I like Amanda, Nadia and Jessica the best. But they just aren't cutting compared to some of the guys IMO. Hopefully Janay and Lindsey will be gone next.

I've been watching but I've just been wishing it was over already. They are boring and their voices are blah.

Well, I put in the wrong channel on my VCR, so I didn't tape AI tonight. Could some one please list the girls in order of their apperance on the show tonight. It would be a great help.

Thanks

Mikalah--For the love of God, after a nice week of not listening to her talk last week, why did they have to interview her?! She is so annoying! Please make her leave!!! Oh, yeah, and I hate her singing voice too!

I love Mikalah! She's my favorite, but then again I love Barbara Streisand, so maybe thats why. She reminds me of a younger version of her. I think she is beautiful and very talented for a 17 year old.

1. Amanda
2. Janay
3. Carrie
4. Vonzell
5. Nadia
6. Lindsey
7. Mikalah
8. Jessica

I hope that helps. I rewound the tape so I know it's right.

Did anyone get any busy signals when voting tonight? I just voted a few times for Carrie because it makes me nervous when Simon (or any of the judges) proclaim them as a sure thing to advance in the competition. No busy signals for her at all.

I couldn't get a hold of Nadias line for a good 35-45 minutes. It was hard getting through to Vonzell for about 20 minutes as well.

Lindsey and Jessica well, there lines were never busy. (My daughter asked me to vote for them for her)

Last night I tried intermittently for two hours to get to Anwar... and it was busy the whole time.

Amanda--she wasn't great but she will get the male vote - at least she did in my house

Janay--PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE quit voting for her!!

Carrie--I thought she was the best one vocally but she does need a little more flare

Vonzell--she can sing but I was so distracted by her outfit - I don't care that her dad gave it to her - I didn't know that while she was performing and I was trying to figure out how it fit with her song

Nadia--She is a good performer and singer - but my DH and I think she does the same thing each week and are bored with her - I would love to hear her sing a more low key song and REALLY show off her vocals - I am not a Tina Turner fan but I can see where Nadia would be popular with the same fan base

Lindsay--I want to like her but Simon hit the nail on the head - she is missing something

Mikalah--she is 16 and needs to act like she is - the first week the judges told her to tone it down but this is ridiculous - but I didn't like her before either!

Jessica--her whole performance was just wierd - it was hard to concentrate on what she was singing

the girls definately did not bring it tonight - I hope they can step it up with the guys!!

I missed the show except for the recap and based solely on the 5 seconds I saw of each singer....Nadia rocked! And Janay sounded the worst. Janay should hook up for a duet with Travis...they both have shaky pitchy out-of-tune voices.

Amanda -- not my favorite performance, however she was on pitch and has a nice voice, and she has the look. I am not ready for her to leave yet

Christy -- she didn't show me much tonight. I know that she can do better. I believe that she is going to end up like Josh Gracin when she gets into the top 12... everything she sings is going to come out sounding country. She as much as said it herself tonight.

Janay -- she was trying too hard to be mature tonight. She wasn't on pitch throughout most of her song, but she did look much better. She still looks like she is scared to death. At least she was smart enough not to tell Simon off this time, though. Time for her to go.

Lindsey -- really stepped up to the plate tonight. She sounded great on her song. She may have a chance of making it into the top 12 after after all.

Vondel -- my girl can really get it on! She was fantastic belting out that Otis Redding tune. She really surprised me, and if she doesn't make it into the top 12, I don't know why.

Jessica --WOW! What can I say... that girl puts Kelly Clarkson to shame! She can really put on a show and could be right up there with the guys! She ROCKS!!!!

Nadia -- When she started singing, I looked at my husband and said... man, she is a young Tina Turner. And then that is exactly what Simon said. She ROCKS!

Mikayla --- oh, listening to her was QUITE painful, and I love "Somewhere", so when the intro started I expected good things-- yes, I am TRYING to give Mikayla the benefit of the doubt! Boy, was I disappointed! She wasn't on key most of the time, the song was way too low for her. It was also too old for her. Channeling Barbra Striesand is really not a good move for her-- she doesn't have the voice to sing those songs. Unless she has legions of fans backing her up, this should be the last time we have to listen to her... which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Janay definitely should go...the second choice is more difficult, but I would vote for Mikayla or Vonzell. I voted for Jessica, Carrie, Amanda and Nadia. But Nadia seems a little cocky or something to me. I prefer the purity of Carrie, and something about Jessica moves me, don't know how to put it, but I just love her :flower:

Oh, and Bo...he is my absolute favorite of all! Love some of the other guys, too, but Bo I want to go all the way! :cool1:

I wouldn't vote for any of the woman. I was sooooooo bored. I even went on the net before it was over just to stay awake.

