** Official August 2024 Thread **

Hello August people!
My daughter and I will be traveling to WDW 8/18 to 8/25. We are staying at the Swan. We plan on attending MNSHP on 8/20.

We have not been since 2019. My daughter was in the last full DCP program before Covid.

I just spent the last week learning how to use G+. Now Disney has gone and changed back to a system that seems very similar ro the old FP+. I was actually looking forward to some lazy morning with stacked LL for the afternoon.

Now it's back to the rigid planning.
We can't wait to be back.
We will be there the same time as you and are going to the same MNSSHP!

Today is our ADR day and it is a really good thing that my sister was helping to get reservations, because I totally forgot! Anyway, the only one we couldn't get was Yak & Yeti. The restaurant reservations are loaded into the system for that reservation. We will just keep watching for it to open.
Yak and Yeti was always the one I could never get as well. I’ve heard if you sign up for the Landrys card, you can show it and do walk up at the restaurant.

Plan Ahead with Lightning Lane Entry at Walt Disney World Starting July 24

I am tentatively liking this change. I loved FP+ and didn’t mind Genie+, but as the person in our family who bought it and scheduled the LL, ILL, and tried for the VQ, I was really tired after always having to get up at 6:45. I know you still will need to get up to try for the VQ, but I don’t know that we will try to grab it every day. I am very curious about the cost for it though.

Yall have to report on how the party is!!! We go the following week.

I’m nervous F&W is going to be a madhouse that first Thursday but we are absolutely still going.

WE ARE ALL SO CLOSE NOW I CANT HANDLE IT.

I read somewhere that you can only take a Lyft to another resort if you have an ADR. Would we be able to Lyft to Poly for Trader Sam’s Grotto?

You will hear both Yes and No. It depends on the whims of the guard that day, but the policy is no ADR- no entry. However it is easy to take a Lyft to the TTC and then walk to the Poly- there is a walkway over to the left side that you can use to walk to the Great Ceremonial House and onto some delicious libations at Trader Sam's. If walking looks like an issue - you can jump on the Resort Monorail and it's one stop to the Great Ceremonial House.

So I was not happy at first when announced. As a professional stacker for the late afternoons with Genie+ I was disappointed with the change. But the more I think about it the more I'm ok with it we had great success doing the refresh method during FP+ days. I like that we don't have to wait till our 3rd is used to book the 4th(if thats really the case like ppl say) and I also like that I will not have to wake up at 7am. Stinks we still need to get up at 7am for a virtual queue though on certain days.

My husband decided we need to return to our happy place this August due to a couple of reasons. First to celebrate my 70th birthday this August. Then we have not been to in over 2 years. The year prior we went twice, but our trip turned out not the way we hoped, both times due to medical issues, once my husband and once myself. Finally this will more than likely be our final trip we snagged a room at AOA first time for us as we both love the skyliner which connects to both Epcot and Hollywood studios. Wish us luck that this trip turns out magical for us.

What is everyone looking forward to the most on their trip?
We are looking forward to our first stay (second time at Universal) at the Hard Rock Hotel. Looking forward to the express passes and short walk into the parks! We are also looking forward to experiencing the deluxe extended evening hours at MK and Epcot. We are staying at our favourite resort, Beach Club, but we've never been there for extended evening hours - really hoping on some short lines. I also am looking forward to trying the Regal Eagle quick service, Trattoria al Forno (new to use) and riding our favourite 'GOTG' ride!!!

We loved the Hard Rock Hotel, the walk to the parks, and the express pass. We weren't big fans of the counter service meals. When we went, I found a big discount for their version of photo pass. WDW has so many more photographers around in the parks, but I loved the ride photos that I got - Mummy, Hulk, MIB, Velociraptor Roller Coaster (I forget the name), Hagrids ride, Forbidden Journey, Jurassic Park Water Ride. We got some good ones at the Water park too. We love Scooby Doo and got great photos with the whole Scooby gang. (Now I'm really wondering why I didn't plan a shorter trip at Disney to fit in Universal.)

My favorite thing at WDW is the Halloween party, so I'm really looking forward to that.

Made my final payment today…40 days until we head to UO for part one of the trip, 42 until wdw
Us too! 46 days to go. I feel like it will be here before we all know it !

i am looking forward to our evening events -a deluxe after hours, MMSSHP and HS after hours. I’m hoping this helps with lines -an even more so now with the changes to Genie+!

We are trying a lot of new places to eat this time since it’s just me and my husband. Very excited for Monsieur Paul as well as our planned visits to Enchanted Rose and Dahlia Lounge.

This trip has been a bit of a headache to plan due to the changes to DAS (not sure if we will qualify now) and now the changes to Genie+. That being said - I am so excited to be going "home". I decided to spring for Hollywood Studios After Hours on our arrival day 8/21 so we can do that park out of the heat. We are going to MNSSHP on 8/23. Super stoked about those two things in particular. Also looking forward to steamy afternoons at the Hippy Dippy Pool at POP which is one of my favorite things at Disney! My daughter and I always take a mid-day break to go back to the resort for the hottest part of the day.

There will be so many new things for me, as I haven’t been since 2012. Definitely first time at MNSSHP is a big one!

I really want to eat at Be Our Guest and I have no clue where to fit it in to our already overly packed agenda.

Sun - arrival, hoping to visit trader Sam’s at Poly for 3 on the dot, and then heading over to Disney Springs
Mon - AK, Sanna dinner
Tues - DHS and MNSSHP, no sit down meals
Weds - CRT bfast, fireworks pre party
Thurs - Food and Wine at Epcot and AH at DHS
Fri - resort day and Akerhaus for dinner at Epcot

Where do I squeeze this in?! LOL

What time is your CRT breakfast reservation? If it’s on the early side, you could do a late lunch / early dinner before the fireworks pre party- but that’s probably a lot of food in one day.

For Trader Sam’s - the walk up list opens early - make sure you’re there ahead of open to put your name down or you could have a couple hour wait.

CRT is 8 AM. It is SO MUCH food in one day. I was thinking maybe 2 pm lunch before MNSSHP. We have park hopper tix so easy enough to go early, have lunch, get our party wristbands, and then hang out until we get in line for Jack and Sally.

Oh wow!! I had no idea. Thank you so much for this What time do you suggest getting there to put our names down? We know we won’t really be able to Lyft over there and will have to do a drop off at TTC and then walk the path to Poly to boot.
