Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

What a YUMMY thread!! A few years ago we met up with some friends and did a wishes cruise for the daughter's birthday. The cake was the best cake I had ever eaten. I'd order a cake but then it would be just my one son and I eating. My othe DS and DH are not big dessert eaters.

Here is our agenda (without knowing the hours of operation)

7th MGM 50's Prime Time 5:40pm (won't arrive until about 4pm)
8th MK CRT 12:05pm (also BBB at 11:00) YDD's bday celebration
9th EP Akershus 10:05am
10th MGM Sci-Fi 5:45pm DB's birthday
11th AK - ? (maybe just CS)
12th BW Big River Grille & Brewing Works (lunch)
12th EP Coral Reef 6:00pm
13th (Sea World)
14th ? probably DTD & extras (was supposed to go to the beach, but now plans have changed)
15th MK Supercalafragilistic Breakfast 10:55am
15th MK Gala Feast 6:10pm
16th HOME

Maybe I will try to switch 50's Prime Time to that day, and do Sci-Fi when we get there. I think we will need a later dinner time the first day, anyway. Darn, my brother really would have liked to have his BD at Sci Fi. But, there are 8 of us and I want it to be a little party that we can all enjoy together. His actual birthday is on the 10th, so I don't want to change the day.

Could you eat CS or another TS (not currently on your list) you arrival day, then have the earliest lunch at Sci-fi & a later dinner at 50's on the 10th? You could order the cake for 50's. That way your DB gets his b-day meal at Sci-fi & also has his cake on his actual b-day. If you only order burgers or similar at Sci-fi, it wouldn't really be any different than eating CS, so you should have room for dinner later.

Can you get chocolate strawberries, cake or wine sent to your room at the Poly? And if so, would anyone know what my options are, and how much it would cost?

Can I order a castle cake to be sent to a room at the GF? Our friends are going soon and would love to surprise them with something special.

I'll post the pic soon...but I just had to let everyone know that the cake I ordered from Yachtsman Steakhouse was DELICIOUS!!! AND beautiful!! We ate it all week.

Oh, I can't wait to see the pic of the cake from Yachtsman. DH and I are celebrating my 40th b-day there in Sept. and I would love to get a yummy cake.

Hi! Just got back a few days ago from a week at the GF. Went for our 11th Wedding Anniversary w/the family. The pic below is the anniversary cake that I surprised my wife with on our anniversary night at 1900 Park Fare. She was shocked! She couldnt get over how awesome it was. Tasted good too! Vanilla cake w/vanilla chocolate mousse inside. I simply called the cake hotline and they transferred me to the GF Bakery once I told them I wanted to order a custom cake. Anyone wondering the cake was $40.00 including the topper and inscription scroll.

What a beautiful cake. This is exactly what I would like to get for my husband on our upcoming anniversary trip. Sorry to be a pain, but could you tell me what you exactly ordered! What kind of frosting is that on the cake? Do you know if they will deliver to Coral Reef?

They said the 6 inch cakes you can order when checking into your restaurants. Can this cake be chocolate? or are they all 1 flavor?

The 6 inch cake comes in chocolate and vanilla only. There are reports if you order them at the podium that there's a chance it will we frozen. It also can't be personalized. I took a chance and ordered one for the Coral Reef, through Debbi. She said it will be personalized and hopefully thawed.:rotfl: Hopes this helps a bit.:goodvibes

Reading through this thread, alot of people say the cakes you get at the podium are gross, just food for thought.

They are not totally disgusting...just not a "bakery" style cake....more like one of the frozen Peppridge Farms cakes...the one we had at San Angel last year was still slightly frozen but pretty tasty...the only thing I did not like was the confetti type sprinkles they put on it...I am not real big on "crunchy" cake:lmao:

I apologise if this has been answered already, but does anybody have any pictures of the cakes available at Coral reef restaurant? We are celebrating DS's 9th birthday and want to get some ideas of the cake
Which bakery makes them and how much are they?
What options are available for filling, frosting etc
Any help would be appreciated grately
Thank you

Does anyone know what types of cake and designs you can get at Coral Reef? I was hoping I could maybe get DS a turtle cake (Crush) for his birthday. Then again I´m wondering if it´s worth the money, considering we´re on the DDP and desserts are included?

I´m also wondering what designs are available at Crystal Palace, since we´ll be celebrating DD´s birthday there?

As far as I know, Coral Reef will only put an image on your cake. If you have an specific image you would like on, you can call someone there and ask for an e-mail to send it to them.

I had these pic's on my laptop which unfortunately the motherboard fried yesterday. So I did some searching from memory and found these. Hope the links work. I'm still kind of new at this.:goodvibes There's a picture of a cute cake on each of these pages. Hope this helps a little.

I just called to order a cake from the Grand Floridian and they just weren't nice at all. They kept saying since we are a party of 5, we should get the standard cake that is $12.50.

I'm sorry to read that. I've not ordered our cake yet. We are only a party of 4, but we want the cake personalized.

I've looked through all this thread - just wondered. Can they screen all the princesses on a cake? We are celebrating our twins 5th birthday with lunch at the castle, and want to order a special cake for it. One loves Ariel & Jasmine - the other is a big Cinderella fan.

I wish they had a website, where you could pick & personalize your cake on line.

I agree! It´s amazing that you still can´t do that nor can you make your ADR´s online. As an "international" guest I would love to be able to take care of more things online instead of having to call and wait on hold with great costs associated. This year I´m actually using a TA which I´ve never done before. Mainly to be able to get them take care of most of my phone calls. I´m surprised Disney chooses to have it this way, and pay the TA´s, rather than just help us take care of our planning online.
