Official Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread

I gotta say that being in Corral A is going to make it much harder for me, dressed as Captain America, to be fast enough to run past people and say, "On your left!"

Honestly I think A is a bit scary and dangerous. We've got folks from a 1:20 or so, to 2:10. That is a HUGE range. Slower overall pool if only 1500 people have POT's that put them at 2:10 or less.

Thanks for this. Corral A here I come. Never thought I'd be up there!

So two things to note: it's the Disneyland 10k route, and it looks like they took out the part next to the Crystal Chapel (which I'm pouting about because I liked that).

ETA: Oh and the corrals are set up more like the Disneyland Half vs what they were last year.

ETA 2: Uh oh. I think someone at runDisney made a strategic error. C, one of the corrals on the northern side of Disneyland Drive is this races messed up corral. It's traditionally been one of the corrals further back that gets the short end of the stick. I'm not sure how this is going to go for everyone. Best of luck to everyone in C and beyond.

I don't see it being anything like the DL 10K. And Corral C looks fine to me. Are you referring to the half corrals? Or the 10k? Please explain.

it looks like the same course as last year... Long path up the river. to the Stadium. Anybody know if it's the same?

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the exact same course. And I can't seem to find a difference between the two.

The Corral C thing I'm referring to is with the half. Look where Corral C. Now look at how much of a pace gap there is for corral C.

Huh they eliminated the Lewis Street hill. Now here's the question what's going over the 22 on Garden Grove like -runs off to text her local friend question-?

Got it. You're right; the 10k looks identical. I'm just glad to not be in one of the doubled up corrals D/E, F/G like at the DLH. I got trapped with too many people (and going too late) and ended up starting at the end of Corral E instead of in D.

Looking the 3D map version on my iPad, it looks like we go under the 22 freeway. There's a park we run by on the new street Haster. Obsessing. lol.

Corrals traditionally open at 4 for the half (4:30 for the 10k) at Disneyland unless something happens. If you want to make sure to avoid the mess you can show up when they open or shortly after.

There are pieces of it that are the same. I found last year's course here:

Looks like less time in the park this year. The route does not go to katella but takes the back of California adventure. It looks like it just goes straight through California adventure and mostly the back of Disneyland. Also, the route does not go past the crystal cathedral. unfortunately they kept the same path up the Santa Ana River Trail (aka the dust storm trail). let's hope the Santa Ana winds don't come around this year.

I've never been to CA adventure, and it's been so long since I've been to DL I'm pretty clueless. Is that stretch of mile 12 through or just outside the park?

Outside the park. It's at the end so the slow runners would still be running that section. they can't have them running in the park when the park has to open. hence, the first part is in the park so even the slow runners will clear out. That last part looks actually like the back of California adventure behind cars land.

I'm super excited for the races, but a little disappointed there is so little park time in the half. It looks like it might be even less park time than the DL half. Maybe because they aren't planning to have as many characters out on course?

I think it's that partly (if they stick with just Marvel this year instead of Marvel plus some from the Fab 5 like last year they only currently have 6 M and Gs to work with) and the fact they are probably maybe trying to figure out how to route the races with all the upcoming construction (going through behind Big Thunder was fairly common and with them doing Star Wars Land that's not going to be an option for at least a year).

The park time is slightly down by last year but from what I can tell it's not by much (maybe a quarter of a mile???). Funny last year the distance in parks was identical almost to Disneyland before they changed their route (though who knows if this years route will stay).

I still wonder why they took out Crystal Cathedral. That was nice. Guess their must have been something with the owners or issues in general.

I noticed in the Event Guide etiquette section that saying "on Your Left" while passing other runners is appropriate for these races. For Tink, they only suggested things like "Excuse Me." Have a great race. -- Suzanne
