*******Official August 2017 Countdown Thread ~ Feeling hot, hot, hot!!!******

I was mistaken. I got the fannypack from ebags. It is the Travelon anti-theft classic waistpack. I has great pocket spaces and a hide-a-way bottle carrier. I like that I can use the bottle carrier or fold it up into the zipper compartment for less bulk. The material also feels substantial, not cheap.

We need to carry epipens, benedryl, sunblock, cellphones, disposable ponchos, ID, park map, glasses wipes, and lip balm. I think we can easily fit it all between us without anyone being too bulky. DH also usually has on cargo shorts so that helps too!
Thanks. I'll look into that

OMG! Just returned from a 17 day Mediterranean cruise/trip ... now we leave for Disney in 7 days! :cloud9: Just doing laundry and repacking lol. Can't wait for my Disney fix! So excited to be planning with all of you:-) Especially looking forward to our EMM at MK on August 15th!

We are also looking forward to the EMM on the 15th. We did it last year, and thought it was great. We even got there like 15 minutes late, and still had plenty of time to go on 7DMT quite a few times, plus pooh a couple of times, and Peter Pan as well. Breakfast was actually better than I expected it to be, and well stocked even though we were there towards the end. We were able to eat what we wanted, and take our time before moving on. As the crowds started to build, we were done with Fantasy Land, and moving on to other areas of the park. It is a great way to start the park day!

Not to long now for you. Could be counting the hours instead of days now.

Got in to MCO later than planned last night and took awhile to get to Yacht Club-happens sometimes :) Had fun in Stormalong Bay this afternoon but otherwise not overly impressed with Yacht, think BW is our fave Epcot resort. Very much looking forward to checking in to WL CL tomorrow :goodvibes

Yes, it is pretty close. We leave NY Tuesday morning to start the drive down. I have work tonight, then a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow morning, followed by 6 hours of work tomorrow night, and then some sleep before I pick up the rental, and start the drive.

started watching Avatar today. We got about an hour in (including commercials). It will probably take a few days to finish it. There's no way DD can sit and watch for 3 hours. Plus, I'm in the middle of binge-watching Game of Thrones and was dying to get back to it, lol. But, it's ok so far.

Wilderness Lodge is lovely. We stayed in the Villas there quite a few years back, and it was wonderful.

reallY? I liked YC. Actually.......I think I like all the resorts equally. i don't have a bad thing to say about any of them. Clients always ask which resort is better -- A or B and I honestly can never choose, they're like my children, I love them all equally, lol. :p

Wonderful to see you are already enjoying yourself.

We are driving from Top of NJ first time driving. But I am counting that first day of vacation!

Don't tell, I have never seen Avatar. I can't wait to see the land though.

It might be optimistic counting the drive as a day of vacation lol. Generally, there are only 3 places where the traffic can get awful. First one is in the Northern part of NJ . . . lots of early morning traffic there, as I am sure you are aware. Best bet I've found is to get on the road either really early, and beat that traffic, OR .. . leave a bit later so rush hour is over already.

Next place that stinks is the DC beltway, starting in the Southern part of Maryland. Generally, that traffic is lighter in August than it is in July, and again, better if you miss the rush hour.

Last place that the traffic stinks is I95 in the Northern part of Virginia. This is typically a lot worse on weekends. Make use of the EZ pass only lanes if the road looks busy, and try to avoid driving on the weekend, and life should be good.

I count our driving days as part of the vacation too :)

This is exactly how we felt about EMM. Are you worried that it is sold out that day? Last year they didn't seem to be as popular and it was so 'empty' - lots of room to move around / no lines / quick through breakfast. Now that EMM seems more popular, many days are selling out. Not sure how many tickets sold means 'sold out' but I hope we still get that feeling of tons of space/no lines.

Thank you for all those tips. Have a wonderful vacation.

Well, I ended up telling my daughter about the trip. She is over the moon excited. I am going to need her help leading up to the trip and she is so happy to be in on surprising her brother. My countdown isn't working for some reason. Tomorrow we're at 10 days. I think mentally I'm already on vacation. But I'm glad we have some days left. Ds has swimmer's ear and we're flying. The doctor let me look at it. Blech! He's already feeling much better after 2 days on the meds; but the ear is still tender.

No, I'm not concerned with capacity. From what I've read, they only sell a few hundred tickets. The capacity is limited by how many people they can accommodate in Pinocchio Village House, which is relatively small. I think there will still be plenty of room, and not much as far as lines go.

You're welcome. Hope you have a great trip too!

Awesome that your daughter is so excited. 10 days . . . almost in the single digits! Sorry about your son's ear, but at least you have some time before the trip for him to get better. 10 days should be plenty enough for that to clear up for him! I think you are going to have an amazing trip!
