't be so difficult for the people who want to make their celebrations special. Also notice it says "most" table service restaurants," I guess that could be the loop hole:goodvibes

Folks

Can someone possibly give me an e-mail address to find out about ordering a cake both at the Animal Kingdom Lodge (for in room delivery) and Wilderness Lodge (for service at Whispering Canyon Cafe)??

:thumbsup2
