***Official August 2022 Thread***

PSA for anyone who hasn’t finalized their plans yet…park passes are filling fast for days with Halloween parties. Lock in your MK days now!
Thank you for posting this. We have our tickets but had not made park reservations so last night I made our MK reservations. I will make the other reservations later today.

I am not sure how to interpret the news that park reservations are selling out for MK on MNSSHP dates. Either those days will have low waits and be great or long waits due to staffing issues and have long waits. I guess we will need to wait and see.

I've been wondering how to get my kids/teens ready for Star Wars rides. My 16 year old watched the movies with her boyfriend so that's good. But the other 2 really aren't interested in starting a long watch of Star Wars. So thank you for that recommendation, we're going to watch The Force Awakens and see if it helps.
Disney+ has a Behind the Attraction for Star Tours that has a nice bit about the new land at the end. DD is at least considering the rides now.

I can't believe we are under the 30 day countdown! We also need to watch Ratatouille and Guardians. We ordered matching "Ohana Means Family" tanks that will arrive this weekend, but we're still deciding what to wear for MNSHHP!

This will be my first experience seeing any special decorations at WDW despite many, many trips over the decades. (My daughter's too, but she's 9 so I consider that okay!)

I've revised our schedule so many times, but we are driving in Sunday, checking into WL around 3pm, hanging out by the pool and maybe going over to the CR observation deck to watch the fireworks that night. Monday is all about Remy and GotG at Epcot, but we have park hoppers in case we get things done early. It's a deluxe resort extended hours night, so we'll still end up at Epcot (which is my favorite night time park anyway!). Tuesday is up in the air--our park reservations are for Epcot in case something doesn't work out on Monday with those rides, but we have tickets to MNSHHP at night. I guess we'll see if MK sells out for that day and we can switch our not. Wednesday we are packing in our favorite rides at AK and HS and heading out after a 3pm reservation at Oga's Cantina. It's going to be a whirlwind, as always, but I'm excited we added some pool time in Sunday to enjoy the resort.

Anyone else going to be there the week of August 21st? Or at the party the 23rd? I'd love to hear your plans!!

I'll be there (staying at YC). We'll also do the MNSSHP party on the 23rd. My daughter's 8 :)
We arrive on Wednesday 17th and will leave on 31st of August. For now, we have 3 days for each park (with resort breaks, MNSSHP, H20 Glow etc).

Ah, what a great trip! We've never stayed that long but oh, how I want to. H2O Glow sounds amazing; I'd really like to do a water park on a future trip. I've been to Typhoon Lagoon ages ago, but my daughter hasn't. She would LOVE it. Ugh, maybe I should add that on Sunday instead of the hotel pool...

Are you doing a mom/daughter trip or full family?

Pretty sure we won't come back to WDW (we have to cross the atlantic ocean ;) ) but we might do UOR in a few years, so who knows... It will be, DH and DD.
Do you have plans for the MNSSHP?

We don't! We've never been so I'm just starting to read up on the candy bags, the meet and greets, how to not wait forever in line for the Haunted Mansion...and deciding if we'll do anything special for outfits. It's just my daughter and I (my husband went with us last year on a family trip with my brother and his family, so he begged out this time..) so we're keeping things pretty flexible. Do you have a plan?

I don't have a plan yet. We'll only have Halloween t-shirts and I have booked MK on that day to use g+ for the first 2 hours of the party if we can but that's it...
Even for the other park days there's too many unknowns (and i am a planner so it is killing me!)
I am making lists...

This is trip has been harder to plan than any other trip. I've never used G+ before, so there's that at the outset. But also--since we are prioritizing Remy and GotG--I've had to keep a whole day open to accommodate whatever times we get. I really wish they'd ditch the park reservation system or the 2pm park hopper limitation!

I ordered paper maps off eBay to sit down with my daughter and pick the rides we don't care about and the rides we must do. I'm hoping that will help my G+ planning and then I'll have a better idea of how much time we should expect to spend different places.

That is great. My daughter wouldn’t be able to chose. She is not a Disney fan anyway and I really struggle with my FOMO tbh.

We are arriving on the 21st as well. We will have spent the previous two weeks visiting family in Georgia. My husband is flying back to NY while my sister, neice, daughter, and I take a quick "Surprise Girls Trip" before school begins in Sept. We are staying at POP.
Plans
21st - Arrive, brief swim, dinner at Chef Art's
22nd - HS, lunch at Hollywood and Vine, dinner at Sci Fi. and Droid building right before closing
23rd - Hotel pool, lunch at Beaches and Cream, and of course MNSSHP. We ordered cute shirts from Etsy.
24th - Epcot - Lunch at Space 220 (for the 1st time.)
25th - Breakfast at Topolino's, check out, and Typhoon Lagoon before we head back North. Since we are driving home we plan to stop at some outlet malls along the way and finish up school clothes shopping.

Jammed packed but, I can't think of a better way to end summer.

Hope you have a fantastic trip!

We will be checking into the WL on Aug 23rd. We are going to MK for dinner that night but leaving afterwards since we won't be going to the Halloween party. I love seeing everyone in their Halloween costumes. It is really a fun night. Some of our favorite memories are of our grandchildren dressed in their costumes at the party. :)

For any of you attending MK on party nights. Opening hours changed to an hour earlier. So 7:30am opens for resort guests.

The article is incorrect. They only extended through 8/27 when they did the hours update a couple weeks ago. The 8/30 party is still showing a 9am open, although I agree that I'd expect that to change when they do the hours update for 8/28 through end of September. Not sure why this is posting as a news story dated today, since this extension (8am on party days, 11pm on non party days) has been true since 7/15.

Lunch at Saana is such a great resort day thing to do! I need to work that into a future trip. Happy Birthday!
