****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

I completed kids pirates league invitation and pirates league vests(I made them super fast but it works) and I made them a T shirt(dis-igned by a lady on another board.) I am dont with my creations now.

Great job! I'm always impressed with DISers' creativity!

I need to get busy on our tie dye shirts...

Good Morning to all!!! :wave2: I know I am not on the official list, but my trip is coming up in just 30 days!!! pixiedust: We are so excited!! We will be staying at POR from Aug 22-Aug 30. All our ADRs are in place and we are getting crazy with the packing and last minute details....:goodvibes Of course my DH tells me to embrace it, it is all a part of the excitement of our trip!! :thumbsup2

They came out great! I love the blue. :thumbsup2

Step by step Team August, we're getting closer every day.

So, I have a question of the day....

Is anyone else ridiculously excited for the Olympics? I absolutely love watching the swimming, track and gymnastics. Last time I also got really into the beach volleyball as well, so I'll be watching that as well. :thumbsup2

U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

And a very quiet go Canada...............................LOL

What computer does everyone use?

I use a PC laptop, DH has a really nice gaming desktop and 3D monitor. My laptop is good enough for gaming too but I don't play very much. I doubt we'll ever have a Mac because they aren't good for gaming. :)

I went out shopping all day with my 2 kids. Back to school shopping with a dash of Disney prep thrown in. Among other things I picked up:

- Matching flip flops for DD and I from Kmart - the Athletec line. It was $7.99. A couple of weeks ago that sounded expensive and somehow this week it sounded cheap and I bought them (of course, I've been checking out $30 Reefs, Sanuks, etc).

Are those flip flops comfy? Do they have arch support? I think I am going wear my tennis shoes most of the time but was thinking i need some sort of sandals for when I wear my dresses. 7.99 is much cheaper than 20-30 dollar ones you have to order online.

SO I am knocking things off of my list now:banana: I can do online check in tuesday for ASM and thursday for AKL!

What are the benefits of online check-in? I was just planning on checking in when I got there. :)

Started a pretrip report, link is in my sig. Not quite sure how to do one that well so bear with me :goodvibes

I'm started to get really excited as I'm getting to the 30 day mark ... :upsidedow Thinking of making some different Mickey heads :cool1:

Ooh I will go read and subscribe to your PTR! Yay for 30 day mark!

So DH told me he thought we were staying until monday(we leave saturday!) Shoot, I wish I could add a day but another $75 pp for air fare change is a lot on top of food and hotel.

I completed kids pirates league invitation and pirates league vests(I made them super fast but it works) and I made them a T shirt(dis-igned by a lady on another board.) I am dont with my creations now.
T shirt for each-
Such cute shirts and letter!!! You are so talented! I love it! Meanwhile I'd totally try to get in another day or two if your DH is up to it! ;)

Meanwhile, I only have 27 days to go!!!!

Hi!

I don't post much on the board, but DH (youcansmellit) just showed me the august thread and I am so excited! We are 33 days and counting! :cool1::thumbsup2

We are staying at Corando Springs. This will be our first full vacation with just the four (no in-laws haha)

We need this break so bad and I'm thrilled to be going!:yay:

We'll be at CSR at the same time! 33 days for me. I'm excited for my ticker to start counting down in weeks instead of "1 month and..."

these are cute, too! What's the name of the Etsy shop where you got them?

So my mom and I are driving to Disney this year (from Massachusetts). Our first time driving. The flights were ridiculously expensive, so we just said forget it, we are going to drive. The original plan was to leave the 10th and stay over in North Carolina that night and get to Florida on the 11th and stay at a DTD hotel just for that night and then switch over to the Beach Club and start our vacation.
It's just going to be my mom and I and she will be driving the full 22 hours. My mom got an idea to leave the 9th and drive 4-5 hours and stop in New Jersey for the night so we wouldn't have to drive 12 hours to NC on the 10th. And that way she wouldn't be exhausted.

