Official American Idol Season 7: Top 10 to ??

I think it is fair to expect there to be a thread to discuss the singers and the show, and not have that thread co-op'ed for personal discussions that have nothing to do with either. I think having two threads satisfies both needs.

You may not see the issue, and I'm not surprised if you're interested in those side conversations. However, others do, as do I. Please don't dismiss our concerns because you don't share them.

BTW: I'm part of those "same people year after year" -- I'm not "new people".

Wasnt talking about you Bicker and I'm not dismissing the concerns. All I am saying is this thread always strays yet always gets back on topic when need be. Fact is we have 3 threads on this season alone and most of it is only about AI but we always stray about genre's or stats or whatever. yet when AI is discussed which is the majority of the time it takes off running. Starting a new thread for a page or 2 here or there is ridiculous. Where was that person the other 2 threads and 60 pages before the last 3. Plenty of AI discussion in here

and just how many posts did you make in the thread we just had to close cause it reached limit....1...why try and change whats worked great for years and for three threads this season. I read through all the talk and respond towhat I want and skip what I want

After Amanda's departure last week, I basically lost interest in writing reviews. However I did take a few notes last night so here goes...

Ramiele: Carrie Underwood sang this and sang it a lot better. 5

Jason: Couldn't understand a word he was singing. 6

Syesha: Probably her best so far. 9

Chikezie: Shaky beginning but about a third of the way through it became magical. 8

Brooke: She just trashed my most favorite song. 4

Michael: He has my husband's birthday. Better than any of the other weeks but I still don't think he has a very good voice. 8

Carly: The end of that song was HORRID. Gave her a 5 and she was lucky to get that.

David A.: Theme park performance as Simon said. Dreadful. 2

Kristy Lee: A bit pitchy but, in comparison to her other weeks, this was pretty good. 7

David C. YUP! 10

Get rid of the mosh pit and the waving arms. Oh and someone dress Simon. He looked like a slob last night!

I dont like the fans up front either its distracting and the background singers need to be quieted.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates seeing all the mosh pit arms waving about when the camera is focusing on the singer's face. Geez, how distracting and just plain annoying!! Happened several times and I really don't understand why they have that camera angle, get rid of it or make the mosh girls keep their arms at their sides for goodness sakes!!

I LOVED David Cook's and Michael John's performances!!! I just can't decide between the two who I like better!!

I also LOVED Kristy Lee Cook singing "God Bless the USA"!! Wonderful song choice and she PROVED she CAN sing, and I'm really glad she is still there!!

I agreed with Simon when he said David Archuletta's performance was like a singer in a theme park. I'd never heard the song before either.

I disagreed with the judges about Chikeezie, I thought he did a wonderful job and I'm loving his voice more and more each week.

I would like to see either Ramiele or Jason go home tonight.

Good grief these threads move too fast. I want to post, but I can't keep up, so I end up lurking most of the time. lol I try not to read too much before the show because I don't like the spoilers, so by the time I get to the board a new thread has started and it's already over 60 pages!

Anywho.....I thought that Ramielle's back ups were singing way too loud. I'm not sure that I ever heard her voice at all.

Last night was the first time I've liked Carly at all. I actually thought she did a good job with the song. It's one of my all time favorites so I was really worried at first. I didn't like the ending though. I think someone told Randy that he was going overboard with her too. Last night was the first time he has EVER said anything negative about her. It didn't even seem like a sincere insult, more like someone made him say it.

David Cook freakin rocked that song out! I didn't even realize what song he was singing at first. I think I want him to have my babies!

I was so excited that Michael Johns sang an upbeat song and really tore it up. Man, I could look at him for days without blinking. Aw honey hush!

I had never heard the song that David A sang, but I kept thinking that it sounded like a Disney show type performance. It was fun and upbeat but not AI material.

I thought Brook did good with that song. I am not a fan of the song and she made me enjoy it. I think it's funny how some contestants can make a mistake and they pamper them yet another would be ripped apart for it. I didn't get upset at her bad start, but was surprised that they actually praised her for it.


I'm hoping that Ramielle goes home. I can't stand when they talk to her. She makes my head hurt. "it just went bye bye" ugh!

