Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

I'd love for folks to weigh in with more recent cake experiences to hear how things are the same or different since the centralized "cake hotline" has come up! Have they standardized the options at all? Is the information more consistant? Or is it just a referral line that transfers you to the appropriate restaurant/bakery?

It just transfers you to the resort you press button for, but it's convenient.

I hope are cake is like this one. I order a chocolate cake for my sister birthday at CRT, but I asked them to pur Ariel on it. I just hope it is the same kind of cake that one looks so good.

Thank You for sharing.
Sarah

Here's my CRT cake. It was 8 inches and it was $25.

Curious as what folks do w/the leftover cake. Will the restaurant box it and hold it there until you're done in the parks? Just curious, what is the slipper dessert - I've seen pictures of it but what is it made of? It looks like white chocolate w/mousse on something. Not sure if DD4 would rathar have that or a cake. Any reviews on the taste of the slipper?

We're staying at the Poly so maybe I'll have an 8" cake delivered to our room through in room dining and not worry about carrying leftover cake around the parks.

We gave our left over cake to the staffs at each restaurant (CRT and LeCellier) to enjoy in their break rooms. There was no way we could eat any more and we didn't feel like taking them back with us.

I haven't ordered a cake yet for our anniversary dinner for CRT. I'm not much of a cake eater (I didn't even eat any of our wedding cake. Crazy, I know) I was wondering if there is anything else they could do besides cake.

Try the Slipper Desert. I am the same way, not big on cake myself so when we go in Sept. and celebrate our 3rd anniversary(dbf)and his 30th and my 40th birthdays I will be ordering him a small cake and me a Slipper Desert.

I am not so sure myself but I think it is like a white chocolate of some sort. with a I think a mouse(sp) with raspberries. I hope this helps, I am sure someone else could help.:goodvibes

Does anyone know if you can get strawberries instead of raspberries in the slipper dessert at CRT?

Boardwalk Bakery is an actual bakery on the Boardwalk. You can walk in and pick up one that's already made or you can try and call them to request something special. I believe the number is on page one of this thread.

Or, if you are staying onsite, you could just call the cake 'hot line' and arrange it at your resort that way. I believe the 'hot line' number is also on page one.

The only deliver to deluxe hotels right?

I believe that since they introduced the cake "hot line" number that you can now arrange to have a cake at any resort. When you call it lists almost every resort (press #1 for this resort and press 2 for that resort).

To back-up this post, I called the cake hotline last week and was connected through to CBR which is where we are staying. I had to leave a message, but received a call back in under 15 minutes. The CM that I spoke with mentioned that delivery to the room is no problem and that cakes to CBR come from the Boardwalk Bakery.

They do require 48 hours notice, but will take requests up to 1 month in advance.

Thank you SO much!!! You are so helpful! Did you pretty much have the choice of whatever kind of cake you wanted? Or were you limited to certain flavors and desgins?

Are the cakes for the CR limited to flavors/fillings? Does California Grill make the CR cakes?

The girl I spoke with mentioned that the cake choices were chocolate, vanilla or marble and then there are a variety of fillings and frostings to choose from. She wasn't too familiar with different designs, etc., but since I couldn't order yet anyway, we didn't really need to go into it. She told me that when I call back to order I should ask to speak with either the CBR Food & Beverage manager or the chef to discuss all the options.

She also talked about some of the sizes: 6 inch, 8 inch, 1/2 sheet...
