Trip time feels far away today.

It does, doesn't it? We were just remarking on the same thing last weekend. Do you think its the weather? It still feels like winter......I think once spring is in the air, summer will feel so much closer.

Or at least that's what I am telling myself!!! :)

I literally just received an email with a PIN for up to 30% off room AND free park hopper upgrade if I make it a package of 5 days or more. Is this a new PIN? I was hoping for free dining. I haven't read about this offer before.

Yes, I believe this just came out Monday - I happened to book our trip that day and the CSR I spoke with let me know about this new pin deal which popped up on my account. It saves you quite a bit, especially if you stay at a mod or deluxe (we booked 6 nights at AKL for just a hundred dollars or so more than a moderate!). Since we are heading down at the end of July/first week of August, I am not holding my breath for free dining.

Ohhh I would like a free hopper upgrade. Got the 25% off our value- disappointed it wasn't enough to get us into a mod, but hoppers would make me happy.

All right, after an initial Poly trip planned got, er, canned--construction spooked us; not a little, but it was going to be a lot around our longhouse--we dropped back and punted.

Now we're more excited than ever--we switched to the CR with the help of our TA, and still go a pretty sweet deal. We've stayed at Wilderness Cabins a couple of times because of the makeup of our group--LOVE THEM--and AKL once. The Poly was the deal of a lifetime, as far as we were concerned--the rate was so good, we were staying club--but although we were cool with most of the construction, the anticipated beach construction in front of Hawaii just broke the spell for us. I realize lots of people are going to return from Poly and say all was just fine. Anyhoo, we just made that call.

Never stayed at CR either--but it seems everything we want to do is there, anyway! Here are our ressies (don't want to bore anybody, but wanted to get them up here so I can make sure everything is right!)

Arrive Aug. 28--dinner Chef Mickey's
Aug. 29-- CRT 8:05 a.m. and MK all day, Pirates League for our son at 3 p.m.
(we're princessing out so much, otherwise)
Aug. 30-- water park, which came with our package-- p.m. California Grill, might send kids to Poly childcare, then zip over to pick them up and check out the Poly progress
Aug. 31--MK, BOG 4:15 p.m.
Sept. 1--Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage

Yep, we're zooming in on MK and enjoying the resort. We always run around too much, imho. We've done dizzying trips with my older kids--they're teens now--and hit all the high spots, and they were a blast, but this is our 5-yr-old twins' first trip and we're just trying to encapsulate the magic for once, esp. with Fantasyland expansion--it's going to take 2 days to do it all anyway. Plus I'm a fan of spending two whole days at MK, esp. when kids are small and just breathe everything in.

I think this is just enough planning--we'll fill in gaps by eating sandwiches in the room, good snacks, etc. esp. since it'll be easy to slip in and out of MK and the resort. I was bummed about not staying club--was hyped up because we'd never done it, and I've never been able to justify the expense--but I decided heck, we'll have club in our room. It has a fridge, right? I can tuck in wine and cheese and cookies and fruit *almost* :cool1: as well as Club can. Or not. But that's my plan and I'm sticking to it. ! :lmao:

Now the only decision I have to make is: Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon?? :hippie:

Did you know there are rumours of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party starting on the Labor Day weekend? Josh at EasyWDW suggests that August 29th and September 1st might be Halloween party days  . Now THAT would be cool for your 5 year old twins!!!

Typhoon Lagoon, hands down.

We visited both last summer (check out my trip report .... the link is in my signature). LOVED the vibe (and the wave pool :cool1:) at TL. BB was......snowy (not our style). Both were fun days, but TL captured our hearts where BB did not.

Hi guys! I'm currently planning a trip for August 17-26th for my 10th anniversary with DH. We were originally planning on going in September when our actual anniversary is because we were hoping for free dining. But with the discount that was released on Monday plus the extra 20% off through Orbitz we would be saving approx. $1000 on a package if we went 3 weeks earlier instead. Our plan for now is to wait and see what discounts will be offered for September but book a trip for August now. If we decide the discount is a better option for us in September we will switch our ressie. I know, this is probably confusing :rotfl: Anyways so for now our plan is to stay at All Star Music August 17-26. Looking forward to sharing the countdown you guys!

My latest quest, to figure our how wide the vanity area is in the studios at BWV, VWL and/or AKV Jambo (standard).. If anyone knows and will share that info, I'd really appreciate it. :goodvibes

I have no idea of exact measurements (and pretty bad at estimating too!) but I've stayed in all three of those studios. So if you have a specific question about something fitting etc. I might be able to help.:)

And GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????

Dh's new boss told him that not only can he request vacation time before his probationary period was over, but that he would have quite a bit of flex time accrued by then as well from overtime. He actually said he should put in the request and go with us and that not going on vacation with his wife and kids was silly and they would make it work!!! He did say that one of our days didn`t work because of a meeting dh needs to be there for though. So we`ve tentatively put in his request for the last week of August (would be leaving Sunday instead of the Thursday and coming back the Monday of Labour Day weekend).

So.. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully my agent can move our dates at the Beach Club. If not, we are willing to stay somewhere else. And we aren`t telling the kids. He`s going to bring us to the airport and pull his suitcase out of the trunk:banana:

That is wonderful!!! So happy it worked out for you! I really appreciate it when bosses understand that work is important but family comes first and it's important to spend time together. Happy your hubby's boss is being so understanding.

pigletto........clear out your saved PM's, woman!!! :rotfl:

I just tried to send you a PM but got a notation back that you have exceeded your stored message capacity.

It's not so much popularity as it is that I had pm's in there from 2010:rotfl:

First off, great news about the new job and DH going with! What a great surprise!

For the studios, what I'd like to do is find a simple way to put up a privacy curtain. What I have is two of those 3M hooks so I don't wreck the walls. Then a fabric shower curtain to hook across. When I'm not using it, I'll just fold it up and put it away. I think it's 70 or 72 inches, so I'm assuming I'll need to place it across the hallway where the bedroom part of the room starts. I'm just wondering if the curtain is wide enough to go across the vanity space instead.. What do you think?

Hmmm. I can't say for sure but I think it's going to have to go in the doorway area that leads to the area where the vanities and mini kitchens are. It might work, but my first instinct was that it's too wide.

I think so, too. I was looking at YouTube videos of AKV Studios trying to guesstimate by counting the tiles on the floor. :rotfl: Silly, I know, but if each is 2 feet across, then it should be 7 feet, so no dice. But if each is 16", then it's more like 5 feet and might work. My DD has some special needs and has coordination issues so sometimes I have to help her out. I just can't see us doing that in the little tiny bathroom area...

Well the good thing is that even if you have to put it up in the doorway from the bedroom into that area, it will leave you and dd and good amount of room to get ready, and the rest of the family still has ample room in the bedroom. It might require some creative timing is all. With two girls and two boys in our family, we're always having to take turns. Basically dd takes the majority of the time, and the rest of us get what is left lol.
