Official all things Princess Half Weekend 2015 thread! DOoneY and offical mErcH on DisneyParksBLOg

Excited for my first Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Running the 5k and 10k. Has anyone here done the Breakfast afterwards? Wondering if its worth it.

I want to share with all the newbies and old friends, alike. I ran my first PHM in 2013 at the age of 51. I had come back from marathon weekend the month after doing the 5K so excited. Then I was dumped by my SO. These boards helped me get through that awful time. Since then, I have developed friendships and have gotten such support from a bunch of "virtual friends" that really had a profound impact upon me. So, if you're running solo, please know you are never alone. I have met some of my best friends, yes, in person, via these boards. Rock on, everyone!!

Well said Sunnygal! You go girl !

And how bout those San Antonio Spurs !!woohoo!!

They seriously are trying to hurt me. Lol. Anyone win a lottery & share with me?

Oh wow...I want to do this...buying a lotto ticket tomorrow :)

It says that you can only pick up your race bib, etc. at the Expo the three days before the race. So would people who ran this race before not recommend getting in the day before the race? Would that be cutting it close?

I saw that yesterday and my first thought was "I really need to win the lottery!" Castaway cay 5k was my first 5k. It would be awesome to do it again post GSC!

That would be so much fun!! But I'm already pushing my luck with the PHM. Maybe 2016 if y'all do it again.

So glad I found this thread! My sisters and I are planning a girls weekend and running!

Can anyone speak to the idea of staying at Bonnet Creek Wyndham for the race? I have stayed there before and loved all the space, didn't mind renting the car for to and fro, and it ended up being cheaper than staying on property. HOWEVER, I have no idea how much of a hassle it would be for race weekends. I know the Hilton offers transportation for the race and Expo but didn't see anything for BC.
There will be 5 of us so WBC would allow for all of us to room together and really save some cash on accommodations if I can talk the others into staying off property. :)

As PPs have mentioned, in regards to $, at what point does the madness stop. At some point, these race will become cost prohibitive. How were the shirts last year? Womens cut, true to size, were you able to exchange them for a different size?

This isn't going to sell out within minutes, right? It's not like buying concert tickets is it? I'm a little nervous now about not being able to register until I get home from work!

While I can't speak of staying at Bonnet Creek Wyndham, I can speak of staying off property. This year was my first PHM and we decided to brave it and stay off property because of the size of our family (four adults, one child). We needed at least two bedrooms if not three, a full kitchen (we live one county over so we pre-made our dinners in an effort to cut cost), and a pet-friendly establishment (my brother has a special needs miniature dachshund who travels everywhere with him).

We found a great little place close to Disney! Even up until the night before the half, I was a nervous wreck about traffic the next morning. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to drive over. We followed the directions from the friendly folks at the Expo (taking into consideration the road closures) and had no trouble whatsoever. I did wake up extra early to get a head start on the road and I don't regret it. I left my hotel at 2:30 to head to my friend's hotel two miles down the street. Once I picked her up, I'd say it was only 15 minutes MAX before we were being gestured into our parking spot for the run. We used the extra time to stretch, use the bathroom (a few times :rotfl:), and overall decompress and settle our nerves.

If I could do it all over again, I would in a heart beat...and that's exactly my plan for 2015. :woohoo: Hope this helps in some way!

Which shirts? The 5K was a t-shirt, unisex. It was kind of a weird fit, which is normal for unisex. The other shirts are all women's cut tech shirts. They are pretty true to size. I didn't have to exchange mine, but they do have a table where you can so that.

It didn't happen last year, but it's possible. I definitely wouldn't want to wait until the end of the day though.

I got all 4 shirts and I normally wear a large, they were a little snug. I would have prefered an XL in the womens cut for the 10K, 1/2 and GSC.
the 5K shirt was pretty standard unisex cotton T. I got a large and it was ok.

Yes you can exchange them for different sizes. I didn't because we were in a rush and I'm kicking myself.

It could. Wine and Dine, Avengers and Star Wars all sold out pretty fast. Avengers and Star Wars are new to the circuit though, so those sell outs don't surprise me. But I was shocked at how fast Wine and Dine sold out.

I agree with this. I was strongly considering doing Wine and Dine, but didn't think I needed to register immediately. I was very surprised how fast that one sold out. The Disneyland races always sell out faster. But the trend seems to be for WDW races to sell quicker than previously.

My sister wasn't sure she'd be able to register before 4, and I wasn't comfortable with that so I am registering her right at noon.

As for the t-shirts, I got the 10k, half and GSC shirts. I liked them all, though I like the color of the GSC (pale Cinderella blue) best. I got the woman's small and felt it ran true to size. I accidentally chose XS when I was rushing through preregistration for 2015, so I'm going to have to drop 10 pounds or fix that;),