I agree that the first half of Moon River was not his best moment. But Anwar is a great singer - he's got tone & pitch. He's technically the superior singer. I think he's the total package: charisma, hip image with the dreads, nice teeth (hey it's important to me! :teeth: ), good role model, and a smooth singer.

I totally agree. And having musical theater experience for almost 20 years, I think that I can make a judgement from experience. I think that, unfortunately, a lot of white America sees the dreadlocks and develops a certain dislike for the person, which hinders the ability to judge objectively. IF he had a different hairstyle, he would be much better received by mainstream America. You can disagree all you want, but I see it allllll the time.
Take your Bo. I'll take Anwar.

Personally the braids/extensions don't bother me at all. Yes, the hair was tied back, so I can't tell what really going on with his hair now. Dreads are different, but thats a whole other discussion.

I found a Anwar Bio somewhere. He sings a lot of patriotic songs and hymns. His choir in college (Rider a NJ school) did something with that. So expect to see hymns and patriotic songs. He can kill two birds with one stone and sing God Bless America! (he can sing the phone book to me.. I don't care!)

And, he is a middle school teacher. Any middle school teacher can tell you its a very tough age group. I am just about burnt out of middle schoolers. And to teach chorus to that group, is amazing in and of itself. I am surrounded by 6th graders all day long and it isn't easy.

I am sorry, but I find this whole statement pretty offensive. If I don't like someone's singing, it has NOTHING to do with the skin color or the hairstyle. I personally don't like Anwar's voice and if I had never seen him and had only heard his voice on the radio I still wouldn't like him. My favorite is Scott and I guess you could say that people have been judging him based on the way he looks too. They judge his looks far more than they do Anwar from what I have read on this thread. Nobody seems to think anything bad about Anwar other than the few of us who don't like his voice. But tons of people have said they wouldn't vote for Scott b/c he reminds them of a serial killer. And most of those same people that have said that about Scott are white just like him. And just for the record if I did go by looks I would never have voted for Clay, but man that boy can sing and won me over and my vote. So I think your theory is flawed at best.

Thanks for stating what I was thinking. I was trying to determine whether I should be offended by the statement or not. How would the fact that Anwar has dreadlocks make any difference as to whether I like his voice or not? Anwar has, in my opinion, screwed up some classic songs. That's the reason I don't like him at this point. On voice alone, he probably is one of the best of the guys, but I have not seen him sing anything that I like so far (In actuality, he's sung things that I like - What a Wonderful World, for example - but I think he's done lousy with them). Nevertheless, at this point, I've gotta hope for a final two between Bo and Nadia.

Opinions are like... well, you know what... EVERYBODY has one! :p

Why a person feels good or bad about someone can or cannot be affected by their experiences, biases or upbringing... or not! No one can paint a broad picture on why someone likes something, it's a personal thing.

I, on the other hand, ADMIT wholeheartedly that I'm biased by appearance, and KNOW that if I was watching AI withOUT visuals, my votes would differ extraordinarily.

Saying that: here's my take of last night, my OPNION:

My son had one word for Mikayla's performance: MUTE.

Vonzell's outfit turned me so OFF it biased my thinking... admission of visual bias!

Don't care for Carrie, another admission of visual bias. HATED her mermaid outfit.

Jessica is good but visually she gives me the heebies also.

Amanda is just okay vocally, and stunning visually. It won't get her far.

Janay, well, Georgia will have another resident tomorrow night....

LOVED Nadia! She has such stage presence and she DID Otis's song justice. I felt like a fossil when she said she had never heard it before... :confused3

Lindsay is adorable but very forgettable.

Who will leave? Janay and some poor girl, Travis and some poor guy.

I didn't get one busy signal when I called tonight! I call around 10:15 or so each time for voting and don't have much trouble getting through...I HOPE Janay and Mikayla didn't have any busy signals, they haveto GO GO GO!! Who are the people voting for them??????
