Have a great time!

Today will consist of soccer finals for our 2boys and laundry so I can finally start packing! 2 more days!

DH just posted this on his facebook:
In 7 days 10hrs we'll be leaving for Disney World!!!!
I wish I could comment with this....

We're getting there! I just got all of the boys outfits packed. Each one is in a gallon ziploc bag, complete with shirt, shorts and undies. It makes packing and dressing each morning so much easier. It wasn't my plan to do it tonight, but I am glad I am done this one! 4 more sleeps!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Cant sleep :confused3 Too many visions of Disney are prancing around my head!

Question that may very well have already been asked but I missed - when is everyone back to school? Wondering when school goes back in the states and how much will this effect the crowds that last week of August? We go back Sept. 5th, I believe, think this is the same for all of Ontario? Just curious....
Well lets see if I can get any sleep. Hope all those in the World are having FUN! (Of course you are!)

Officially 2 weeks now :lmao:

My kids go back on 9/6, but most school districts in the area go back on the 5th.

I have a question. I hope someone in here knows the answer so I don't have to go to another board.

We are getting to orlando at 4pm on the 24th The first night we are staying at pop. We have no park tickets for this day. The next day starts our vacation at Coronado with the free dining and park tickets.

OK so here is the question: We can't get in to our room at CBR till 3 ish. Can I activate the key to the world card at pop and have the Dinning points/park tickets? or do I have to go to CBR that morning? We have breakfast at 8:30 at Ohana on that same day So we would like to get over to the parks right after that. I would hate to have to wake up at 7 so I can get over to CBR check in then go back for Breakfast. :confused3

I have read that you can pick up the ticket part of your package up to 3 days before you check-in, but you won't be able to get the dining part until you check-in. I know there have some recent threads about getting tickets early so maybe if you do a quick search you may find one.

Check out this thread, post 15 need the end: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1452684

Kids in our area (southeastern Ontario) go back September 4th. We fly home on September 2, so we will have one full day between arriving home and hitting the books.

In the county where I live, year round calendar and modified calendar have already started the school year. Traditional calendar starts August 27. I so miss starting at the beginning of August. Our state legislature passed a law on when we can start school and when it has to end. The tourism lobby helped push this through.

Many of our private schools have already started.

We start school Sept 4th and fly back Labor Day afternoon. Squeezing every possible minute! Today we are finishing school supply shopping.

I've been reading this forum for months and can't believe I didn't see this thead!

My DGD14 and just me are flying down on Aug 23rd. It seems like excitement level increased 10 fold since we went past the two week point yesterday. I've been to the park about 5 or 6 times, albeit not to many recently. My grand-daughter has only been once when she was 4 and that was in MK for only one day. Needless to say she doesn't remember much. On to the plan:

We arrive at MCO at 11:30 on Thursday the 23rd and are staying at SOG until Aug 29.

8/23 - Check into SOG, get tix and proceed to HS
8/24 - Epcot EMH am, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall ADR @ 1:40 (She may be a bit old for this but she wanted to do it?) Probably end up at MK for EMH.
8/25 - Sleep in just a bit, then meet my sister and mother at Contemporary for ADR at 10:50. From there, probably wing it a bit.
8/26 - MK
8/27 - AK

Then we go to Discovery Cove, the 2 universal parks and Seaworld to end Friday. Staying 8/29 at Loews Pacific Resort to take advantage of the perks and 8/30 to 8/31 at The Swan, since Seaworld closed relatively early we hope to have the energy to go back to EMH Epcot. Whew! Fly home Saturday morning.

One thing I cant' seem to find, we are renting a car and I'm wanting to go to a store on the way from airport. Where is a good grocery store, close to road from airport to Disney and in a safe neighborhood? :confused3

Thanks all! Really enjoy the thread!

WELCOME!!!!

With the photopass+ you can only use the one card that is given to your for the ride and meal pictures. Others have stated you can take a picture of the card and they can use that to add the pictures. So, if you do a share you will have to make sure other parties get a copy.

From all I can tell, you can only (maybe) do this for ride photos. For meal photos, reports still say you need the card in hand. For our + share, we are phsically handing over the card. Quite a bit more work, but worth it.

Well I finally got into trip organizing mode. I went and picked up new ponchos from the Dollar store today. Found decent ones for $2 that have strings in the hoods which is great because it will keep them on.
The last ones we got were in 2008 and lasted us for 5 trips so I can't complain.

I made a list of groceries we'll get for the cabin, used google maps to find the places we want to eat offsite at Universal, printed out the Groupon for parasailing at the Contemporary (have to call tomorrow to set a time), and other various little loose ends.

All that's left is the packing and cleaning the house. DH is right in the middle of end of semester exams, but is done by Wednesday and then we can tackle the rest of the stuff together.