Do you think this sounds like a good plan? And if anyone has ever drove to Disney, what do you do to past the time?

Do you really think you're going to be ready to stop after only 4-5 hours?? I say do the 12 hours to NC. I've driven straight through from NJ to Orlando and that was like 16 hours.

We are driving to Disney too. Its about 21 hours for. We haven't driven to Disney before but we've driven to Texas and the Smokies so we've driven long trips. I like to bring books for when i'm not driving. Also getting books on cd (or downloading them to mp3 player) are great too if you're the one driving. I drove to NC from IL by myself when I was in college and I took books on cd and it really made the time fly. Finding something that both DH and I like is hard though. Also if you like podcasts that would be another thing you could download and listen to. My DH does a podcast and I rarely listen to it but when I went to chicago for a bridal shower I downloaded his podcasts and listened to them on my trip. It was great for passing the time. Maybe I will download some DIS board podcasts for this trip!

If you like games there are lots of driving games like car bingo and whatnot you could play too but if its just you and your mom that might be hard to do. :)

Have fun!

Just got done with our marathon trip to Houston. 12 hour each day...if you can switch drivers I say just do it. But if you have to break it up make sure you put the largest driving the first day. Lots of books, audio books are great and then so is having trashy magizines. lol:rotfl: it starts lots of conversations.

Now on to find ressies for the 8th. Hubby's company is giving them all the night off from the convention and wants them to eat in DTD. I need to make ressies because all of the tech guys are bound to go to Raglan Road for the beer. :rotfl2:

Love them!!!!

We will be at POFQ from August 22-26 and our trip is a surprise for our kids too! Have you almost told them yet?

We stayed at POFQ last year and loved it. I wanted to stay there this year, but by going to CBR (which we love too), we saved over $100.

This trip is a surprise for our kids too. They think we are going to Lake George.

Step by step Team August, we're getting closer every day.

Yes, I'm super excited about the olympics. I'm sure I will get minimal sleep for the 17 days.

I would rather just keep going. I don't really want to take 2 and 1/2 days up for driving, but my mom doesn't want to be too exhausted.

Good ideas! I might download some podcasts. I listen to one and need to get caught up on some episodes. Maybe I'll download the DIS one too!

Well we would switch drivers, if I could drive! So my mom will be doing the full 22 hours.

Audio books are a great idea and I'll put on my Disney music playlist, if my mom will put up with me singing along

We leave home NEXT FRIDAY NIGHT! Doesn't that sound SOON!
We are very excited about the Olympics. We are huge fans of London and the UK, so looking forward to the locales. So 8 days of nonstop TV viewing, then leaving for Disney. Will miss seeing the last week of the Olympics. Maybe we will catch something while there... :)

I have one ADR....lol I just booked Raglan Road for 7:15 on August 8. I'd rather do Sanaa but hubby's company wants them to stay in DTD

Last time my Mom and I drove to Disney, she drove straight through for the 16 hours. She did stop for half an hour naps in between because we left at 12 in the morning. She was the only driver and I scheduled stops but when we got to the state we were supposed to stop in, she would tell me no let's keep going. The Disney excitement took over. So you may plan to stop and I would schedule an overnight just in case but know that you may not use it or want to stop so I would just schedule hotels with really flexible cancellation policies.

We have booked a hotel in NC if we need to stop overnight (I'm thinking we will). I just want to get there cause I'll be SUPER EXCITED!

Those shirts are AMAZING! Wish I was that creative, never heard of Etsy... is this an American site? I am wanting to do shirts but have not tie dyed since I was a camp councillor 5 years ago and think that they may all turn out dishwater colour lol. May cheat and just do a coloured shirt with puff writing and maybe a t-shirt transfer.

Tomorrow it is 1 MONTH until we leave! Hooray!!!

Question - How is everyone going about planning? Do you plan out the days or just go with the flow. We have AK and DHS planned out but having trouble with MK and EP since they are quite a bit bigger.
