Official Avengers Super Hero Half Marathon Weekend 2014 Thread!

Ok got DD's confirmation so we're all set! yay!
Emailed GET travel yesterday and reserved a room at PPH!

If anyone is considering staying at Hojo for the race, call their in house reservations # and they will give you a discount for marathon weekend. I think its 15 or 20%?

Do all of the Active races work for proof of time?

I thought I'd have a time to submit because I'm running the Disneyland 10k in August but the deadline to submit for the Avengers half corral placement is Aug 1st. There are a few local 10k's on the Active website but they don't say if they are timed or not.

Worst case scenario I'll start in the last corral but I run a 9-10 minute pace and would like to avoid some of the crowds if possible.

I don't think so. I think it needs to be officially timed so TrackShack can verify the time you submit and slot you in the appropriate corral. That being said, it wouldn't NEED to be an Active race either.

Any timed race works. Doesn't have to be one through Active.com

Need to book travel soon but as we have only been to DL once for the Tink and we stayed at DLH, I am looking for recommendations. Nice hotel, walk to race and parks and cheaper than the 350$ for PPH. 200$ per night maximum. I've seen the list from GET Travel but it's just a list to me with no good idea on the hotels listed except the Disney ones.

Will be with my DH so not too worried walking offsite.

Most of the properties closest to the parks are motels with outside corridors. Are you ok with that set up or are you looking for hotels with interior corridors? What else do you want it to have? Theres tons to choose from so your preferences help narrow it down a bit!

Does DD need to submit her proof of time since we used the PHM time in the format they stated? Is that all the proof they need or do we need to send a document of some sort? - it was a runDisney marathon just last month... If so, how do you submit?

If you submitted a proof of time while registering your good. Unless she gets a better qualifying pace time then the one she got at PHM between now and August (I think?) and wants move further up then she would send just send them an email with the information listed on the website).

Registered through the DVC site which went live a little before 8:45am!!

If anyone is an AARP member, the HoJo site was offering 20% off rates for this time frame. The in-house number couldn't pull that rate up. I have stayed here before and really like it. It has indoor corridors, free parking if you have a car and it takes less than 10 minutes to walk to admission turnstiles.

Hmmm. Not sure how best to narrow it. I will say we are usually deluxe resort type people but as this race was a last second decision we thought it a good idea to save some money. Distance to the race is most important but I consider the Motel 8 to be camping. We will try and decide by this weekend.

Going to talk to Mom about the 5k again. I am sitting this one out. But if she really wants to do it I can sign her up when general registration starts. She just is going to have to understand that I am not going to understand that I am not going to add another 3.1 miles to my 26.2 mile week (when you add to the halfs up). Even if it would be walking. So she would either be doing with my friend and her family or on her own.

DW and I are in for the half. I'll be inviting my parents to watch our kids during the race as I was able to get a DVC reservation at the Grand Californian that can hold us all.

I've done the Goofy before at WDW but this will be DW's first half.

Sorry for another question about DD's proof of time but, as it turns out, when I registered for her, I put in the hours and minutes correctly but did not enter any seconds (24). So she really has the wrong time (she was 24 seconds slower than her proof). Do you think we can contact runDisney to add the 24 seconds to her time from the PHM last month?

I will be staying at the Holiday Inn on Walnut. I got a good rate through AAA and it is close to the Expo and race start.
