****Official August 2015 Check-In Thread****

4 1/2 days to go for us! We are so excited! Am I the only one obsessing over the new Disneyland app??! ;p

Also, big hello to all our fellow PNWers! We are flying from Seattle, too. ;)

We have a reservation at Goofy's Kitchen for our dinner, the day we arrive, after a day at the DH pools and maybe Downtown Disney. I am reading so many great reviews on the new buffet at PCH Grill though and I'm having second thoughts about our Goofy's Kitchen reservation. :/ We've already been, but only for brunch, and it was a couple of years ago. I thought it might be a great way to kick off our Disneyland visit, but we also have reservations for character breakfast at Storytellers Cafe the next day, and then Surf's Up at PCH Grill in PP on our last day, so it won't be our only character dining option. Also, it's looking like Goofy's Kitchen has less characters now, too. Anyone been to Goofy's Kitchen for dinner recently with feedback?
Love the new Disney app! I've been checking it regularly to see what wait times are looking like at different times during the day.

Yay Seattle! Not sure how many of us are on here but I think there's a few

DD is no longer into characters and DS has never been that interested so we don't do any character dining but I read the reviews also on the new buffet at PCH. Sounds pretty good and the pics I've seen look tasty. I think we might try it one night, plus I feel it's priced reasonable for Disney.

We are another sort of Seattle family :) We used to live in Western WA, now live in Eastern WA. This time, we are flying out of Portland though because the flights were at a better time and were cheaper.

Basically what I'm saying here is that I hope it's socially acceptable to eat 8 churros in one day (hah)

Totally acceptable. I try and make our Disneyland trips "yes" trips. By that, I try not to say no when DS asks for something. Ice cream right after breakfast? Sure, why not?

Well, I leave tomorrow morning!

I am most looking forward to POTC to experience the better version out there vs ours in FL, and RSR looks amazing. Besides that, anything we don't have in FL - like the Fantasyland rides.

Mostly just to be able to walk into DL and look over and see Walt's lamp and try really hard not to cry like a baby haha

You are on your way, hope you have a lovely and safe trip!

I get teary every trip right as we walk through the tunnel!

We'll be there on the 19th for the morning, but we leave at around 1:30 to catch our flight at 3:50pm. We have matching shirts too, but won't be wearing them that day.

We leave tomorrow morning! The kids are so excited and bouncing around! I some how managed to get the bathrooms cleaned and all of the last minute packing done. By this time tomorrow we'll be in DCA!

Yay, you are probably in the air right this moment! Safe trip and have a blast!

If you look to the North and wave, you'll see me on Vancouver Island waving back! :wave2:

DS is also not interested in characters anymore and hasn't been for a while now. I think the last time we did a character meal was our trip March 2014 and even then we only went because we were meeting friends who had never done one. I've been eying the new dinner buffet as well...even though we have said that we are only doing one big TS meal.

Howdy!! Jumping in here to say my family of 4 is departing on our western extravaganza on Thursday! We start out with 4 nights in Arizona visiting the Grand Canyon and more before hopping over to DL for 5 nights! We are staying at Disneyland Hotel for 3 nights and Grand Californian for 2...we are super excited!!!

I'm hoping the D23 crowds disperse when we arrive Monday for our DL portion...lol!

just got my photopass plus disc and voucher!

you know, i was actually holding it together a bit before this; i was excited, sure, but when i saw this, it finally hit me that i'm leaving in 5 days and that i finally get to go to disneyland after wanting to since i was four and that i've been waiting for this for 8 months and it's finally here and holy crap and, well, i think i need to lie down for a bit...

At the airport to go home :). So sad to leave but ready to be home and rest-great, exhausting week!

We leave tomorrow and am hoping to be in the Disneyland by 3:00. I packed about two hours ago and seriously think I have forgotten something, but I will make do. Oldest DD and I are going to be there for a couple of days, and then DH and youngest DD will join us. Last hurrah before school starts. I didn't look at the school calendar for my youngest DD (senior), and she starts the morning after we get home. Oops! Can't wait to see all the 60th fun!!