I totally agree with those waving arms. It is so distracting to watch and it's every single song! We are starting to do a countdown to see how long it takes to get the "wave" going with each singer. And if you don't want the singers singing to the audience and being "cheezy" then maybe you shouldn't let all the girls stand up there and scream and wave their arms around.

Girls have always screamed during performances but because they are now so close to the stage the screaming during the songs almost overpowers the singers voice..and with the background singers doing that already it just makes it harder to hear the singers.

I thought the song choices for the evening were very odd (what WAS that song by David A??). Overall there was only one memorable performance compliments of my man David Cook. BUt here's my take on the evening.

Ramiele: She really seemd like she was trying to run with the big dogs, and for a moment I thought she could do it. The song was bigger than her usualy fare which is good because her voice IS kinda big. But ultimately it fell short.

Jason: He is a one trick pony, and it's time to be put out to pasture. He has brought nothing new or interesting to the table sicne "HAllelujah". His facial expressions are awkward and his voice just isn't that good. It's like listening to James taylor (boring) without the actual talent. His song choice??? Fragile?? Was that number three on the album's B side or what?

Syesha: While definitely her best song by a long shot, it's still same old same old. She cannot seem to excite me. The fact that I have no idea what song that was didn't help.

Chikezie: Not sure why this song was so personal to him like he insisted, but boy oh boy did he look PISSED at Simon cause he didn't "get it". The performance was ok. But Simon was right...Chikezie is much better letting loose!

Brooke: ANybody else starts to sing, stops and then starts OVER would have gotten crushed by the judges. The tongue bath over her misstep shows who the favored girl in this horse race is. I agreed with the judges in that the song was better with just her on piano, but overall it was good.

Michael: What is everyone gushing over??? He's just not that good. I WANTED to love this so bad, but it was just meh for me. I thought the "medley" was (As Simon would say) indulgent.

Carly, WAS outsung byt the backup simger. She was screamy and almost hoarse in a few parts. I like Carly best of the girls but tonight was an OFF night for her on a song I really like.

David A: Did he sing this in his junior high musical?? That song was beyond lame. Sure he sang it great, but BLECH! Like an 80's summer camp movie montage where all the kids are banding together to build a canoe or something! No WAY he chose that song.

Kristy Lee: Apparently she can do patriotic real well. Didn't she sing Amazing Grace or the National Anthem during Hollywood week? It was a great song for her, she sang it well, and like Simon said BRILLIANT choice (tug this mid west heart strings!)

David Cook: The Shining BEacon of Hope for the night. I was beyond petrified when I heard what his choice of song was. Billie Jean...REALY??? But holy heck! While the song was almost unrecognizable as Billie Jean (ala Jacko), it was a brilliant musical feat performed like a pro. This guy is on fire and win or lose will have a mega career ahead of him.

Now let me say something...I love Michael Jackson. Billie Jean is one of my favorite songs of all time. but David Cook did a great job with that version. I would blast that in my radio. They talked about Blake last season making the song his own but he usually ruined them with a beat box or something but David Cook came in and sang the song. It was great. I am giving him a standing ovation. I am now a fan. Not coming to the alter yet but he was great

wow that's a LOT of reality tv! lol. the only reality tv i really watch is Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.

and then that was it. although i've given up on Smallville. and Heroes and Kyle are both done for the season, and Supernatural is on hiatus until the end of April and we only get 4 episodes and this whole season was just AWFUL. and Lost...i only watch because DH2B likes it. i really could care less about it.

For a minute I thought you were saying this season of Supernatural was awful... I was ready to slap some sense into you. That last episode with Lilith was great. I can't wait until April 24th when the new shows come on. I can't remember, does AI change the day for it's final show like Survivor does? If it wasn't for my DVR, I'd miss the final Survivor everytime since they have it on Sundays.

Ok, given that this is not a singing contest, but a popularity contest (it just IS, ok)....and that the long term success of these people will not be based upon how well they can sing Amazing Grace (for example ), but how popular they are (because popular = $$$$ in showbusiness).....

Who do you see as having actual star potential here? Look at them all objectively, if you can.

I see David A doing EXCEEDINGLY well with the Jonas Bro/Miley Cyrus crowd.

So while I hate to admit it, because there are others I love as well, those are the 2 that I see really raking in the bucks.
