Official Breast Feeding Support Thread for WDW Parks

We just got back from a week long trip in mid November and DS was 2, I am not one to nurse anywhere back at home usually only in the priavacy of my home/car...but that is just me and I completely think you should do what is best for you and your toddler....I did have to come out of my shell as land of mouse brought on a few more melt-downs than at home....I got over my modesty pretty quick and nursed on benches, the bus, and even 2 table service restaurants....I just threw my jacket over my shoulder and let people think what they want....Most Mom's were very supportive and Dad's looked the other way....I tried to cover up as best as I could and I do think DH was not pleased but they are JUST breasts.....and happy toddler is so much better than one screaming...

We were in WDW last March and I nursed my almost 2.5 y/o just about everywhere, and at least once a day for four of those days in the Baby Center in MK, just so he could get some quiet down time.

Subscribing and signing up to the "I've nursed at Disney without a cover" club! :rotfl: I'll read back through all of these as soon as I can.

Expecting our 3rd in March and I hope we'll get to make a trip for Christmas this year, so I'll be nursing that trip, too.

Yay for BF! :cheer2:

It was super easy nursing in Disney. I actually felt more comfortable in Disney than my own mall. Probably like a PP mentioned, everyone is too busy doing Disney than noticing me. I didn't make much use of the baby care centers either. It is a great place to change diapers, but it is kinda boring. I much rather grab a bench and people watch or take advantage of a slow moving ride.

I wouldn't worry about feeling comfortable nursing in Disney. I know that I've run into a TON of nursing moms throughout the parks. I guess it does make sense, considering how many kids and moms are there.

We nursed in all the dark rides, it almost got to the point where it felt like I was riding "Nipples of the Caribbean" because she nursed on that ride from the moment we got on the boat to when we had to exit the ride.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Totally made me laugh out loud!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I nursed my 18 month old all over Disney this past weekend. And a young Mom sat on a bench near my family and nursed her baby. So good to see people nursing in public!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I have just come back to the Dis after a few years of a hiatus, and I was SO thrilled to find this thread! When my daughter made her first trip to Disney World at 25 months back in 2005, I was unsure how our nursing relationship would "fit" at Disney World, and a thread like this would have been very helpful! I am glad to report that I found many awesome spots to breastfeed her, all of which I am sure have been covered by this thread already.

Anyhow, it does my heart good to see that bfing is becoming so much more common these days! My daughter is now 7, but unless he weans himself before then, my now 17 month old son will be nursing his way around his first trip to Disney World this Fall.

Rock on nursing mamas!

What a wonderful experience! I am happy to hear you guys had such a great time!

Well, it looks like we won't be BFing at Disney, which is now about a month away. My little girl abruptly quit nursing when she had a horrible sinus infection and won't go back to the breast. I'm kind of disappointed, but it is what it is.

hi! I'm currently nursing DS#2. Is there anywhere in Disney that you didn't feel comfortable nursing, esp. certain restaurants? I like the baby care centers but they're not always close by. Thanks for any help.

When we went to WDW and I was nursing DS#1 I wouldn't do it in public even with a cover. Now w/DS#2, I don't have time to be worried about it.

We are taking DD to Disneyland for her first birthday in May. I plan to avoid feeding in character meals because I think it will probably be really hard to get her to focus and the constant yanking her head away from the **** hurts! We will cover most of the time for the same reason. I'm afraid I can't compete with all the interesting things happening in the park and covering often helps DD focus.

I never actually bf in disney, but have had one year olds in disney, and breastfed babies on other vacations. The child care centers are great, especially when it is really hot, and one year one of my toddlers had a fever,so it was a nice way to cool him off. As for breastfeeding, I did what some others have mentioned, with the nursing tank top under another shirt, loved keeping my tummy covered. I would nurse anywhere, but it is niceto do it inair conditioned places when it is hot. Last summer we were at Storyland in NH and none of the places seemed to have a/c,and it was 95 degree heat. I was wishing we had justmade the trip to disney instead!

Hi! We have been back for 2 weeks after a 9 day trip with a 9,7 and 4 month old! Breastfeeding was so easy at Disney. I went into baby care centers for changing, but not for feeding. Anytime the baby wanted to eat, I pulled out my handy dandy "Hooter Hider" and fed the baby. I fed him walking around, in lines, at restaurants, and on rides. I even did the impossible and fed him while wearing the Baby Bjorn!

No one looked at me sideways. As a matter of fact, several moms were very kind when they saw his little feet sticking out!!! Men didn't seem to notice at all!!! :rotfl:

I have to admit, the weather helped...the 70's are much easier for nursing than the 90's!!!

THank you for sharing your story! Sounds like you all had a wonderful time!

I just got back from WDW with my kiddos, the youngest is 3 months and he ate his way through the parks :) I did use the baby center in AK because we had a diaper blowout so I was in there anyway and the rest of the family had taken the train over for the Rafiki ride so I had time. The baby center was fabulous!!!

But in general, I just found a place to sit and he did his thing. I did use a cover because (1) it makes me feel more comfortable and (2) he is easily distracted so he ate better that way.

Best place I fed was in AK, the boneyard playground area because I still watch my older son play and there were places all over to sit. I never once had anyone look twice at me, not even the teenage boys who sat next to me in DHS  I did have one occassion that was annoying, I was in DHS and just sitting on a wall near a bathroom. A dad had taken his kids to the bathroom and then they were waiting for the ret of their group. The dad was on his phone the whole time, texting, checking email, whatever. His son, maybe about 10YO or so, was running around but kept coming really close to me. Then several times he knocked into me. And every time he did it, he would look over at his dad, almost like he was testing his dad to pay attention. Finally I said "Excuse me" out loud and the dad broke out of his technology stupor. If the kid was just having fun and bumped me, no big deal, but I was annoyed that the dad was ignoring his kid more than anything!

Oh and I did have a few moms make some really positive comments to me or just give a nice smile. One day it was particualrly hot and I was just not having a good day and my son wasn't latching on so I was getting antsy. A mom looked over, smiled, gave me a thumbs up and said "good job momma" and it made me smile!!

So ladies, from someone who was nervous about BFing in the world, it was a snap!! ;)

OOoo Awesome topic. Thanks! I have a question or 2:) I am travelling to dw on April 14-15 and am wondering HOW I can pump to feed dd. She is going to be 14 weeks old. I pump almost exclusively and am just working on getting her to latch because I have flat nipples from a reduction 12 yrs ago. Anyhow....I have a freezer stash of frozen milk I wanted to take to but was wondering if I can defrost that all and should I just use all that milk to feed her on the trip or should I pump and feed her? I'm worried about wasting milk yet also not having enough at the times she wants to eat. I am the ONLY driver with 5 young kids so we will be making frequent stops. I'm taking my hospital grade madela symphony with me as well as a hand pump. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I woud pump and feed on the trip. Leave the frozen stuff at home for later...

Looks like I'll be nursing at WDW again! We're going for one last trip before our passes expire. 7 nights in the beginning of May. My nursling will be 21 months old. I will nurse her whenever and wherever I need to. I am so thankful for my psling I either nurse her while wearing her, or use the tail to help keep others from seeing too much. She doesn't too much care for me covering her though, since she is so old, sometimes not covering her is less obvious. lol

I would pump and feed too. Maybe just take a bit down for the car ride in case. I did take a hand pump just in case I needed it (my son tends to only nurse on one side in the morning so I pump the other side for later) and it worked way better than I thought it would! Maybe consider that, it is small enough to keep in your bag during the day. You can always use the baby care centers to pump if you need to plug in and pump. Good luck!!!
