Hi everyone,

I LOVE, LOVE all the information on this board. I really need some help!

We have been to Disney many times (that's for another day) but this is the first time we are staying on property and doing the DDP. My parents are taking our family and my brother's and we are so excited!

We are celebrating my son's 5th bday at Chef Mickey's and I need cake help.

I would like a Toy Story, Buzz cake.

Where should I get it from?

What kind should I get?

How much is reasonable to spend on it?

What size should I get (we have 6 adults and 3 kids)?

Help!

I am looking for your expert advice before I do anything!

I am so excited I finally had some time today to sit down and call the cake hotline to order a cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. I was connected to Sally to order a cake from the Contemporary at Chef Mickey's on Jan 24th for her birthday dinner. She tried to get me to order one of the Mickey Head cakes, but then I asked her if I could speak with or e-mail Brian, and she was like OOOH you want a special cake. She was very courteous and gave me Brian's e-mail. I am anxoiusly waiting to hear back from him and see if he can accomodate all of my requests. I asked for a Minnie Mouse themed 8 inch vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling. I asked for the cake to be red with white polka dots with a minnie bow on top, a few minnie heads on the side and the little balls around the bottom of the cake. I am so excited to have a fancy cake for my daughter.

Hi, can someone help me please?

I would like to order a birthday cake for when we have dinner at the California Grill in a couple of weeks. I would like it to have Dumbo the Elephant on it, not as an edible image but something special. I've read about Brian and seen some of his designs, they are great, but I'm not sure who to ring and how to go about ordering this cake, any ideas?

Hi. I suspect this question has already been answered, but I can't find it.

We just called the cake hot line and at the beginning of the message is says that you can order a "standard" cake at any Table Service restaurant. My question can they do any decorating to that. We are celebrating our daughters 17th birthday and would at least like Happy Birthday on the cake. Can anyone who has done this, please Let us know.

I just called WL In Room Dining and spoke to a very nice CM who explained to me that they have a very limited celebration cake with candy balloons thats about 10". I inquired about customizing it (I want it to be music themed with an "18" prominent like the cake above) and she took down my info for the chef to call me back. When he does i'll ask if they can do it, or maybe they can order the cake from the Contemporary

Please let us know if they call you back. I'm intrested in a cake at WL also

I talked to someone at the Wilderness Lodge on Sunday morning. My call was returned within minutes of leaving a message. When I explained what I wanted, she gave me the e-mail for the contemporary bakery. Brian got back to me and unfortunatly what I wanted was more expensive than what I could afford. He made alternate suggestions and we are set to go. I do have to call the WL back and tell them what I want and they will write up the order.

Ok we are going in March to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. Its just DH and I the kids will be hangin with Grammy, which sometimes I think is more fun for them then WDW. So I am thinking of getting a cake but don't know from where. I would like to get one in our room but we are staying at AKV kidani and not sure if its possible. If it is does anyone know the options.

On our anniversary we are dining at Narcossee's so I know that is another option. We are also dining at CRT and I want a chocolate slipper do I call the cake hotline for that as well?

Thanks so much I've learned a ton from the 20 pages I've gone through and I still have a ton more to go.

Well kids here is the deal:
I wanted to surpirse my husband with a recreation of the top tier of our wedding cake. It was our one year anniversary and we were going to be at disney for our anniversary and wouldnt be able to bring our original cake with us.
here is our original cake:

The cake tasted so good...it was chocolate cake with chocolate filling. We had to leave more than half of it behind becuase we werent able to eat it all. It was a 6 inch cake and it was $45 plus $15 for the chocolate castle. Which was supposed to be bigger but that is ok it was still cute!

I would order a cake again

I need some cake advice.

I want to order a cake for our upcoming trip, or better yet, 2 mini cakes so that I don't have to choose a flavor or have too much left overs.

I would like to do it on the first night where our plans include:
Dinner at Captain's Grille at 5:30
Watch Wishes from our room at the GF (8:00)

I am expecting to be done dinner at 7 (we will arrive early)

I was thinking my 3 options would be:
Order from Pat at the GF to be delivered to room at 7:45
Order from BW Bakery to be delivered to Captain's Grille
Order from BW Bakery and pick it up before dinner, bring it to dinner in a bag and then back to GF to eat - Is this practical? How long can the cake go without refrigeration?


Which is my best option? If you have ordered a cake at Captain's Grille (or any other restaurant), how long did you wait for it after your meal? If I should order from BW, can someone provide the number.

I would not substitute a cake for the cheesecake at Narc

If you really want a cake, i would do it at the villas so you are not lugging leftover cake around the world

Just because you arrive early there is no guarantee you will be seated early. So on the chance you are not seated early but perhaps even late, I would hate to see your dessert ruined by having to rush back. I can't imagine anything better than going back to your room, watching wishes and enjoying your cake in a relaxed atmosphere.

I will be spending my 25th Birthday at WDW (woohoo! ) and I've been looking at all the amazing specialty cakes in the gallery.

My parents are taking me to Victoria & Albert's on my actual bday (March 25th) and there is no way I could stomach a cake after that meal so initially I thought I wouldn't ask for a cake....

However, after seeing some of the amazing work by Chef Brian at the Contemporary....I want one!!

A few questions for anyone who has ordered from the Contemporary.

1. Do they allow you to order a 6 inch or 8 inch cake as a custom specialty cake? There are only three of us, so 10 inch seems a bit excessive!

2. Do they have the same flavors as the Grand Floridian?

3. Do they automatically paint the white chocolate figures (i.e., Tinkerbell) or is that something that needs to be requested/costs extra?

If I had to pick...I would go with Vanilla Cake with Dark Chocolate Mousse filling and White Buttercream Icing. In terms of decorations...I would love purple fondant - sugar flowers, accents of white, green and silver and a white chocolate painted Tinkerbell on top

Now...I just have to get my mom to call the Cake Hotline in March

I totally understand that. But we are two adults, no appetizer, no dessert because of the cake, just an entree, I can't imagine more than 1 - 1.5 hours!

My Wife, son and myself are heading over to WDW at the end of Jan for 8 Days from Australia, It will be my wife's birthday and wanted to order her a special cake from the Boardwalk Bakery. Would anyone be able to give me the name and email of the person at Boardwalk Bakery so I could send them some pics of what i want and get this as a surprise for her. You cam PM me the email.

It is possible to have a cake delivered to your room at AKV Kidani. But..... (take this for what it is worth because I was very unhappy about my cake and will never do it again) I wouldn't recommend it. There are at least two cakes, in this thread, that were from AKL/AKV that were really great looking and then there was mine...

Mine was a 6" vanilla cake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream icing. This beauty of a cake cost around $80. We threw half of it away and that was with four adults and three kids willing to eat it - it was tasteless. If you really want something in your room personally I'd suggest calling private dining and see if they have something like chocolate dipped strawberries or something like that.

Sorry for the negativity regarding an AKV cake but I was very disappointed and had been looking forward to it for months.

Thanks so much. I would much rather know then go in and order something and be disappointed. HMMM maybe I will just order zebra domes and maybe a bottle of champagne.
