Tonight is an hour??????????????? Oh I hate it when they do that!!!!!!!!!!!! And I bet that means no "Life on a Stick" after. Darnit, I like that show. It's so totally stupid it's funny!

I heard they are showing "Stacked" after AI tonight. That's the show with Pamela Anderson in it. (I almost did a funny typo...I spelled Anderson with 2 d's...then it would have been a double D!!!)

Just checked Yahoo's TV listings and it says 8:00 Simple Life, 8:30 Stackedd (;)) and then 9:00 American Idol for an hour.

I'm glad to see people criticizing the band because I can't stand them this year and I thought that it was just me. They just sound awful and really impact the singers sometimes.

Goodness...lackluster singers, a doped up Paula, a lousy band. It's kind of a strange year.

I thought Stacked was after...guess I heard wrong on the radio..thta't what happens when I get up too early after a late night on the computer!!

I am showing my affection for all of the MTV channels but Carrie's movements actually mimicked Pat Benetar's from the video. Even the way her top was a similiar style (with the twisted neckline down to the shirt part).

In TV Guide this week, they have 3 vocal coaches critiquing the remaining contestants (including Nikko). One coach mentions that he would get Carrie dance classes because her stance is awkward. It is an interesting article. I guess the professionals can hear 'things' we can't.
I heard that Josh Gracin will be performing during tonight's show. (I think that's who I read about.) I guess that's a time filler.

Now normally I try to disregard the Paula comments and stick up for her in my mind. She's was the first tape I ever got and was my HERO when I was growing up. We used to roller skate to Forever Your Girl and Spellbound in my basement. I admit I still rock out to her songs every so often. This being said, I finally have to cave. IS SHE ON SOMETHING!??!!? I'm being serious!!! She reminded me of my friends and I after a Friday night at the bar! I don't know about the rest of you, but all of a sudden I looooooooove everything and everyone. She sure seemed to love everyone. Did you see the one point when her eyes got all squinty and she slumped back in her chair??? Wow. Get some help Paula!

I think Scott was awful, Anthony was not as awful as usual, and Nadia will probably be the one going home. In a perfect world Scott would go home, but we all know it usually doesn't work out that way. ;) Personally, I enjoy the one hour shows. I get more Idol more often!!! (though I do end up taping it and fast forwarding Ryan's recap of the judges comments. :))

I'm so disappointed in Nadia. This girl could really be a STAR. She has it all going on for her and yet she continues to pick songs that just don't showcase her talents. I truly fear that she could be the one to go this week and that shouldn't be the case.

Surprisingly, I thought Anthony was excellent last night. And when Paula was going on and on about Scott having the guts to sing She's Gone with Hall and Oates in the audience, I just kept thinking, Every Time You Go Away is a Hall and Oates song too and Anthony really nailed it but no comment to that effect from the judges (or from H&O for that matter.)

Scott was bad. I tried closing my eyes and just listening to him sing without looking at him but it didn't help. I hope he'll be the one who goes this week. Mouthing off to Simon didn't help matters either.

I liked Bo. It's between him and Carrie for me. I hope one of them emerges as the winner. I've been expecting Carrie to do a Pat Benatar song, just as I expected a Martina McBride song, but this performance was just OK.

I thought Vonzell did well tonight. At least she looks as if she's enjoying herself on stage which is an important part of the package.

Anwar, sorry it's almost time to go home.

Lastly, I'm sorry but I just don't get all the love for Constantine. I honestly think he's very average. Not bad, just not great. And (I'll start ducking right now ;) ) when I look at his face, I see Danny Bonaduce as a kid on the Partridge Family! Seriously, put red hair on Constantine and it's Danny circa 1971. I don't get why millions find him so attractive. But, as my mom would say, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream :)

I think the reason they didn't say anything is he was doing the Paul Young Version from *Gasp Im old* 1985 the year he was born...just a thought but im surprised they didn't comment on it still.

I really liked Vonzell's peformance last night! She did so well!

Anwar- What did he sing? "Someone Left the Cake out in The Rain" or something like that? That song was so boring! :cool1:

Bo- He's a classic! I loved that performance!

Nadia- She screwed up!

Carrie- She doesn't do Pat Benatar too well! It seemed forced!

Scott- good song, despite his domestic violence episode.

Constantine- He sang well, but he just doesn't do it for me.

Anthony- He's boring!

They did comment on it before he sang..but not after and he did such a nice job with it too! It's always been a favorite of mine and I saw Paul Young sing it in concert when he was an opening act for Genesis.

