Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

I just tried starting a facebook group and couldn't do it because I needed to invite people.

Does anyone want to be my facebook friend so I can get a group started, or maybe someone who is friends with other posters here wants to get one going? Being new here, I haven't connected with anyone off-DIS yet.

Okay, be gentle with me here cause, as I said, I am a very beginner beginner. ;) But I just did my longest walk and with my best time. 1.72 miles at a 14:32 pace. I even ran in two (very) short spurts, but I can tell I'm getting a little stronger! :cool1:

I also wanted to share a few pics I dug up in case anyone else is interested in crowd size.

This is from the start line of the WDW Marathon in 2012 before the first gun went off, so I'm not sure how relevant it will be to Princess, but might give a good idea of what the experience will be. I forget which corral I was in, but I ran about an 11 min mile.

Finally starting!

And going toward Epcot.

I found some pics on friends' facebook pages (hope they don't mind) to get an idea of crowd for Princess. These are from 2014.

Is anyone planning on writing about their training progress on a blog? I am..check out (and instagram.com/eatplaywod). This is my first half and I'm most definitely not a "runner" :lmao:

I am too! Check it out at "theforeverlearner(.)org"

Sorry - won't let me post a link yet since I haven't posted at least 10 times! :lmao:

I think you're doing great. :) when I started training for last years PHM, I kept a training journal. I just peeked at it, and I started at 17:30 minute miles walking most of it! Haha! :) by the time I went to the Princess my best time was 12:50/mile and I was able to run a 5k without walking. It's definitely a journey! Keep going! You will be amazed at yourself by February 22nd.

I spent half of last night watching youtube videos of the PHM. You can go there and search Disney Princess Half Marathon and find several great videos to watch. You can see the crowds, fireworks, characters, water stations, etc. Lots of great info and very inspiring. :cheer2:

I watched Wine & Dine ones too. That's my next goal!

That is a Great idea!!! I'm definitely going to do that. :) I have all of them in my Ismoothrun, but I'm going to transfer them to a journal so I can see them better. I keep meaning to start a pre-trip report to record my journey, but I just haven't done it yet.

Good job!:cheer2:

Thank you. :)

I agree, it is a journey.

I've been following along for some time now and thought I would finally join in! :wave2: I ran PHM Half this year with my DH but am super excited to be doing GSC 2015!! Bringing a couple of girlfriends to run the half and my DM is joining in on the 10K-it will be her first 10K! She will be 64 and is very excited. She's already training! :yay: DH and I have already started training for Dopey 2015 so I'm hoping I'll have some steam left for GSC. These RunDisney races are just too darn addicting!

Several people were mentioning the Visa discount in the past. I contacted RunDisney and this is the response I received:

"Thank you for your inquiry. Disney Visa Cardholders are not eligible for
a discount on runDisney events during the Disney Princess Half Marathon
Weekend presented by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals; these
benefits are determined and offered on an event by event basis. We
apologize for any disappointment this may cause. Please refer to the
Disney VISA Cardholder website for further information on available
perks.

Thank you,
runDisney"

Booo...no discount :rotfl2:. I guess they figure they will get our money regardless of a discount or not, oh well.

Excited to be following along!

I'll be running the 10k for the first time. Time to find some princess gear....

Thanks so much for sharing this! I'm a beginning runner & just registered for the PHM (my first). It's encouraging to hear your success story.

I blog at http://noguiltlife.com and cover all things rundisney! Would love to have y'all stop by. There's a princess pack giveaway going on too!

Also there's a few fb pages already for phm. Google them and you'll see. Phm and gsc specific. Hth!

That is amazing! You're off to a great start, and that is an excellent pace! runDisney recommends you train at 15min/mile, so you're already ahead!
