Changes to our plans too

8/9 to 8/16 Pop Century
Added ADR at 50s Prime Time 8/12 4:20pm

Park changes
Added 8/9 AK
8/10 MK
8/11 Epcot
8/12 DHS
8/13 DTD
8/14 AK
8/15 MK

I love planning our trip but I am a little obsessed with it. We make plans and then I'm constantly rethinking everything! I think DH is having Disney withdrawals too because he is agreeing to everything! He told me today that I could add Memory Maker. I haven't yet, but probably will before the day is over!

We'll be at MK on the 15th too :)

Hi all!
I don't think I have officially joined this thread, even though I subscribed awhile ago. I will be staying at VWL mid August after a couple of days at the Portofino at Universal. I have been planning this trip for 3 years!! In 2012 I had to cancel because of my back. In 2013 I had to cancel because my DD needed one more course to get her teaching license and had to go during the summer. ( and it was also the summer of her getting her first teaching job!)
So now, we are hoping the 3rd time is the charm. We are staying in a 2 BR and we are 5 people- me, my DH, DD, 28, her boyfriend of 4 years and another good friend of theirs that we have known since they were in middle school.
My ADRs so far are Via Napoli, Raglan Road, Be Our Guest ( for DD's birthday dinner), Boma's, and Yachtsman Steakhouse. We are staying 8 nights but I have only made 5 ADRs so far. With the new cancellation policy I am thinking we will do more QS this trip. We also want to drink and snack our way around WS. :)
We have been in the summer before, but I was younger then and am no longer comfortable (mentally and physically!) with wearing bike shorts or pretty much any shorts. I am about 15-20 pounds overweight, with older looking legs ( think scary spider veins) that I would rather not show. I am an apple shape and need clothing that will not chafe. I need help! Does anyone have any suggestions for clothing and shoes? Or maybe you can direct me to a thread that has this info. I am looking forward to hanging out here and sharing strategies and ideas. ( also about FP+)
Happy planning Augusters! ( and TIA for any advice)

Hello fellow August DISers! So, I need some advice. We are booked for our WDW trip Aug 25-Sep 3rd. We are COMPLETELY paid off and BOOKED!! :) (flights, room, tickets, everything lol) Last week we found out DD 4 has been accepted through a lottery to the best charter school here in Boston. It literally is the cream of the crop, and we are thrilled at the opportunity for the kind of education she will receive at this school. So we went for a tour and during the Q&A afterwards I asked when school started. The principal looked me straight in the eye and said August 11th!! And then she said so if anyone had any vacations or anything like that planned, to take them before that date! dde33 I told her we have a trip planned, and she said she does not recommend having a student pulled out for 2 weeks at the beginning of the year. This school is really strict and very academically rigorous. But this is kindergarten! Now I am torn on what to do. I do not want to have to move our trip to the end of July/beginning of August, especially because everything is all paid for, but I also do not want DD to suffer in this new environment because of the trip. What would any of you do? DH thinks she will be fine, this will be the last opportunity I will have to be at WDW for my birthday (which is one of the reasons for our trip), so he says either we stick with the plan we have or cancel and go somewhere else :( I have called the school to explain the situation but haven't heard back yet. I'm looking for help on what to say. I figured if anyone could understand it would be my fellow DISers. Thanks so much!!!! :) Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
Wow that's ridiculous it kindergarten!! I'm a teacher and I say kids r only young once take the trip and cherish the memories!!

Hi guys. I will have to admit to not following the thread very closely lately. We close on our new house on Friday 3/28 and I am so absorbed with moving and packing that I really have not thought about Disney. I promise to update the list soon, but it will probably be after the move. Hope everyone is doing well.

My DH said today, "Why don't you order Memory Maker today in case Disney raises their price for that like they have been for everything else?" So I did! Didn't need much motivation to add to my planning obsession.

Might have already asked you....but where in MD? We are in AA county. Congrats on the new house. We are in the process of having our basement finished and it's such a long slow mess...cannot wait for them to be done. I am sure you cannot wait to get your keys to your new home and get settled.

Can you explain how Memory Maker works? Are there good stock pictures of the parks, the attractions and parades to choose from, or only the ones the WDW photographers take of your group? I was thinking it might be nice to take a break from taking so many pictures this trip (especially because of the heat) and maybe also be in some of them! :)

Memory maker is newer to me but I think it is a photo pass that includes ride photos. I have been doing photo pass shares for years now. You can find groups on Facebook to share with. The average cost is $20-25. If I find I want a ride photo, I pay to add it to my photo pass account. It is still much cheaper and I get all of my photos plus stock photos.

With memory maker you get all the digital copies of your photos, which is nice. I think I'm getting it for this next trip. Never done photo pass except to order a few pics here and there. But I really like the idea of not having to worry about taking pics during my daughter's character meals. The ride photos being included is awesome too.
There's a new deal (or was) where you could get it free if you booked for Aug 15th or after. (I think it was the 15th...a day after my trip started of course..)

If MNSSHP turns out to run on August 29th as rumoured, I would LOVE to do a photopass/memory maker share. Do you know if there is still an August group that's accepting members? If so, I would be very grateful if you would PM me the link to the FB group :) .

Thanks. Yeah, I hate packing too. This better be the last time we move for a very long time. We have lived at this house for 11 years and 11 years of stuff really added up. Lol.

Thanks. We live in MoCo. We are just moving to another part of the county. I can not wait, but then we have to get our townhouse staged in the next two weeks to get it on the market to sell. So stressful.

I think my group is full but there is a private page on fb that you can find shares. Let me know if you need help finding it. I can't seem to be able to link from my phone :)

I would love any information about links/sites where I can participate in an August 2014 photopass share. I have done them before and enjoy them.

Thanks!

For chafing issues, I swear by the anti friction stick made by Gold Bond. It looks like a deoderant stick. I use it on my legs...and so does the rest of my family. I also put it on my feet where my shoes may rub and I do not get blisters anymore.

I do not know if there is a photographer with each character at meals. I think the only photos included may be the staged photo before the meal starts. Table side photos did not have photographers available at CP in December at least.
