So excited we can all share a countdown together! This website is my fix until our trip!

It is my significant other and I's first vacation together at Walt Disney World!! We are staying at POP Century August 10th-18th!

Hey Sweets... our trips overlap. I'll be there the 11th through the 19th. I'll have something with a lime green Mickey head in my room window, but haven't decided yet what I"m making. I understand that writing on the windows with windshield chalk is frowned upon. I'll have to come up with something. Here is a pic of us. I don't recall if this is the thread I posted the last pic on or not.

Also...DolfinJuls will be there too at the pop. She arrives the 14th or 15th though.

We'll be there on the 15th to the 22nd. Staying at CSR until Friday then moving to the Contemporary. We should try and attempt a DIS meet if we can all get together.

Just got back on Sunday from 9 nights at the Pop Century. We had so much fun - the weather was great (no rain, a little hot), the lines weren't bad at all (we got to ride TSM 3 times on the last Sunday of SWW), and the deluxe dining allowed us to do so many character meals!

I'm having Disney withdrawls, but we head back August 12th for 3 nights at the Beach Club. I can't wait!!!

Although I have not been in August, I have been in mid to late July. The weather in Orlando tops out in July, and August actually has the same average highs and humidity that July does. So I expect it to be about the same. The thing about Florida. It doesn't get as insanely hot as the southwest or Texas does... its just humid. The high should be low 90's and the humidity will ruin your hair.. but Hey... its Disney!! That is the weather we experienced in mid July last year. and Every afternoon around 2-3:00, it WILL thunderstorm, then pass by like it never happened. Drink lots of water, bring rain ponchos and you'll be fine. I have very curly hair so I have to keep my hair in a contained style such as a banana clip or pony tail otherwise bad things happen to my hair. think Rosanne Rosannadanna! When we visit in the summer, we make sure to take an afternoon break for the pool.... just has to be before the scheduled thunderstorm or after. Otherwise the pool gets closed during the storm.

Sorry it's been a while since I've been able to get back on here. Since we were just there in Nov and really hit the touring hard then I have ALOT of time planned for breaks & relaxing at the resort in the pools. I actually chose the CBR because of the cool themed pools for the boys! My DH HATES heat so I know he is not going to be happy. My hair is straight so not worries there. Thanks for the head up about the rain. All the time I went I was lucky only rained once during our May trip.

Regarding Florida heat...

I live in Daytona. The outdoor thermometer read 100 today. I had Cameran out back in her blow-up whale pool (laugh later) for approximately 45 minutes, absolutely COATED in 70 spf waterproof sunscreen... and we fried. Well... I did. She has her Daddy's Latin skin, so she just got REALLY dark.

My point? IT's HOT.

70spf! I didn't even know they make it that high!!! My kids have their fathers italian skin and tan. I have to work on a base first then I can tan and not fry. But I guess we'll all be frying! I have to look for that I only have 50 here BUT it is sports and should hold up to LOTS of sweating

I went two years ago in August, and last year late July. It's HOT! We really tried to not even pay attention to the weather. Never checked the news before we left or anything. I think that helped as last year we had a couple days around 105 from what people were telling us on the buses. In July it rained every day for at least a little bit in the late afternoon. But two years ago in August it only rained one day, we were very surprised. I'm expecting more of the rain each day this year too!

Been twice in August, this trip will be our third. I'm from NY, it doesn't get that hot here very often, and I hate the heat.

Florida is hot in August. Expect temperatures to be at, or above 95 degrees daily, and that's not just mid day, it's that hot when you step out the door first thing in the morning. Expect the humidity to be at, or above 95% daily, all day. Expect it to rain every day, for a while, perhaps as little as 10 minutes, or as much as an hour. Occasionally it will rain longer, but most days it is a short storm.

Now, as bad as that sounds, and it is bad, it isn't AS bad as you think it is. So much of Disney World is air conditioned that you really don't spend as much time out in the heat as you would think. Drink plenty of fluids, take a break when you need it, and take advantage of attractions like COP, Country Bears, Ellen's Energy Adventure, and any of the other nice long air conditioned venues. Take your time during meals, and enjoy the rest, and cool air, and you'll be fine in the heat.

Tomh you are right it doesnt get that hot here in NY. I'm on the island and with the ocean breeze it's nice here. I cant fathom 95% humidity with 95 degree temps!? Today it's hot, just got back from taking my son to school and it felt like FL. That's what made me remember that I asked this question from the group. I remember in May the second we left the resort in the morning it was HOT. In NY mornings are cool in the summer (most days) Like I said before we were just there in Nov so we'll be skipping somethings and doing some of the things we missed and the things we loved. I know we'll need to get to the park at rope drop and leave after lunch for a break at the resort pool. I figure then we'll spend the hottest part of the day relaxing. And return to the parks for dinner and night touring. Oh and I plan on skipping AK this time . Hopefully my DH wont kill me Thank you all for your Aug advice! Got some really great tips!!

I'm so excited!!!!
We went to WDW in May 2009 and December 2009, and were planning our next trip for May 2010 with my parents. Our Summer vacation is August 14 to 28, and we had planned on doing stuff in our local area (water park, zoo, botanical garden, restaurants, etc). But then we begun doing the math, and figured we'd easily spend a thousand bucks doing that (based on past experience)... So we decided to do the crasiest thing, and booked a 7-trip to WDW yesterday! Yay! I feel totally nuts and irresponsible doing that, but so what? I don't care if people think I'm insane: we have no debt, no kids, we're not hurting anyone... Real life will just have to wait for us: I'm sure it'll be there when we return.

However, it is going to be a budget trip: we have free QS, and will not spend anything more on food or drinks, the credit card will remain in the hotel safe, and the only extra money will be for mousekeeping and lockers at the water parks. I'm just a bit dissapointed Toy Story Mania, One Man's Dream and It's a Small World will be closed, but that won't make me cancel.