13 more sleeps!!! I am SO excited.
The only ADR I am still unsure about is if I should drop something to go to Trails End one night. It feels like we should at least try it since we'll be at the Fort. Maybe I will switch The Plaza for Trails End and we can stay around the Fort that night for the campfire with Chip and Dale and watch the fireworks from the Beach!

I would do Trails End. Take advantage of your time at the Fort.

No where close to Southern US but here in NovaScotia we go back Sept 6th. We arrive home very late on the 3rd so a couple days to prep and SCHOOL STARTS!! I am excited, my 6 year old....not so much....this is going to be a long 12 more years since he is only starting grade 1.:rotfl2:

School starts September 4th for our area of VA. My nieces & nephews in NJ start September 4-6th. (Different school systems) Our friends in NC start August 23rd (on base) or August 27th (in town).

This was a crazy week ~ van recall fixed, kid dentist appt, family member having angioplasty again (thank God open heart wasn't needed a 3rd time) and my son's 11th birthday yesterday (so all the kids birthdays are done this year!) Next week is hair appt for me (yay!) and new student orientation for my 15 yr old since he is changing high schools. My oldest was able to stay at the high school because he'll be a senior. My boys will be in 4 different schools!

Leaving a week from today! :cool1: Already did the mail hold & reserved the kennel for my dog ~ boy, that is expensive ~ but she is totally worth every penny! Still need to stop newspaper delivery. Haven't done any packing, but have a couple of grocery bags of food & supplies sitting in the dining room. Will pull out my youngest's clothes this weekend. The older 3, I'll wait til Wednesday to tell them what they need (X# of shirts, shorts, etc) and have them put it in my room just to make sure I approve before it gets packed, LOL!!

Oh okay so many of you guys start back at the same time as we do (now know it is Sept.4th :thumbsup2) Thanks for all the responses!
Thanks also for mentioning about the crowds, good to know. We have not been in 6 years so really cant remember everything.

Wow...I did it! I just booked a trip to Disney in February! I knew these annual passes would get me into big trouble! We live near Trenton, NJ and Frontier Airlines just added flights! We got 4 round trip tickets for $504!!!!!!! The hotel is super cheap too.....plus we should get an AP rate. The best part? The last day is my birthday....a dream come true!!!!!! :cool1::dance3::cheer2:

We got them at a small Ontario chain retailer called Giant Tiger. Won't be one of those near you in Iowa, though :headache: .

I love the "Disney brain" diagnosis :thumbsup2 . I am going to have to use that one. It is the perfect explanation to almost everything these days!!!

Your post about Giant Tiger caught my eye, and I thought fellow Canadian. Then I notice that we arrive at Disney the same day in 2 weeks. Our upcoming Christmas trips seem to be the same time as well. Then I remembered reading your trip report from last January, we were there at the same time as well. I am started to feel like I am following you LOL. Nice to see another family who teen still travels with them, mine are DS18 and DD15.

Wow great rate, which airport? My son lives in Philly and we could drive down to meet him then grab a flight together, instead of flying from Canada.

For that price it would be worth the drive.

Trenton Mercer! The flights are limited (only Mondays and Fridays right now). The sale ends tonight. Go to frontierairlines.com and use code Fly10 to save an extra 10%.

And PoohsFan, you'll get no flames from me. I take the kids out of school when it's possible. My dd can't do it in a semester when she has math though.
Bottom line, I don't believe it's my place to tell someone else how to parent and especially not on a message board. Family time is important too, and we all know our own children and school commitments best.:)

Thanks pigletto, I try to avoid answering questions like that since it is such a sore subject on some boards. However, this group is such a great group that I wasn't too worried about it :goodvibes.

I will be posting pictures and tweeting throughout my trip, starting today. If you would like to follow along, please follow me! My Instagram name is jacksallydis and my twitter name is lifedis (you just have to send me a request on there).

Sent you a request on Twitter!

lol, that's so awesome! And so ironic!! Maybe we should meet for coffee while we're there :rotfl: .

Where are you staying at Christmas? Our dates are December 23 - December 30. Its the first time we are going to be away from the extended family during the holidays. We are trying to add some new stuff to the Christmas trip, just to keep it extra fun.....a Toronto Raptors/Orlando Magic game, an airboat tour, Gatorland, dinner at T-Rex, touring the deluxe resorts to see the holiday decorations......and a few favourites too, like SeaWorld and breakfast at Ohana.

We are so blessed that our DS loves to travel with us. It was actually his idea to forego the traditional family Christmas and get away together instead. I can totally see him still holidaying with us when he's grown and married. Those family bonds are pretty tight!!

Do you fly from Canada or the US?
