Has anyone ever ordered a cake for no special reason? We go in Oct - no birthdays, no anniversaries - nothing going on. But I look at these cakes and want to order one so BAD but what would I have put on it? Is that being silly?

Actually, yes, I just did! My dd3 would just love the cinderella's slipper dessert, but we are going in aug and her bday is in January. DH is a teacher, so going in Jan will always be out of the question.
Anyway, I called and asked if they could do it for a dessert at the cinderella breakfast (which I had adr's for) and they said yes. Instead of writing Happy Birthday on the plate, like they typically do, I asked them to write "Always my princess". I will have to take pics, but I am so excited!:cloud9:

We are staying at SSR and I am wondering if anyone has ordered a cake to be delivered to your room. Or would I be better having the cake ordered for one of the restaurants - as I have all my ADRs booked for the stay. Thanks

I'm also staying at SSR and would love information on where to get my cake:love: If we don't get a cake, I was considering going to Beaches N' Cream and getting the Kitchen Sink. I think my daughter would love either.

Just celebrate being at Disney! If you want one, go for it. You could pick a cute saying about Disney magic or something and have Mickey on it. That could be cute. Or maybe celebrate it be X number time to WDW. Anything can be made into a celebration! ;)

I want a cake, so we'll just celebrate that we are
-on vacation
-at WDW
-eating nice cake
-gaining to much weight
-whatever, every reason is good to eat cake :cheer2:

We need a cake smilie!

This is the cake that I ordered for my DH birthday from the GF bakery last year. We had lunch at the GFC just so that I could order him the cool cake!! It was super good, and they wrapped it up for me to take back to the fridge at our hotel after. It was $45, but I also got the DDE discount on it. YUMMY!! Hope this post works...

Hi Claire!
I stayed at SSR for my mom's birthday in Jan. this year. I originally ordered a cake from one of the resturaunts (believe it was the one at OKW but, can't remember now) and the lady was very nice. She said they didn't deliver to the room but, that I could pick it up in the lobby of SSR. I ended up getting one of the special Castle cakes at Grand Floridian and so I had to drive over from SSR to get it which is a good drive but, the cake was worth it since they didn't deliver. The really great part of it was that there was some confusion about the cake I had ordered and so the manager went right to work to fix everything up and then gave me the cake free. Imagine my shock!!!!!!!!! No matter how many times I said it was okay, she said it was for my trouble and that she hoped my mom had a wonderful birthday! Can you get any nicer???!!! Disney Magic in FULL affect! :)
Wow...that was a long answer for ya! LOL :hourglass

Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone has posted any pics of a Lady and the Tramp cake? My DBF and I are celebrating our 6 year anniversary. We'll be staying at the BWV and I thought maybe we'd just order something from the BW Bakery since I've heard they have yummy cakes and deserts? So any pics or suggestions for a cute but not toooo girlie cake for our special day? :earsboy::earsgirl:

Claireloveseeyore - try calling the cake hotline number listed on page 1. With the introduction of this new centralized system, they are supposedly offering cake deliveries to all the resorts. I have no personal experience myself but that is what I've read here. I hope that it is true! Please post what they tell you.

The Lady & the Tramp cake we ordered for our 11th anniversary from the BW Bakery turned out to be the best cake we've ever had! We've had 3 Disney cakes, but when I say they best ever, I mean EVER!!!!! It wasn't "girlie" at all... it was the typical "Lady & the Tramp at the table eating spaghetti" pic and we had it delivered during our dinner at Spoodles. My camera broke the day before, so I only have it on video, no still pics. I've never uploaded video feed, so I guess I'll have to try it soon!

Is that the 10 inch cake you had ordered?
Did it taste good??

Yes, both of our cakes (Tinkerbell/Lady and the Tramp) were 10" cakes. We didn't need that much cake, but we took it back to the room & put it in the fridge. DD did the same with her b-day cake. To me it was worth having extra cake to get exactly what I wanted, and honestly, I didn't pay any more for either of these cakes than the 8" cake I ordered last year from the GF!

My DH and I both liked the Lady & the Tramp cake best though, mainly because of the custard w/strawberries for the filling. The fruit mousse was good in the Tink cake, just not our favorite. Other than that they were both white cake, buttercream filling.

There are 120 pages here and it would take me forever to read all of them to find the answer to this question, so I'm just going to ask in hopes that someone might know.

My husband's birthday falls during our next planned trip. He isn't a big fan of sweets but loves carrot cake. Do you think they offer that flavor? My husband's name is Don and he shares a certain temperment with a duck of the same name. We tease him endlessly about it. I'd love to order him a carrot cake decorated with an angry, temper tantrum throwing Donald Duck. It think it'd be hysterical, I know he'd get a huge kick out of it (so would the kids).

Does anyone know if they offer carrot cake? How about Donald Duck displaying that trademark personality?

Thanks for the help :0)

Why not celebrate "UNbirthdays" ... ;)

ANyone order a cake to have at the Mickey's Back yard BBQ? I called to TRY to change some ADR's yesterday and the lady gave me the number for the BBQ cakes.... I was just wondering if anyone has done this. :)

There is no such thing as being silly when it comes to cakes!!!;) If you want one, order one! You are on a Disney vacation!! Enjoy!!

Hi I am staying at SSr coming in on 9/2/07. I ordered a cake for my 10th anniv. When I called the cake hoteline I was connected to the Artists' Palette. I spoke to someone there that gave me several choices. I told her I wanted a special 10in. cake and characters I wanted on top. She was not sure, so she told me to call the Boardwalk bakery. I spoke to the baker there and we went over the cake. She gave me the price and I was to call SSR back to place the order. They would fax it over to the Boardwalk Bakery. The cake is for my room so I will pick it up at the Artists' Palette. Hope that helps.

NOT a Disney Cake but I thought you guys might like to see my little sister's 18th Birthday Cake from Friday night :)

It was about 40" tall! The bottom layer is 13" wide.

Do they still customize 8 inch cakes at GF bakery or is it still discontinued? I read the middle part of this thread and saw that people were having trouble ordering it, is that still the case?
