Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

Great Thread! However, I've only been skimming over the pages to look at pictures to get ideas and I haven't read all of the posts. So here's my question:

DH and I will be celebrating our 13th anniversary the day after we leave WDW. 2 days before, we'll be having an anniversary dinner at Marrakesh while MIL watches the kids. I would like to get DH a cake but want the rest of the family to enjoy too. Plus, with the dessert we'll get with dinner, I'm sure we won't have room for cake. The next morning, we'll be eating at CRT for breakfast with the kids and MIL. Is it strange, or even possible, to get a cake for breakfast? Also, since it would be at CRT, would be call the regular cake hot line?

THANKS!:thumbsup2

I'm not the cake expert some on here are, but I've seen a lot of posts where people ordered a cake for breakfast. The only negative I can see to ordering the cake for CRT is that you'll have to discard what's left, return to the resort to drop it off, or carry it with you all day. If this won't be a problem, it sounds like a great plan to me. :teeth: After all, you're on vacation, cake for breakfast is a good thing.

Thanks, I was wondering what I would do with it. I know I have read that some restaurants have held cakes for people. Anybody have any luck with CRT doing so? I would hate to discard it as I know that we will have a lot left and will be staying overnight offsite that night on our way home. Leftovers would make a great breakfast the next day! If it's a warm day, I don't think it would last very long, as we plan on staying at MK until early/late afternoon. Since we'll be leaving, we won't be able to take it back to the hotel. I'm sure it will be hot, so our only option will be either throwing it away (which I won't do) or having CRT hold it. If they can't hold it, I'll have to come up with another idea for when to have the cake. Thanks again

We got a cake at Kona Cafe for breakfast last September. It was great!

CRT held our cake for us a couple of years ago. I would think they still do. :)

Just an update on our cake. When we arrived I went to the bakery at POR about 3 pm and asked if the cake was ready. The girl behind the counter seemed a tad confused and I said it was a graduation cake that was to be ready for pick-up. I told her my last name and about 5 minutes later she came out with the cake. I am not sure how to download the pic to this site but it was done in white buttercream frosting with white Mickey heads piped on the side and Happy Graduation Kendall on the top with green leaves and yellow roses piped on the top and came on a gold foiled cardboard circle, for $26.00 and we ate from it all week. A bit too sweet for me but my guys loved it. I am a whipped cream girl. Be specific with what you want on top as far as colors or any toppers. They do a 1/2 sheet cake as well as the 8 or 10 inch.
Thanks for the info! We will need probably a 10" or bigger.. there are 16 of us going;) I wonder if they do those as well? Prices seem reasonable there too.

:woohoo: Remember to show us pictures!!!

I need to order a cake from him for Friday 5/16, I am thinking about waiting until Monday 5/5... do you think I should call Fri 5/2 :confused3 Was he prompt about returning calls (e.g. within a day or so, not a week)

Thanks!!!

We are going to be in WDW on Valentines Day next year (i'm planning very early I know!) We will probably eat at CG or LC and I would love to get a special cake for my two girls to tell them how much we love them. Can I get a cake delivered to any restaurant on property and am I limited to what I can choose. Ideally I want something small as it will only be the four of us eatting although we could take it back to our villa. I saw on here the miniture castles/ CInderella's slippers - do all restaurants do these and what are they made of (icing or white chocolate etc). I think they are so cute and my girls would love them.

Thanks

Some restaurants are more limited on what they can do. The best cakes are at the GF as they have an amazing private bakery for their weddings and guests but they are only for guests staying there or eating in their resort.

The resorts around the Boardwalk Bakery get their cakes from there so they are pretty nice too.

You would just call the cake hotline and see what they can do for you.

The mini castle cake is only available at the GF and the castle is white chocolate. It's $25.

The white chocolate Cinderella Slipper is only available at the GF or CRT in MK. It's filled with mousse. It's about $14.

How much are they charging you for the strawberries?

Does anyone know how big the mini castle cake actually is? The pic's of it make it look like a good size. But...if it's on a saucer...then I assume it's small. Am I right?:)

They are meant to be single serving but my two DDs shared it but we were very full from the 1900 Park Fare buffet.

Thanks so much beattyfamily, for your reply and the great pic's. :thumbsup2 Always nice to hear from fellow Massachusetts Disney fans. So if we got two (2 b-days) it wouldn't be too much. Keep in mind my DH loves cake. :cake:

Just DH and I going on trip and I want to make it really special. I have been scanning the thread and am wondering about getting a small cake delivered to our toom. Is it possible? How do I go about it? Who do I call? If not, who do I call about getting a cake for our meal on the night of our anniversary?

No, I don't think it would be too much since they are really meant for one person.
