Mikhala (I'm sure I spelled it wrong) really surprised me tonight. There was no grating on my nerves!

She needed that change--good for her!!!

I actually thought Janay did well and the judges hated it...did I miss something or am I tone deaf or something?

Well, she didn't look like a drag queen this time ....very natural and very comfortable up there without the attitude.

I agree. I didn't think Mikayla was all that. Her voice still irritates me. I think Nadia is a better singer than Mikayla.

Just to clarify -- I wasn't crazy about Mikayla's performance but I WAS surprised with it!

Carrie sounded pretty good -- not fantastic, but good. Again, I think the live performance versus at home on television is very different. Maybe that's part of why I've been surprised by many of their comments.

I think that's gotta be it. I really liked Carrie's Janis Joplin riff. She "country-fied" it a little and I thought it sounded great. I was waiting for the judges to say how good she did and then they just bashed her. Maybe I need to put in some votes for Carrie tonight.

And Amanda - looking good this week once again.

It is a Janis Joplin original but Faith Hill had done a country version of it when she first came out.

Carrie is my favorite, but I thought Jessica did well tonight. I'm surprised that no one likes Mikayla. She does tend to go overboard a little, but I think she's spunky and exudes alot of confidence for a girl her age. I hope Janay is next to leave. I don't like her voice. I think she's too shaky.

I like Mikayla.. I think she's really trying to calm down. She doesn't talk as much now and you noticed how Simon pointed that out. Maybe someone had a talk with her and told her she was going to get on everyone's nerves.

Janis was the original artist, and the girl who did it tonight was an EXTREMELY POOR imitation of Faith Hill, who did a poor version to begin with. BTW, I like Faith Hill, but Janis Joplin ABSOLUTELY OWNED that song.

I'm surprised that no one likes Mikayla. She does tend to go overboard a little, but I think she's spunky and exudes alot of confidence for a girl her age.

I like Mikayla too, and for the same reasons.

On the whole, the girls aren't impressing me this year. If I had to pick one from tonight, I'd have to go with Amanda. I think Celena and Janay need to go home....maybe Aloha too. Although if they had Best Stomach Idol, Celena would be a contender!

Nadia is the only female so far that I think seems to show a glimmer of potential star quality. It's her style and how it comes across that impresses me more than her voice. Her age (28) seems to be an advantage. I haven't made up my mind about Jessica yet. Carrie is boring to me, and I'm even originally from Oklahoma. Some of the women are kind of countryish, including her, and I like VERY little country music. I don't really like the Fort Worth girl, either - Celena. She is kind of blah to me, also.

To me the guys are overall just a much more interesting and diversified group than the women .

I think that at 34, I am old. Am I the only one who doesn't recognize a lot of these songs they are singing? Unlike the judges, I was relieved to hear Nadia do a Paul McCartney song - maybe because I recognized it. And who sang Broken Wings? The song from the '80s by Mr. Mister? I missed Aloha's performance, so maybe it was her .

Edited to add: Even though she gets on my nerves sometimes, I think Mikalah is just young. I think she has potential as an entertaining personality, too.

Mr. Mister (I think) did sing a song named "Broken Wings" but this was a different song - country, I think.

Okay, thanks, RyMickey. I guess that must be one of the songs that I didn't recognize. I must not have been paying attention to the words when whoever sang it sang it .

My thoughts-

Aloha- Didn't like her last week, still don't like her.
Lindsay- I thought she did well.
Jessica- Very good.
Mikaylah- I thought it was good.
Celena- Not good, I agree with Simon she just doesn't have it.
Nadia- I really hate that song, really hate it but I like her.
Amanda- The backround music was too loud, much better then last week.
Janay- She just looks sooo young and scared stiff.
Carrie- I really like her but that song was just not her, bad choice. Especially after just seeing Melissa Etheridge deliver that amazing performance as a tribute to Janis at the Grammeys. Carrie paled in comparison, it wasn't good.
Vonzel- I liked her performance.

Wow, the girls let me down tonight! As a whole, the guys did SO much better last night.
