hi everyone!!

I am happy to announce I will be joining the april 2013 trip thread!! Every year we have went we have done April/may trip. Its our fav time to go!! We were supposed to take this year off(hubby wants a break, he is crazy) BUT once we realized all the factors that raise our trip price next year( ds turning 9, having to pay for baby, and not being able to get a standard room as a family of 5) we decided to just take the plunge and enjoy this year bc its not going to happen as often as it always has for us bc of money..booooo:sad:

So I would love to join in on the convo!! I don't have our dates set in stone yet bc we are paying for our trip with income tax money( cmon w2 form!!) So once I know that I will def get back with exact dates and hotel. We are hoping to try AOA this year. Hoping there will be LM rooms available with booking last minute. If not we will prob go back to ASMo bc that is our fav:bitelip:

I am so impatient though, every year we have booked it is literally always a last minute thing so I don't have a long countdown. This is actually the earliest we have said ok its a definite thing. I don't know how you lal do it planning so far out..i want april here now!!:hourglass

Anyway that's my info for now and looking forward to being here for the countdown with you all!

I'll add you to the first post under "We don't know our dates yet" and I'll move you as soon as you make your reservation.

I've been planning this trip since we got home from our April 2009 trip. Originally it was planned for our 35th anniversary in April 2012 but we had to cancel it a week before leaving. So we decided to shoot for our 36th anniversary. I guess that makes me having been in planning mode for this trip for four years (although we did have an unexpected trip in Nov. 2010 as a gift from my deceased mil which was planned in just a little over two months).

I'm laughing at myself because aside from our 1st and 3rd day in WDW, I'm attempting to change almost everything.

3/31 arrival day for everyone (10am for me and DH, noon for my brother, 2pm for my parents.)
Park: Animal Kingdom
Dinner: Narcoossee's @7:15

4/1
Park: planned for DHS, changing to Epcot
Breakfast: planned for Chef Mickey's, changing to 1900 Park Fare
Dinner: planned for Brown Derby, changing to Flying Fish or Yachtsman Steakhouse

4/2
Park: Magic Kingdom
Breakfast: Crystal Palace
Dinner: Citricos

4/3 departure day for my brother, 4pm flight, 1-ish for DME
Park: planned Epcot, changing to DHS
Breakfast: planned for 1900 Park Fare, changing to Chef Mickey's or Cape May Cafe
Dinner: DH and me, Hoop Dee Doo Review, mom and pop on their own

I think we need a full day at Epcot together instead of DHS. This is a trip focused on Mom (celebrating her retirement), she will love the Flower & Garden Festival, we all love TT and Soarin', Mom isn't really a ride person and she loves World Showcase. DH and I love DHS, but we're staying extra days so we'll go there on our last day for AM EMH.

WHEW!!!

Thanks for the link to the FB group. I wish I were going in April but I'm actually trying to help my friend. She is pretty overwhelmed with the Disboards so I'm hoping the FB group will be easier for her to deal with :) Thanks guys !! I sent her the link. Trying to make a May trip work for us but might have to wait till october! April is a FABULOUS time to go though!!

hi all, I was just wondering what some of you do on departure day, my flight isn't until 3

Waiting at Orlando airport is actually not too bad. It's like a little mall in there. I've scored some good deals on Harley Davidson sweatshirts. lol

Since we take our daughter out of school for trips, we've spent the time getting homework caught up too. :)

argh, so frustrating having a non- disney- loving DH. I cant even talk to him about it.

me: so, i' m super excited, i booked us a ressie at Boma!
dh: *blank stare*
me: want to see pics of the hotel?
dh: nah, i' m good.
me: want to watch thecruise dvd?
dh: uh....maybe some other time
me: want to know the meals i booked?
dh: surprise me

:confused3:furious::rolleyes2

Ugh! That would drive me mad! My DH does like Disney a lot....although it would not be wise for me to bring it up right now while the Pats game is on....:duck:

Yesterday, he was actually saying how Disney can't come soon enough and that he's ready now...so am I!:hyper:

