I have an ADR question August friends- our day is 2/23 and I live on the east coast but will be in Las Vegas for my bachelorette on that day. What time can I set up my ADRs?

QOTD: Are you the type of family that.... - Sets a budget and religiously sticks to it to the end? - Sets an initial budget, but ends up adding in "extras" along the way? - Has a budget before your trip, but throws it out the window once you arrive? - Says "Budget? What budget?" :rotfl:

We are "budget? What budget?" However we are not very big buyers and last year the kids each got one souvenir and a balloon and that was it. I would love to buy more but when I see the prices of things I hyperventilate! I bought myself Minnie ears and I don't think DH bought himself anything!

We pretty much set a budget and then we do not go over it. We bring our rewards card and gift cards to spend and have never gone over.

I have a couple of questions. We have been to Disney 5 times before however it was always during easter break and one time during Presidents day week in Feb. All of which are high crowd times. What is it really like at the end of August? We are looking at the end of August because its when they say the crowds are low and my kids are still out of School. Plus it would be nice if they had Free dining offered that last week like they have in some past years. Besides the crowds how does everyone deal with the heat/weather? We know that we need to take breaks in the middle of the day, we have always done this anyways. Drink lots of water etc. Is the heat bearable in the Morning and the evening? My DS can be sensitive to the heat and overheats. In February he was in First aid for a bit because he was getting sick from it. Of course at 12yo you know more then your mama and dont drink as much water as your told to. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have for me!!

We went the last week of August last year for our 1st trip ever. We booked it assuming we would get free dining, did not happen so don't count on that. The heat was tough! We went to rope drop every day, by the 1st or 2nd attraction it was already sooo hot. I know everyone raves about getting there before it gets hot but our most enjoyable times were late afternoon after it had rained and cooled down. I think the frog togs were the best things for us to combat the heat, but the pics we forgot to take them off in look awful!:rotfl: I think we will try October for our next trip and wonder if crowds will be a shock to us as we have only seen late August. Have a great trip. :thumbsup2

We are sun and heat haters who always go to Disney at the end of August and we love it! We go early, but we rarely take afternoon breaks. The key for us is making sure we are never standing in the direct sun. Many of the attractions we enjoy are inside, so that helps.

I know this sounds strange but expect to be hot, sweaty, grouchy and miserable. :rotfl2: Another words, expect the worse. You may be pleasantly surprised! :)

We've gone July and August and we prefer August for crowd control. Staying hydrated and ducking into air conditioning when possible helps with the heat control. We don't take a break mid day usually other than to go inside to eat as we don't like wasting time on the busses.

So excited we were able to take advantage of a 35% off pin for our last night (post cruise) at contemporary so we can enjoy monorail travel to MK for our last Disney night!!!

Now just need to finish paying off our trip, book our ADR's, port adventures for our cruise, FP+ selections and start packing lol.... Only 193 days to go LMAO!!!

QOTD: do you plan to make special shirts/outfits for your trip this year?

We've made tutu's for pirate night on the cruise and plan to have one set of shirts made. Otherwise it's wear what you want time lol.

I plan outfits for sure. I spend a lot of time trying to find the perfect balance between fashion and function and trying to use all the Mickey covered clothing I have and trying to Disney bound a little.

My kids often wear things we purchase that match parks, activities, etc, but I don't make my own things. I'm great at scrap booking, but sewing is not my thing.

We never wear matching shirts and we never coordinate our outfits, but my husband will be celebrating his 50th birthday during our trip so I am going to buy him/make him some kind of corny shirt. :goodvibes

I make my adr's tomorrow!! Im so excited!! Just typed up my excel itinerary schedule. Hoping for Pixie Dust to get all my times. Im gonna book Be OurGuest but will prob cancel when I get to get an FP+ for lunch. I was glad to hear I can just go for cupcakes. (the menu doesnt do anything for me)

WOO HOO!!! 6am I'm Ready!!!:cheer2::cheer2:pixiedust:pixiedust:

My 18 year old DS has a strongly different sense of fashion than moi. If I told him he'd have to wear clothes that co-ordinate in any way with mine, he'd probably flee :rotfl: .

He is always an excellent sport about all the photos I like to take, though, so I am happy to let him decide on his own attire. That said....on our Disney trip in 2009, we had matching T's for every day of our stay (if the guys wore Mickey, I wore Minnie, etc.). But DS was 13 then and it was not social suicide to do so :rotfl2: .

We've had great shirts made in the past. Check out MouseKouture on Facebook and rollupndye on etsy. Both women were great to work with! Highly recommend!!!

Good luck!!! I'm jealous...mine is Monday which means a workday morning :( Almost took the day off but not really possible with my schedule this week! Plus my DH would probably kill me if he know I took a day off work to arrange our dining for our trip in August!LOL!

Ha ha!! I know what you mean, before I looked to see what day totally thought I would call in late so I had time to do it all..

Hopefully I will be able to go back to bed after I make them..
