Official Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread

Corral C for us (I'll drop back from B). Wide range of times in the corrals, but there are fewer than 2,000 people slotted for the earlier corrals where you have wider pace gaps. By my count from the corrals it's a total of 14,110 distributed as such:

A = 1,516
B = 1,550
C = 1,700
D-F = 2,300 each
G = 2,409

I still wonder why they took out Crystal Cathedral. That was nice. Guess their must have been something with the owners or issues in general.
Looking up the church, there may be some construction going on with the redesign for the RCD of Orange. Not sure they'd be working on a Sunday, but if so they may have wanted full access to the streets around them.

I'm so EXCITED for the Avengers weekend! From our numbers it looks like we will be in Corral A for the 10K (unless they do something really unusual).

I was wondering what the course would be like for the Captain America 10K, personally I'm great with having the same course as the Disneyland 10K. The course is very flat on the roads around town (no big hills), you get Plenty of time in the parks (more than the 5K or the Half), you get to run through the castle, and pass by a number of the iconic Christmas decoration areas in the parks (Town Square, Main Street, and Buena Vista Street). I'm hoping they have the World of Color fountains going in Red, White, and Blue with the Captain America march playing in the background.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Disneyland 10K course (or unfamiliar with Disneyland in general) you might want to take a look at the highlight video I made of running the course in September:
(It's a little jumpy, but hey I was running a 10K)

Also my last wish... When you pick up your bib, etc. I wish they would give everyone participating a "Fastpass" type ticket giving you one visit to the new Marvel Superhero Headquarters in Disneyland. I just feel like it is a big missed opportunity to not have that open for all the Avengers fans visiting that weekend.

Has the deadline to defer passed? My wife just severely broke her arm and I don't think she's going to be up for the Gauntlet Challenge. She's pretty mad about the injury.

Seriously hoping for some New Balance Avengers themed shoes to be released for this race. Would make Christmas shopping for my hubby much easier ;)

(Okay, and Christmas shopping for myself as well...)

YAAAAS! Just got the ok from the hubby to extend for a day. I'll get to see the Launch Bay and HQ. And hooray, corral A! I really never thought I'd get that high up in the alphabet!

Thanks! We'll see how she does after surgery to repair it today. She thinks she can at least walk the 10K.

Does anyone know what happens if you don't finish a runDisney half marathon? Do you still get a medal?

My understanding is this.. And anyone please correct me if they have heard differently...

If you do not finish, then I believe they give you the medal for that race you did not finish. However, if you are in a challenge and you do not finish all the races, you do not get the challenge medal.

So in your case, she would get the 10k and half medal and if she does not finish both, then she will NOT get the Gauntlet Challenge medal.

If someone starts a race and doesn't finish, they get the race medal. But if they are part of a challenge I don't think they get the challenge medal. Not totally sure about that though.

Will chime in additional support for the understanding that you get the individual race medal for any race you start and do not finish, but that you are required to finish all races that are part of a challenge to receive the challenge medal.

Obviously I don't know how painful the arm is today to walk or run, and even she won't know yet how painful it will be in a few weeks to walk or run following surgery, but it is possible to walk Disney races with the 16 min pace requirement. Keep in mind that's from the last person to cross the starting line, so if she can start in the front of her corral there's a bit of additional cushion to still try for it -- assuming it isn't too painful to walk (or run/walk) for the distance.

Need a reality check here:

I tweaked my IT band in an exercise dance class yesterday (further proof I have zero coordination). I was scheduled to do 4 miles tomorrow and 11 miles on Sunday for Infinity Gauntlet training. Now I'm thinking I should either stick with yoga over the weekend or just rest.

I did the Dumbo Double Dare this year, and I've continued with my running & intense crosstraining since then, including a half marathon two weeks ago, so I'm still feeling pretty fit overall for the Avengers races.

I won't be able to do any long runs next weekend due to travel, but I am doing a local half the weekend before Avengers, so I feel like I should just care for this IT Band issue this weekend rather than risking exasperating it.

Thanks for the info. That's kind of our thought right now. I'm pretty confident she could at least walk the 10K, and we have a friend who hasn't been able to do much training due to her own injury who is already planning on taking it very slow in the half. We'll see how she is in a couple weeks and re-evaluate the situation. At least it happened now and not the week before the races.

that's what I would do. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi everyone - new to this thread. My daughter and I are doing our first 10K. I have my bib numbers. I see the link for the 1/2. Can I use those same numbers to figure out my corral for the 10K? I see something about dropping the first number? Thanks!!

With the most recent updates the Pasta in the Park Party is all sold out, and the Half Marathon was at 94% (my guess is in the very last few days they may have gotten it up to 95%)

Welcome to the thread! Excited for you and your daughter to do your first 10K! You both are going to love the course! It's very fun.
runDisney doesn't usually release the 10K corrals until the weekend starts, and sometimes they don't even put up an official break down, you just find out when you get your bib. But below I posted some past 10K break downs so you can get a general idea.... But the numbers won't be exactly the same.
(For example at the most recent Disneyland 10K I was 30489 in the B corral and my sister was 30416 in the A corral... So she moved back to be with me in the B corral.)

Thanks for posting that! There are only about 3000 10K only runners for Avengers, compared to about 4000 for the 2014 DL 10K. Until we get more info from RunDisney, I would say if your 10K bib number starts with 304 or lower, you're likely to be in A and if it starts with 326 or higher, you are likely to be in E. Between 305 and 325, the exact cutoff for B, C and D is anyone's guess.
Have a great race-- Suzanne

Made it out to the parks today and decided to dress in my running costume to get pictures with Thor and Captain America at their Meet 'n' Greet location in Tomorrowland.

MeandThorsm.jpg MeandCapAmersm.jpg

Figured it was better than having to stop along the course, drenched in sweat.

Both guys seemed to really appreciate my outfit. Thor told my daughter that she had "a cool dad, though he'd be even cooler if he had dressed like Thor." Captain America kept suggesting different poses that we could do together. Glad I was able to get a few extra minutes with them both rather than the quick snap-and-dash I would have had during the half marathon. Now I'm ready to hit the pavement and complete the course.

So I started writing up a list of things I'll need to pack for the trip and realized there is no safe way for me to pack my Silk Dark Chocolate milk for after the 10K and 1/2. It's over the TSA req. for carry-on and would get squished in my checked.
Started looking at grocery stores in Anaheim and learned of Vons delivery service. Has anyone used them for delivery to Disneyland Hotel? I figured I'd place the order (for the chocolate milk, and whatever else we might need to add up to minimum) before our flight out, and see if Disneyland Hotel can accept the delivery for me or aim for when I know we will be in the room. We will have a car service pick us up at LAX that includes a stop at the store that I could stop at Vons, but if they deliver it would take away one less stressor.
Thanks in advance.
