Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Running the mileage listed for a half would leave me over trained. I've done that and it doesn't work for me. What works for me is three running days a week; two shorter runs and one long run.

Great to hear this! This is my first half and I've been doing this as well, two shorter runs and one long. Did my longest ever yesterday, 10 miles, and felt pretty good. 10:40 pace, which is a good bit slower than my 10K pace, but I'm still happy with it. Think I'll do 3-3-5 this week, then 3-3-11, then maybe just short runs until the race.

Still can't believe I'm doing this :faint:

Sounds like your training is going very well! You got this! :thumbsup2

I believe it was DVCFan who said that they left at 3:30 on the monorail and it was too rushed. [\QUOTE]

Yes, 3:30 leaving BLT (probably 3:45 pulling away in the monorail) felt too late for the half. There's the train change at TTC, then a decent little walk to the prerace area once you get off the monorail. I had a bag to check, and of course a potty stop. With the earlier march to the half corrals maybe rushed is too strong a word, but there wasn't much time to enjoy the prerace area before I started to corrals. I went the first time they made an announcement because it was my first Half and I'd heard it was a hike. I was very injured last year, so I wanted to walk slow and then stretch.

In my opinion 3:30 would have been perfect before the 10k, because those corrals are right there.

So glad to have this board! I love reading everyone else's comments and seeing that I'm not the only one so excited!

I am anxiously awaiting corral placements. I didn't submit a time, so assume I am in the last corral but am silently hoping that somehow I end up a couple corrals ahead.

I have a couple questions. First, I registered and am running for the Children's Hospital charity. When I search my email on runDisney's website for the confirmation, I don't get a confirmation. Is this because I'm registered with a charity? I have my confirmation printed off but am still a little nervous and would like to be able to check direct with runDisney. Am I over-thinking this??

Also, we (DH, DD (7), DS (5) & DS (5)) are staying at the Art of Animation resort. Will the food court be open for any kind of breakfast? Or does anyone know what they have for breakfast options? I often eat a yogurt parfait before my long runs and would like to continue with this. Can I buy one the day before and put it in my fridge?

Thanks for the input everyone!!

I ran the Tower of Terror doing 1:1 intervals and finished averaging 12:20/mile.

Slacked from mid-Nov until New Years. Weather here in NJ has been terribly cold. I can't figure out how to set intervals on my treadmill, so I have been power walking at 14 min/mile pace 4-6 miles 6 days a week. I have been doing a longer workout 7 and 8 mile each weekend.

I got called into work at 2am Monday morning, fell on the ice and injured my back  Had to take 5 days off from training. My kids have been sick with the flu all week! I have been taking Tamiflu to help avoid getting sick and Valium for my back. What a week!!

I managed to power walk 9 miles today. Did online check in yesterday. Magic bands are on the way. 4 weeks left...seems so close yet so far. 4 weeks is not much time left to train but somehow going to Disney seems so far away.

Hope everyone has a good weekend! Off to shovel the 6 inches of snow that got dumped on us last night :faint:

Yesterday I ran 10.5 miles, something I never imagined I'd be able to do, and I'm finally feeling like I might actually be able to finish this race and enjoy it!

I've heard a few people say that the buses back to the resorts after the race are a nightmare, and I was wondering if this is true? And if it is, does anyone have any tips for getting back to a resort not on the monorail without waiting too long for a bus?

DD got notice that one set of Magic Bands have shipped. Made FP+ reservations for BOG lunch at 2:15 am this morning. For those who have done this race recently, what types of activities are available pre-race? I know there is probably a DJ and some back drops. Three hairstyles will probably be done while waiting. #girls #longhair

Hello all. It seems everyone's training is going well. It's so close!

As for me, I have a bit of a problem. Outside of being undertrained, I am now having to change my travels arrangements. Looking for some advice.

First, some background. I transferred jobs from TN to NC this past summer. For Princess, I booked a one-way flight to FL on Thursday the 19th. My mom and best friend are driving from TN. I was able to schedule a work function in TN for the following week so I was able to ride back with the drivers and put the return flight on work's tab. Ya know, save some money. Work was fine with it too, saved them money on the flight down and such. Well now things have changed. The company is rescheduling the function in TN and as things currently stand, I have no way back to NC.

I see the following options:

1) Book a return flight. The cheapest I have found is $213.00 and I could use DME for the return. This is preferable however, mighty expensive for one-way. I could book a round trip for $295 through US Airways. Does anyone know if Delta gives out vouchers in lieu of refunds?
2) I could drive. I don't wanna take my personal car as it is new and I don't wanna put that many miles on it right away. I looked at Enterprise and it is $285.00 just for the drive down. Crazy expensive. Anyone know of any cheaper places or rates?

TIA!

I hope you get pixiedust: for a corral. Buying a yogurt and putting it in the fridge works.:thumbsup2

Unless you bought a fully refundable ticket with delta you are pretty much out of luck. They will give you "credit" for the value of the ticket that is good for 12 months from the day you bought the ticket, not the day call to cancel the flight. To actually use that credit, you'll have to pay a $150 change fee. So, unless you paid more than $150 for the ticket it's pretty much a loss.

Have you tried the discount air carriers? Jet blue, spirit, frontier, southwest. Some of them do not pull up in typical travel websites - you can only book directly through them (though I have lately seen jet blue and frontier popping up). They are usually much more reasonable with their one way fares if you can get them in your city or a nearby one!

I would definitely fly if I were you, but I just wouldn't want to be in a car sitting for that long after a race is why. Plus, one way cars are more expensive since you have to leave them at a different location at the end.

Not sure of your location, but you could try Alligient Air. They fly into Concord NC and Greensboro and I think Greenville NC. You would need to get to Sanford, FL airport..perhaps your mom???

I stayed at AKL last year during WDW marathon weekend. (Same starting times as Princess). I always head To the bus between 3:45-4 and Have enough time to get a coffee, drop my bag at bag check, hit a potty, and walk around for a bit. If you want pics before heading to corrals you will want to leave earlier because those lines build up and they cut them off before they call for everyone to walk to corrals. Have fun!!!
I do want pics as this is my first and DH is deployed so I need to have some great pics to send to him.

This. You can book a one way on Southwest, no problem and it will probably be cheaper that whatever other options you have.

I had a good run this morning. It was 34 when I left the house this morning. Quite cold for Florida. I am not sure those that live up north run outside. My lungs hurt in the cold are. I did 10.5 miles today at a 14 minute pace. I walked most of it though. I think that is good for three weeks to go. I hope to repeat next weekend with short runs during the week. this is a goal I promised myself after my weight loss surgery 6 years ago. I will be able to cross this one off the list, but I really do enjoy running/walking.

:goodvibes:yay:

Burr…hope it warms up a bit for our weekend. This run/walk thing can become a habit…a good habit.:thumbsup2

7 miles this morning, a good run to make up for how bad last week was. Not where I wanted to be at this point, but I will take it. Just going to do what I can do on race day!