We're here! Got in to SNA at 3:10pm yesterday and spent the evening at DCA. Goofy's Sky School was broken down when we walked past to get pizza, but when we were finished eating, they were testing it out. We went over to see if there was a line and the CM was turning people away. We waited anyway and it open about 1 minute after he said to leave! So we were the first ones on! There was a 30 minute wait when we got off!

Getting the kids up soon to hit rope drop at DL. We're in a Kids Suite at Hojo and it's great! The new Marriott next door looks nice, but I don't think it's open yet. Might have to put it on my list for next time.

We are here! Arrived at 11 and headed to DCA. We were starving because almost missed our connection, so no time for breakfast. Loved the Soarin redux. Aladdin was incredible as always. Jasmine was spot on. Tons of new merch in the shops. Trying not to buy until I can see what D23 has to offer.

Went back to the hotel to check into our room. We are enjoying some AC and WIFI before heading to DL for our BB package.

I hope everyone is having fun!

The closer we get to the trip, the more excited DH and I get and the more complex (and expensive!) our plans get.

It started as a lower budget trip to check out the 60th stuff.

Then DH wanted to add on one day at Universal.

Then we decided that we really wanted to stay onsite so we could send DS to the kids club and DH and I could go to Napa Rose.

Then when I changed our original hotel reservation from 5 days down to 2 because we are at PPH the other 3, the rate had gone up at the DI&S (darned exchanged rate!) so it was only going to be an extra $20 more for the two nights of we moved to the PVI.

Then DH found out about the new dinner at PPH so we added that and finally we decided that we really did enjoy breakfast at Carnation Cafe so that ADR was made this evening.

What started out small and not too expensive has definitely grown!

The next 10 days better pass quickly, who knows what else DH will want to add next!

:scared:

Yay! Left my family sleeping this morning and made it on PP! There was almost a fight in line-someone full on screaming at someone else for cutting.

You must have been somewhere near us in the PP line on Sunday - we saw that, too.

Glad to hear it. We're in a kid suite at the HOJO from Saturday to Tuesday before moving over to GCV.
I wonder if you'll get our suite, because we check out on Saturday! We're on the ground floor in room 1-118. It's the last one down the hall, so it's very quiet and we don't have to wait around for elevators.

We had an amazing day in Disneyland yesterday. We got there at rope drop and went right to Peter Pan. I think we had to wait 15-20 mins or so. Then we went to Dumbo, and as we were in line, we met a really cute, young couple who asked me about the hats and shirts we were wearing. When we got off the ride, the young man approached me and said we were just the family they were looking for to spread some magic. He was carrying a Baymax stuffie and explained that their plan was to have Baymax join families on vacation in Disneyland and then e-mail him their photos. Then we select a family to pass him on to before we leave. So, Baymax joined us for the day and I posted some of his adventures on instagram with the hashtag #baymaxdlr. He went to breakfast with Minnie and friends, got a bit wet on Splash mountain, and even stayed up late for paint the night and the fireworks. We're going to keep him until Wednesday morning, so he'll be with us all week! He didn't come to Knott's today, though, because he was low on energy, andI think he'll sit out Legoland tomorrow. We've made him an honorary Canadian by putting him in a Victoria Royals sinch sack (from our local junior hockey team.)

Thanks for sharing- that is a fun idea! I liked some of your posts on Instagram. :)

What a cute idea! I loved your pics.

We leave tomorrow and I have a ton of packing left. 10:30 now and I'm so tired! I have had a rough week, and visitors left Monday, so it's just not a good lead into vacation.

Back to packing I go! Hoping to be done by midnight.

I hope not - I want a balcony! Haha :) If we do it sounds like a good location, though, so I won't complain.

Cool idea with the Baymax!

This is great. I hope it keeps going!