:rotfl: ITA!!! But hey, to each their own. He definately has a loyal fan base!

My hubby keeps saying she's got to have a problem of some kind. She's just so out there lately.

WOW! I couldn't disagree more! But then again I'm a die-hard Sox fan so I guess it figures! :wave2:
GO SOX!!

Funny you should compare him to Danny Bonaduce because as a child, while everyone else loved David Cassidy I was the odd one who had a crush on Danny Bonaduce!!! To funny!!!!!

I think the band sounds great this year. I love the string section. The one thing I will comment on is that the backup singers sometimes are too loud. I noticed this last night in Anthony's song espectially.

Oh, well. To each his own.

I have noticed that alot with Carrie's songs, sometimes you can't even hear her over the back-up singers.

I actually like Nadia this week! I'm apparently definitely in the minority though!

I think Carrie was pretty brave to go so far out of her box with her selection. She tried to move a bit and though it was awkward, uncomfortable and she screamed it, I think her performance next week will be awesome because she's trying to grow. She's competing to win and I like her more for her screwed up performance tonight!

I think Vonzell should get votes just for strutting around and up and down the steps in those heels and tight skirt! She's cute, sweet and has a good voice but for some reason, she doesn't seem like a "star" to me. Nothing special that really stands out.

I think Scott also included in his remarks... I'm up here doing what millions of people didn't have the guts to do... and that's why I rock! I used to like him but I've had enough.

My favorites tonight - Constantine, Carrie
Bottom 3 - Scott, Anwar, Nadia
Hope goes home - Scott

I also like Carrie last night. I think she did a good job with that song and I noticed that she moved a little more last night instead of just standing there and signing, she didn't look stiff last night.

Does anybody read everyone's reviews or are we all doing this just to vent?
Edited to add: I actually do read almost every post on this thread and do enjoy the reviews, even if I don't agree with them!

:flower: I feel the need to include my person-by-person review weekly either way, so here goes...

Nadia- A Crystal Gayle song?!!! :sad2: I was in high school in 1977 and know for a fact that there were FAR BETTER songs she could have chosen, LOL. I think she did fine with it, but, as Simon would say, it was "forgettable."

Bo- An excellent song choice for him, but just a "good" job! Bo is one of my favorites, admittedly, and I thought this could have been a break-out performance for him. It was good, but not as good as it could have been. However, Simon was obviously quite confused, bouncing between Bo needing to sing a song where the audience wouldn't say "What the &*#$ was that?" and calling the song "sacred."

Anwar- I like Anwar and he did a better job than he has sometimes in the past, but I don't think it was as good as Randy and Paula did. OK. Not bad. Might be "forgettable" like Nadia. :( (But I hope not.)

Anthony- I love that song (one of my favorites from the 80's) and was afraid that he was going to butcher it. Thankfully he didn't. Impressive that Simon was nice to him. The drawback is that this probably means he'll stick around longer and someone who doesn't deserve to go will.

Vonzell- I'll say it again, she just doesn't "do it" for me. She's cute. She's bouncy. She can sing and has the personality. For some reason, I just don't feel it though. :duck:

icon13.gif
Scott- YUCK! Another one of my all-time favorite songs and he killed it. The low notes were horrible (as Randy and Simon said). Poor Hall and Oates to have to sit there and act happy about it. The stupid editorial comment just sealed the deal. IF there is ANY justice at all, this will be Scott's final performance. :crazy2:

Carrie- Why? Why Pat Benatar? Why pretend to be the rough rocker? Why couldn't you remember the words to a two-minute song? I really did not enjoy this performance. It's been mentioned before, but, what in the world was that "dance" she was doing? It's like she planted her feet apart and swayed back and forth. (It makes me angry that she seems to have it all sewn up anyway -- and I'm sure she won't be going anywhere, even if she deserves to.)

icon14.gif
Constantine- Constantine - you've been my favorite all season and this week you proved again that you deserve it! (I am not a teenybopper - before you guys start in - I am 43 years old.) I was thinking that this was a pretty risky thing - doing a Freddy Mercury tune -- and was pretty worried about it. But, like in the past, he made it his own, didn't mimic the original, put a fresh spin on it, and knocked it out of the park! Yay! :thewave:

Should be in the bottom 3 (Will there be 3 or are we down to 2 now?): Nadia, Scott and Carrie
Should go tonight: Scott
Got my votes: Constantine (a lot), Bo (some) and Anwar (a couple)
