Official AUGUST 2008 CODES to be posted here please!!:)

OK! I have posted on another thread titled I believe free dining 2008! And a DISER there has posted that a website called free touring plans.com has announced that they have heard rumors from mutiple sources inside and outside of disney that FREE DINING WILL BE OFFERED as of April 10th! Although it is not confirmed it is a rumor! I think we maybe off to a good start! Now I'm hoping 1 that the rumor is fact and 2 that my dates are within the time frame!! And I did check for myself just to see it with my own eyes!
it's under News!!!   :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

If they do have the free dining, what do you do if you have already paid for the DDP. Do they refund, offer an upgrade? Just curious.

When there have been general public codes for room only and packages in the past, how much has the discount been? I am looking for August 3-10, but I already have a AAA discount of 20%. Anyone know if the general code is usually better than 20% off?

Marsha

I was wondering about that too. I haven't booked anything yet and probably won't if free dining doesn't come out. But I have read on these boards where a lot of people have booked already and will just cancel later if nothing happens.

And right now, when I put my dates in on the WDW website, I have my pick of any resort, any room, including the villas, except the standard room at the Cont. And that's probably just because they demolished about half of those rooms. ;)

But we shall see...........I hope we see soon!

We booked in advance too - we got a 20% code and I wanted to make sure we could get a Family Suite, and although we might have to cancel if Free Dining doesn't work for our dates (arriving on the 25th of August), a REALLY good airfare might make us go anyway.

We have friends who want to come along, and they are now tempted to get a Family Suite too. Since I can book an extra room with my 20%, I called just before the weekend to see if I could get another Suite at the 20% off - or, worst case, could our friends use their CAA/AAA membership to get the same 20% discount. BOTH were available!

So, if during the last week of August - not yet hitting the even slower post Labour Day week of September - the VERY popular Family Suites still have rooms eligible for OTHER discounts, then I think we have reason to be hopeful that occupancy rates aren't that high yet.

Considering that, I'm hopeful for two things:

1. The Values WILL be included for the Public Free Dining
2. The last full week of August will be included in the promotion - and maybe the week before, although I didn't ask about the Suites for that week.

Spoke to CM about 20 minutes ago... I was getting a quote for late Aug.. and he told me to look for it in about 2 or 3 wks from now....he also said it is about 90% sure it will be offered but to say when (date wise) he didnt know... they dont know until that morning...

With the free dining he gave me a quote of 1100.00 for seven days..
Value resort
4 day ticket w free dining - no park hopper or water parks though which is cool because we stay at the resort anyway... at the pool...

I am so excited....

That sounds like a GREAT rate, I have been trying to price out anything in the last 2 weeks of august, and haven't come anywhere close to that cheap! How many in your party? THX

My girls and I are going Aug 7 - 13th for the youngest's 8th birthday....a code would be awesome...

You call up Disney if that is who you booked through give them your confirmation number and tell them that you would like to add the free dining promom to your package and they will either refund you the difference or put it on your ressie as a credit and you will have funds to spend when you get there! Whichever you prefer! The only problem maybe if the resort you want is sold out by the tiime you call because they only block off so many rooms for free dining! My first choice would be POP then Movies then Music then either POR or CSR! AKL if the deal is good enough! LOL! Hope this helps! Keep watching these noards you will find out! I hear from different places that it should be announced soon! I lerk around these boards thats the best way to find these things out! Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

I'm very new to all of this, so I'm hoping that what I'm reading is correct.

You can book a room/package/whatever, and if a code or promotion comes out after you've booked, you can get a refund/credit? Is that right?

They seem to hand out a lot of deals...hopefully I'll be able to snag one!

Hi.

I'm new to the site and have already booked my vacation from 8/11 to 8/17. Just wanted to join in the thread and hopefully get some discounts....and tips as this is our first time.

Hi Tosha!

Welcome to DIS :welcome:

Last year I signed up and learned SOOO much. August is a great month for discounts but usually toward the later portion. Usually at the end of August or the beginning of september, Disney offers the greatest of great discounts because a lot of kids are back to school and it is very slow down there.

If you can flex your dates, the offer is usually extended to the general public around April for late August-September.

If you can't flex your dates, call Disney and ask them if there is a code connected to your household which may offer you up to 40% discount. There are usually deals all year either on rooms or tickets or dining. Since 2005, the Aug-Sept. discount has been free dining offered to any guest staying at an official Disney resort with a package deal. All of your food (1 table service, 1 counter service and 1 snack per day per person) is free!! A LOT of people, (including me) love this deal because you spend so much on food and the food there is not cheap.

Stay tuned, we'll make sure you are up on all the happenings in August. Just remember to stay as flexible as possible about your dates and try calling to see if you have a "code" attached to your household.

Welcome!!! :flower3:

FYI Maybe you already know this (couldn't tell from your post) but the Family Suites were not included in Free Dining for 2007 or 2006. You could book them with other discounts but not free dining. I personally checked both times during the Disney visa pre-sale. 20% off on the family suites is a great deal! Good luck, Marriedmyprince

In terms of the FS being allowed for FD, they definitely were not in '06, but apparently there were a very small number that were offered for '07. The CM's have said that initially, the FS were excluded from all promos, and that has slowly changed. You can now (depending on availability) apply a AAA discount, and the PIN Codes have been allowed too. I think a few people on the boards mentioned that they were able to get them on the recent ticket upgrade promotions.

Essentially, it's hit and miss with those rooms. If FD comes out for our stay, but they won't give us a FS, while disappointed, we'll switch to two connecting rooms at one of the Values. Not our first choice, but simply being at Disney is the main thing. Actually, the two room scenario is quite a bit cheaper. We only have to book one of the rooms at rack on FD, the other room can still be booked at 20% off - and we have two ways to get that, a PIN and we have CAA (AAA).

There is never a guarantee, of course, but we're hopeful!

We have currently have room reservations using the 40% off room code. If they offer free dining, we will probalby try to get the free dining over the 40%off room code as that is a better savings. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)
