Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

I did two miles of walking today in preparation for the GSC. Tomorrow, I will run. Next week the plan is for all six of us to get together to do the long run for the week. The plan is a 4:1 ratio for two hours. I'm tweeting my daily workouts regularly. I think tomorrow is FP+ day.

Thank you!! I knew that start and finish were both Epcot parking lots, I wasn't sure if it's the same lot - I think that will make it easier for me to not get lost (I'm a little bit navigationally-impaired). I'm sure there will be plenty of signs once I get there, but it's nice to have the information in advance. Thanks!

Happy to help! Nope, no chance of getting lost... the scene is all dark, quiet parking lots, and then this brightly-lit, music thumping area of high activity. Just go toward the light and you'll find yourself in race central, lol! :thumbsup2

I actually laughed out loud at that ... thanks for putting a smile on my face

I am irrationally excited today - I FINALLY got a coupon from Frontier that covers these dates (fyi - 13% off flights today only with code SNOWFLAKE!) so I booked our return trip on the 23rd. We leave for MCO on the 14th and that flight price started soaring (how many of you are playing the soarin' theme song in your head right now), so I had that flight segment booked months ago.

Then in my excitement, I did online check-in, booked DME, rechecked all the FP+ I'd booked a few days ago. We got everything we wanted, including A&E, SDMT, Wishes. And I did just change a time and can tell you SDMT has a ton of slots for the race weekend and the couple of days leading up to it still!

AND I bought a new outfit for the half (all pink, it IS a princess race, after all) and it arrived in the mail this morning! My $50 Victoria's secret rewards card really helped that one! I am getting measurements from my cousin over Christmas and we are ordering our tutus for the 5k via etsy, with a Jasmine and Belle theme. I am also letting her pick a resto for President's day since I am not really feeling the menu changes at the Brown Derby - it is between Marrakesh, Coral Reef and Flying Fish...

BTW, am I the only one second guessing their dinner ADR for the night before the half? I have Tutto Italia booked, which I ate right before the TOT 10 miler and it worked but wasn't terribly exciting. But now I am seeing that Il Mulino has rave reviews and going back and forth with changing it! Anyone have an opinion here one way or the other?

Other than that, the only things I have left to do are pack and show up at the airport! Oh...and run :rotfl2:

Here's a link to the 2014 PHM Event Guide, the start/finish line area map is on page 20: http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/rundisney/pdf/princess/2014/Princess14_ProgramWeb.pdf

And here's a pic from the 2012 start/finish line area, to compare. Not much changed, as you can see.

The buses from your resort drop you off right at the pre-race area, which will be super busy and lit up like a party, like this:

url

There will be the tents for you to do bag check, music playing, lots of people, and port-o-johns. Once they open up the fences to make the trek to the corrals, the lines at the port-o-johns are about 40-50 people deep (no joke).

After you make your way to the corral area (page 19 of the above event guide), you'll see large lit up balls with your corral letter on them, like this (big pic, sorry):

url

That pic ^^ is for Corral B, as you can see in the lower right hand photo. There will be volunteers checking bibs at the opening of each corral, to make sure you're in the right place. They'll ask everyone to fill up all available space once you get closer to racetime, so be prepared to get crammed in like sardines.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! I've actually been looking over the marathon event guide that came out last week for info ... but last year's Princess one is probably a better source of information, so thank you so much for the link and pictures!

Awesome, you are totally ready!

I get to book our FP+s tomorrow, and you just reminded me I need to call and book DME too. I can't seem to find a place to do it online?

Happy Christmas! Today all six of us ran together for two hours. The run went well. We did a 4:1 ratio. Only three more long runs, if you are using Jeff Galloway/runDisney plans.

Merry Christmas to you too! And nice work on your run :)

My sister and I ran two laps around a lake here yesterday, so it was 20.2km! I was so proud of myself! :cool1: Now I know I can do it. It took us 2:37 which is fine to me, and that's with a fair number of walking Gu breaks etc. I felt pretty great nearly the whole way, around 17/18 things started stiffening up a bit, but after a quick stretch my legs wanted to keep running.

Afterwards I came home and laid on the floor then crawled to the shower :rotfl2: Mostly just my feet and knees were sore. I ate some leftover ham and pineapple for some protein. Then off to my parents for Christmas dinner where I helped quite a bit and stayed on my feet for awhile and started feeling fine, and even better after dinner and a glass of wine :thumbsup2

Today just a lingering hunger and a wee bit of knee pain/stiffness, but not enough to hold me back too much! Seeing as how I'd only run up to about 12kms before this, I'm happy to knock out a super long run.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and are enjoying the extra days off for running ;)

I've got a 10K race coming up next week, I'm feeling pretty confident about that but not necessarily on getting from 10K to 13.1 miles in a bit under two months. Yikes! How can the trip to Disney seem so far away but the race seem so close??

I am definitely with you there! If this were just a vacation, it would seem so far away!

I can't figure out how to search on my phone, so I apologize if this has already been asked- but is there a group meet up for single walkers/runners for the 5K? I'll be there with my family but will be the only one doing a race and I've just started to become anxious about doing it by myself. TYIA!

I have been reading back through these posts (getting so excited!) and found one that linked to last year's Race program. I notice in there that it looks like the kid's 1 mile race runs through Epcot. Can anyone tell me if that's right? If so, are there character meets during the one mile? Thanks!

Yes they do run through Epcot. I believe there is normally a character at the finish line.

Thanks for the info! I didn't realize this, had thought the mike was thru parking lot. Does anyone know if there's anyway I can switch my daughter from dash to mile? Thx!

DD and I have come down with something, tight chest, cough and fever. Slight alterations to my bedtime last week was probably the culprit. Today will be my third day without any exercise. I usually do something six days a week. A short run was planned for today, hopefully I can get back on track tomorrow.
