I just read about Mario on TVGuide.com:

IDOL SHOCKER: Someone better slip Paula Abdul a Xanax: American Idol frontrunner Mario Vazquez has abruptly dropped out of the competition. In an exclusive interview with TVGuide.com Sunday night, Vazquez said he quit to "take care of some personal issues with my family in New York. And with Idol being a live show, it just wouldn't have worked out schedule-wise." The 27-year-old added that his withdrawal had nothing to do with Idol or Fox. "I'm healthy, I'm fine," he said. "It's just a personal family thing. My family is my top priority." Vazquez's coveted top 12 slot will be filled by Nikko Smith, who returns after being eliminated on last Wednesday's show.

I am disappointed that Mario is gone, but I am glad that Nikko is back

I wanted both Nikko and Scott to make it last week, so I was so bummed when it was between the two of them.

Well thats interesting since our local Fox 5 NY station went to Marios Mom this morning and she told them she knew nothing about it and was hearing it from the reporter for the first time......

The show on Tuesday must be longer though, yes? I see on the Fox site it starts at 8 EST but it doesn't say how long it runs.

Yes, in some other forums, there was some nasty uncorfirmed and hopefully untrue rumor that Bo was thinking of quitting as well.

As I understand the rumor, Bo had family and friends fly out to LA to read the "new" contract the finalists need to sign. Apparently 19 entertainment would take a 40% cut, instead of the usual 10-15%. Bo, being an older adult, thought this cut was way too high.

This info was on the forums on the idolonfox website.

I hope this is unfounded but it does give you pause.

Wow I just heard the news about Mario. He was pretty good. Glad Nikko is back. I felt he should've been in the top 12 anyway.

Just heard about him leaving the show today. Good Morning America did a spot on him. They didn't interview him, just showed different clips. All that I got out of it was that he said that he quit for personal reasons, there was no in-fighting among contestants, he wished it was that easy. There is some speculation that he might tour with the group this summer. Are they really replacing him with Nikko or is that speculation also?

Regis and Kelly had Mario on the show this morning. They interviewed him.

Basically he said that it was "personal reasons" and he stuck to that. Explained that it had nothing to do with the show. Kelly kept asking him about is contract with AI..if he was allowed to venture out. Mario said he couldn't speak about that right now but the only thing he could say was....This is not the last of Mario Vazques...

I have a feeling he must of got a deal and will be putting something out.

Now why couldn't Mikayla have personal family reasons to leave? I am sorry to see Mario go, and hope that the rumors about Bo are unfounded. They have the best bunch of guys on this show that they have ever had, and to loose them due to contract problems would ruin it. Of course, I want Anwar to win, anyway!

Hi, everybody! Watching AI as I type this. Jessica did a pretty good job on her song, "Shop Around", but Anwar was a little disappointing to me (I'm not sure of the name of his song-- I don't think I've ever heard it before).
