QOTD: Is your family doing any other trips, excursions or getaways this summer? Or is Disney/Orlando your sole main event?

WDW is our big trip this summer . But thanks to Porter Airlines 40% off sale I'm taking my GS to Boston for an extended long weekend as well. My Sis has a rental cottage for a few weeks this July... Waiting for an invite! LOL!

We already have a pretty full summer but 2 weeks in FL (1 in Disney) is our main vacation this year, also going camping for a week, maybe two. Then my boys have basketball and hockey camp for a couple weeks and we have a family reunion thrown into the mix too.. good times ahead!

In addition to Disney we are going to visit Grandma and Grandpa sometime this summer for several days. Otherwise we will just enjoy our pool and other local things.

My girls have their dance nationals July 13-18 in Ocean City Maryland. It's about a 5 hour drive. We are excited but i still haven't told my boss, he's gonna flip. Considering 2 weeks after I get back I'm going away for 15 days for Disney.

In addition to our week in WDW, we are renting a lake cottage in Maine for 2 weeks. It's actually my grandparents' old house, but we rent it from the current owners, so there are a lot of memories! My brother and his girlfriend are coming out from Reno to stay with us for part of the time, and my dad and stepmother are renting another place nearby.

We'll also try to get in a couple of weekends camping in central MA; 4th of July weekend plus one more.

8/16-23 and I can't wait! I'm a single dad going with my DS (11) and DD (8) and my biggest dilemma is what to do if one doesn't want to go on a ride and the other one does...any suggestions? Anybody possibly want to meet up for a day and help solve the problem? LOL!

I was in NYC for a week at the beginning of April but that was a work trip as I took my students and hubby stayed at home.

We may be having a weekend in Loughborough (UK Midlands) to see a former student performing in a production of 'Company' in May but haven't booked it yet.

We haven't had a foreign holiday together since 2011 so we are really ready for this one!!

Our main trip is going to the beach for 15 days. For us Disney is a little bonus before we leave the sunshine state. Since we'll be in FL for close to 3 weeks, the rest of the summer will be quiet. The only other thing we have planned is going camping at Gatineau Provincial park (QC) for the first time as a family.... should be interesting!

Disney is our main trip, it's the highlight of my year! But we'll also head to my parent's place in Manitoba for a few days. DH's family usually tries to get us to go camping, but it's not really my idea of a relaxing get away, so we'll likely skip it this year (again).

Would you be able to trust your kids to wait in a designated spot for you and the other to return from the ride? Our oldest is 7.5 and she'd be able to wait where we put her until someone returned.

Alternatively, only do rides everyone will ride.

I'd offer to help more than that, but our dates don't line up.

DH & I just returned from Las Vegas, our first ever kids free vacation. We spend most weekends at the shore and will do a couple day trips to the local amusement park. All in an effort to fill in our time between Disney trips

I was going to say Disney in August will be our only trip, then remembered I have a girls weekend in Vegas coming up to celebrate our 50th (!) birthdays. Gee, somehow it slipped my mind. Or blocked it out more likely.

We are doing a week or so in June, but haven't quite decided where yet. Somewhere to bike, hike and kayak. DH also wants to do quite a few mini camping trips to do the same. We are planning a busy, busy summer to celebrate our 20th anniversary starting with a trip to the Omni Bedford Springs we took last week and capped off with our WDW trip Labor Day weekend.

We usually go to the outer banks of North Carolina. But not sure if that will happen with buying the new house. We will see.

We will be checking in to CSR on 8/20... So excited...first time there! Only time not staying at a deluxe so I hope we're not disappointed! But I think it will be great!

8/21 Crystal Palace at 8:25... Probably spend most of our day at MK... At least book some Fastpasses.... Might park hop though

8/22 EP, Biergarten at 4pm, Illuminations Sparkling Dessert Party at 8pm

8/23 Keys to the Kingdom Tour!!! Probably spend most of the day at MK, but may park hop

8/24 Donald's Safari Breakfast at 9:05 all day at AK!

8/25 HS... Dine with an Imagineer at 12pm.... The only thing that makes HS a worthwhile day!

Orlando is our main summer trip this year, though we'll take some day trips to drum heller and sylvan lake this year.

Not arriving until the 26th but I second the pp who asked if you'd trust your kids to wait for you in a designated area while you ride with one. My DS11 was fine to wait by himself on our last 2 trips, and also with his brother (7, then 8) in some instances, like if a ride emptied into a gift shop or a non-crowded, easy-to-find area like TOT. If you're comfortable with your DS waiting alone, that would solve the issue of you riding with your DD. Not sure about DD waiting alone...............

This is our main vacation! DH is a pilot and he can only get this two week vacation slot this year. Our only only plans are a weekend getaway to Phoenix for the DisMeet!

This happens to me all the time, we solve the issue by lining up as a family and then DS rides the ride alone and we wait at the exit for him.