DH is a huge Disney fan, thank goodness, but he's mocking me for the lengthy, detailed email I sent him, my mom, dad and brother tonight with the schedule for 3/31-4/3 with parks, dining and side notes, while asking for input on MK or Epcot on 4/3 so I could plan our breakfast that day. And also letting everyone know that Dad and I decided, without anyone else, to scrap our Brown Derby ADR for Yachtsman Steakhouse. Plus I'm reading menus to him now too! Either way, if no one else gives me input, I'm making the final decision for our last day! Lol!

at least he doesnt want to be involved in any of the planning and decision making; that would be unbearable for me to have to give up even one iota of control, lol. i would seriously lose sleep if i couldnt plan everything 100% the way i wanted. he' s so oblivious; every time i attempt to talk about it he goes "so, what are we going for 3 days?" EVERY TIME! Suuuuure, 3 days. ;)

Excellent point!! Mine is like that too, he "comes along for the ride" but I just want someone to pipe up about our last day. DH won't, but it would be nice to hear from the other family members. Ugh.

OMG, mom just told me we have park hoppers. That's great, but I've never planned a trip with park hoppers. Now what!?! Everything was all coordinated, and now we have hoppers. Wiping the slate clean and starting all over. Lol!

funny about the DH! Mine is excited and ready to go now too! Yesterday he says: So where are we eating again? SO I name a few places and he says we are eating at Columbia harbor house right? I say uh yeah its a counter service we don't need an ADR for there.....he replies oh good then I want to eat there twice. I like it there too, but don't really want to eat lunch at the same place on both our trips to MK! oh well, kids like it too.

Anyone have any reviews recently from Boatwrights at POR?

My Dh has told me I'm obsessed. I didn't get this into the planning last year, but it was our first Disney trip last year. Now I want to be more organized, and we have food issues to deal with this year (DD has celiac).

DH is so impatient, though, that without my plan, he would be crabby about waiting in any lines, which is unavoidable going on spring break.

My DH will go on and on about how we have such great vacations because of all the planning and effort I put into them, and how most people aren't so lucky to have a wife that can plan and research so well, and how we "do" Disney so much better than anyone he knows because of how well I plan it, etc, etc.

But then, everytime he sees me at the computer working on something for the trip, or if I mention something about Disney that I just learned or though about, he rolls his eyes and tells me I'm obsessed, and blows it off like it doesn't matter and I'm wasting time.

How on earth does he think these awesome, well-planned trips happen??? Sigh. That's my vent for tonight.

I've got my husband excited about Disney, but not nearly as excited as I get. Reading "Surprise me" was like deja vu!

Eating is a big deal for my husband. He has a few things he must do, and then gives me free reign with everything else with the caveat -- Make sure they have seafood on the menu. (And he does not mean fish, he means shellfish.) But he really is not interested in hearing me talk about it, his eyes glaze over. I've decided to cancel our lunch Le Cellier reservation and I'm thinking seriously about Teppan Edo and I've been trying to explain to him what it is like, even sent him videos. He says as long as they have scallops or shrimp he'll be happy.

A man after my own heart.....I could happily eat shellfish at every single meal.. occasionally throw in a piece of beef and i'd be in heaven. I could go without chicken or pasta for the rest of my life.....unfortunately chicken & pasta is what my wallet usually allows me to eat, lol

Welcome to my world. lol My DH just wants the trip over with. :sad2:

When it comes to a hubby's involvement, I'm not sure what is worse...one that doesn't want to be involved or one that has "moments" of involvement...my DH loves Disney but trusts that I will make plans that he is happy with. When I tell him what the plans are, I think he only half listens...and then he'll have a moment where he actually thinks about it (after I've made the plans of course) and says "are we staying at XYZ resort, or eating at XYZ restaurant???" and then proceeds to tell me why he thinks his choices would be good...which typically leads to me having to change a few of my plans that I had already told him about.

I sure do love him though!

My hubby is the same. He says he needs a break from Disney! It's not exciting to him anymore Bc he says we go to often. Makes me sad. I get just as excited as the first time everytime! I wish he had that type of excitement.
His fav thing is also the food.
I do all the planning and he just goes along for the ride. I try and talk plans with him weeks in advance but I think he gets sick of hearing me. He just nods and agrees. :rotfl2:
