Your daughter's must have had a wondeful birthday. We're planning something quite similar for our DD's 18th birthday. She has no idea.:goodvibes Love the two tier castle cake. It's the first one I've ever seen.

OK, here is the cake I orderd from 1900 Park Fare for our anniversary. It was a 6" dairy free chocolate cake, with white chocolate mousse filling and dairy free vanilla buttercream icing (DS is lactose intollerant, but won't eat anything but the icing so i didn't worry about the dairy in the filling). I wanted a White Chocolate Lady and the Tramp, but they didnt' have a mold. So she said she could do a screen print on chocolate. And I wanted the "8 yrs of magic" on a chocolate scroll. Well we didn't get that, and the screen print on chocolate ended up being just an edible image they stuck next to the cake. Not good. It was $45.

The cake tasted wonderful, and DH and the kids were all very impressed with it. But I knew it wasn't right, so it ruined it for me. I mean the edible image was totally screwed up!! Something like that is supposed to LAY on top of the cake, not be just propped up. And i also specifically told her i DIDN'T want an edible image. I wanted the image painted on the white chocolate. Oh well, just remember to be very very very specific about what you want.

And as for the chocolate covered strawberries..... :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: I completely and totally forget all about them. We never once went into the food court the entire trip, and the day i was supposed to get them, i ended up packing things up and jsut wandering around the resort while everyone else napped. I didn't even remember i ordered them until on the bus trip back to the airport! UGH!

So sorry you were disapointed. Did you complain. That seems like you should of been charged less. That stinks about the strawberries.
I am sure your vacation was magical.

I've thought about calling and complaining to Linda about it, as she was the one that took the order, but what is the point now? Dh and the kids thougth it was fine, and it tasted good. What will they do about it now?

I have looked through a 100 pages and I couldn't find any cakes from the Princess Storybook restaurant @ Norway ( I apologize if there is and I didn't go far enough-- my eyes are killing me.)

Does anyone have a pic of a cake from there? I saw the Ariel cake. I definitely don't want that or anything like that. So would it be my best bet to call Boardwalk Bakery?

I believe you need to go to page one here - and call the main cake hotline telephone number - they may ask you to go ahead and just order the one at the podium, many have posted that that cake is fine, others find it to be prefrozen and not as good - so you have to order the 8 or 10 in cake - that is the one you can have customized..

good luck!! let us know!!

The Ariel cake picture was my DD McKenna's cake. It was nasty. I have never met a cake that I didn't like, but we let the wait staff have it for their break room. It wasn't even real buttercream. Or whipped topping. I could have ordered one from a grocery store and it would have been better.

Oh, I wasn't saying anything negative about your cake. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I just want something more........ I can't explain. I know I want Belle but I don't want a black gel drawing. And I have seen some of the computer prints that look really nice but that's not what I want either. hmmmmmmm too big of expectations huh?

Will the bakeries email pics of cakes they have made?

We will be celebrating my sons Birthday during our trip. His Birthday is 5/30. On 5/29 we will be at WCC . This is where he wanted to go for his birthday meal. We will be there for lunch. He also wants to go to The Tusker House for Donald's breakfast on the 30th. Which one should we order a cake for? I am not sure which one would work out to be the best. I called the WL and they didn't really have anything but the 6 inch round and the 10 inch round. They told me they would have flowers but I asked for no flowers. She told me their bakery was really small and they couldn't do much. Which one would he have more fun celebrating his birthday? He is turning 11.

Thanks!

Holy Cow! My son is also turning 11 on 5/30!

I'm certain I've read that they don't do cakes, at all. You can get a cookie there, for free I think, if you request it when you check in, but no cakes. I guess you could pick one up at the Boardwalk Bakery and carry it in yourself. Seems like a pain to me though. I'd probably just choose another restaurant if you want a cake.

I can only speak from experience in ordering from the WL bakery. We celebrated DH's bday in February while we were staying there. When I called to order the cake I was very disappointed at the limited options. I went ahead and got one anyway since I really wanted to do something and I also wanted it delivered to the room. We got a 10 inch vanilla cake with butter cream frosting. DH still says it is the best cake he has ever had (and he can be very picky). We joke that every time we go we will get a cake no matter what the occasion. It was a basic cake with flowers but the best cake we have ever had. I wills say it was not the prettiest cake I've ever seen. On a side note, we ordered the same type of cake for MIL while staying at the GF last year and it was no where near as tasty.

Here is a pic of the cake.

If you read the first page of this thread - you can get a cake delivered to Norway - thru the cake hotline... you have to call and talk to them...

the pp mentioned WL does have a small bakery, and only does limited cakes - so, calling you get the information you need...

for instance, people have posted their cakes from Crystal Palace, Coral Reef, LeCellier - none of these places have a "bakery" either - they are delivered from some place to some place -

not sure what the procedure is - not sure why I was able to order the "Hannah Montana" print on the cake, but a pp only got Lady and the Tramp "on the side" :confused3

Many are posting different experiences from earlier posts... so call...

I have always felt a cake from the Grand Floridian Bakery is the best - so I plan a meal there - either 1900, or the Grand Tea... Last time, 1900 was closed for refurb and I couldnt get an adr at GF - so I "settled" for CP, on our first night - we were not disappointed...

Thanks Sandy321. I guess the best answer is to call huh? Things seem to change on a regular basis. :goodvibes

I've posted this before but this is the cake that we got for my FIL's birthday last October at WCC.

While the decorations weren't really what I would have picked the detailing in the flowers was incredible. The flowers weren't edible but the rest of the cake was amazing!

It was a 10" marble cake with the buttercream icing and filling. Very tasty!!!

Just a couple of posts before yours someone is saying just the opposite about cakes from the GF. Your post encouraged me because we are having my mom's big 70th birthday event at the GF and I need to order a cake. What cake combinations from the GF have you been happy with ? Thanks a lot!

I wanted to get info. to help me decide on a bday cake for DD7. I didn't realize there would be so many choices!!:scared1:

But one thing I want to be sure of, if I order a custom cake it can be delivered to any restaurant or resort on the Disney property, right?

Not all cakes are available at all locations. Some restaurants and resorts have very limited cake availability, some have more choices. The only way to find out is to call the cake hotline and start asking questions. The standard offer is 8 or 10 inch, chocolate or vanilla cake with chocolate or vanilla frosting and an edible image on top. Many places this is the only offer.

The truly custom cakes you see on this thread seem to be few and far between. And only available at limited locations. It is difficult to get to the right person to ask and even more difficult to get the order put in for the cake you really want.

It seems that some of the cakes here were a special, one time only, deal. Some were done easily in the past but with the advent of this thread (and I'm sure others like it) they are harder than ever to get (popularity comes with a price.)

I recently called the Gf private dining and asked for a custom b-day cake only to be told they don't make custom b-day cakes! I am eating and staying there so that wasn't the problem. I knew that they had done them in the past and kept asking questions. The next answer was "They start at $100." (I think that was supposed to scare me away.) So I gently pressed for what I want (after confirming that I understand the price) and it sounds like I'm going to get something close to what I was hoping for. It's a large price tag for a 3yo, but she is the princess in my world! I'll let you know in September how it worked out.

Wendy - I also want to thank you for posting the slipper dessert, a poster on another thread was told that they only do "glass slippers" :confused3

Now I know at Epcot I did buy a glass slipper for DD (had it engraved too!!) but for a dessert?? I dont think so - but I couldnt debate it, as I havent been to Disney in awhile!!

glad to see they are still doing the white chocolate desserts!!

(what, you mean mom - no cars for 16??!! *grin)

You are quite welcome. Again, had it not been for this thread, I'd never have known about the slipper -- or where they served it! Disboards are the best!
