Sorry to be a cake pest, but I'd love an answer to my question about tropical mousse filling. Thanks in advance to any and all who can help a gal out! :wizard:

Has anyone here ever had the tropical fruit mousse filling? What does it taste like (i.e. is it heavy on coconut/pineapple, or something else)? Would you recommend it? Anyone have a picture?

I'm not a big frosting person, so I'm thinking a mousse filling would be best. But I can't eat white chocolate and my dad can't eat raspberries. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Many of the girls on the bride board tried the tropical fruit mousse filling. A majority of them were not a fan of it as it is a unique taste. They often chose other fillings for their wedding cakes.

Thank you again Jennifer for all your replies. ;)

Just waiting on the chocolate strawberries question.

Me too! :lmao: Haven't heard back from the POP chef, so I'll call again today. I'm hoping they can do it, or atleast some kind of fruit tray like it, as I'm allergic to strawberries, but my family loves them. It'd be great if they could come up with some kind of cherries and bananas and pineapple tray. :thumbsup2

That fruit tray sounds good. :)

I'll keep my fingers crossed waiting for your reply. :scared:

Thank you again for everything. ;)

I personally did not eat the cake (there was WAY too much food on the cruise all together).

So, I've asked dd. She didn't like it very much, but the thought was sweet!

There was like a yellow cake as the base and a strawberry jell-o/cream mixture on top. It also came with a chocolate "happy birthday" sign, which dd loved.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful pictures and it looks like your princess had a wonderful birthday.

Has anyone here ever had a Buzz Lightyear cake? Buzz is my DS's favorite and he turns 3 while we are there in July. I know he would go nuts over a Buzz cake. I'll be ordering the Ariel cake for DD's 5th b-day in April, and I wanted to plan to do something nice for him too.

After much hemming and hawing, and hawing and hemming, and pouring over this thread I decided to order a cake for my Mom's birthday. We are there celebrating next week. My big hangup was having so much cake left over and having to lug it around.

So I chose our Th night dinner at Le Cellier since I think we are just meandering through the showcase afterwards. I called the hotline, went with the prompt that included Le Cellier and got a nice girl who told me my choices were:

*the $12 little cake
*8 inch cake that she said they usually decorate with flowers in choice of chocolate or vanilla for $25
*8 inch cake with picture of character in choice of chocolate or vanilla for $35

I had kind of hoped to get something where I chose the fillings but she didn't mention it and also a 10 inch cake would really be just so much (there are 3 grownups and 3 kids).

So we went with a chocolate cake with whipped cream (had choice of I think white, dark chocolate, buttercream or whipped) icing and a picture of Donald Duck and it will say "Happy Birthday Grammy".

I'll be sure to post a pic after we return!

Thanks for this really informative thread!

We ordered the basket through Disney Floral. fairy_tale_bride here on the dis works there and I order directly through her. We've ordered 2 birthday baskets with her so far and she is so wonderful to work with! I'm sure you can contact Disney Floral directly, but I highly recommend working with fairy_tale_bride here.

I just wanted to 2nd this! She helped me surprise DD at Garden Grill with a huge stuffed Mickey mouse and balloons. She is wonderful to work with and very helpful. DD was so surprised!

I just wanted to say thank for for posting all of this. My DF found this before our last trip to Disney and surprised me with a engagement proposal and one of these beautiful cakes. If it wasn't for you, we would've missed out on the cake! Thanks for putting in your time to make things special for others! :)

Has anyone had the banana split cake I saw on the Boardwalk Bakery menu? sounds great, pics would be super.:woohoo:

We're eating dinner at Liberty Tree for my daughters 11th birthday, where should I get a cake?? :goodvibes

I believe your cake would come from MK bakery. call the cake hotline and follow the prompts to order a cake from MK. There are good reports on here from the MK Bakery!! Post pics!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Did you get a pic of the cake? :lmao:

I'm a bit confused. Which did you call? Both the GF resort (bakery) and then also the Boardwalk bakery too? Or did you call the cake hotline number? I cannot believe that the GF said their private bakery would deliver to any resort. :confused3

From my understanding, yes, you can get a cake at any resort by calling the cake hotline BUT your cake is NOT coming from GF if you are not staying at GF. They have said time and again that they do not deliver to other resorts. On occasion some have had luck getting a GF cake IF they were staying at one of the monorail resorts and IF they paid a hefty delivery fee or if they were stay conceirge but I've never heard of anyone having luck getting a GF delivered to any other resort.

Boardwalk Bakery does provide cakes to several close by resorts though.

My suggestion to anyone wanting a cake, call the cake hotline (the number is provided in post #1) and see what they can do for you at your particular resort. Just follow the prompts.

They may not be able to do as nice a cake as one from the GF bakery but they can do something. :thumbsup2

I just don't want folks getting confused so that is why I'm asking
.

So no one gets confused...YES....I called the GF Bakery...was put on hold and spoke with Sandra...I am not sure if they transfered me or not (perhaps) but was told "YES", they do deliver to POP...I was not trying to "confuse" anyone, just simply stating how I made my calls and what info I was given...sorry to have "offended" or "confused" anyone. :confused3

I agree.

GF delivered my groom's cake to the Yachtsman Steakhouse free of charge.
Then again, I was also spending almost $300 on a cake though.

Offended? Why would asking you for clarification mean I'm offended? :confused3

Your post only confused me because you wrote that you called th "GF/Boardwalk bakery". They are two different bakeries so I couldn't figure out if you meant you called both of them or not.

It seems that Disney is just like every other large company, where you can call 6 different people and ask the same question and get 6 different responses. :confused3

I got a call back from the chef at POP yesterday. Asked about the strawberries. He was a bit thrown that I wasn't asking for a cake. :lmao: But he said they get fresh strawberries every day for smoothies, so he didn't see why they couldn't do chocolate covered strawberries for me. He said he would call back if there were any problems, so i guess we'll just wait and see!

I'll bet it's because of the cost of the cake and that it's a groom's cake.

Can you imagine if the GF had to deliver $25 birthday/anniversary cakes all over WDW...I think they'd loose money big time. A wedding cake is quite different.

You can get anything done if the price is right though! ;)

So now they do deliver to POP!?! :confused3

Are you sure the cake was coming from the GF or BW bakery? Or maybe they meant the POP food court, I hope not. I just hope that it's true. :)

Anyone hear if BW bakery delivers or even makes chocolate strawberries yet? I'm hoping to have some available (delivery or the dreaded pick-up) when I get a room at the POP. :upsidedow

WOW! Slow down girl! You just answered my question before I wrote it. :rotfl:

Thank you for calling and posting this. Please let me know what happens. :)

Btw...here is my $292 cake
