Official 24 hour celebration announcement

I am also in the camp of people who arrive on the 24th. Not much we can do there, flights already booked and my mom is graciously taking me. I'm also not sure if I would be able to stay up so late and that's okay. I'll just have to enjoy EMHs on Sunday!

Last year the majority of the park stayed open all night. It was the food places that were shutting down so be sure to get some eats in you by midnight. We found after 1am or so the park was not crowded and many "cheaters" were asleep on benches all over the park. The best parts for us were:
(1) Meeting Mickey and Minnie in their pajamas
(2) The end of night dance party in front of Castle around 4:30-5
(3) Good-bye party in Town Square
(4) Leaving on the ferry with the sun RISING

How they did it was they opened and closed some rides during the night. There was a schedule. I will scan it and upload for you. Splash was open 6am - 4 am.

wow - ive never heard of this before - and sooooo excited because ill be there 5/20-24 on my first solo trip!!!! so this means I can go to MK at like 1am and it will be open???!!! Awesomeeeeee

Big Thunder was open, I remember trying out the new queue elements that weekend. Not sure why it wasn't listed.

We were at last years 24 hour event........it was great in that we got there at 7am and jumped on the big rides right away.......could've run Space Mountain 3X in row if we wanted. Came back in the evening and it was mobbed. Main St was a complete parking lot for the fireworks......as you would expect. The problem was up at the spokes they didn't have control of the flow of the crowd. If you were on Main St you couldn't get to any of the other areas of the park...........gridlock!

Im assuming that was a miss by the Disney folks and they will (or should) have a better plan for that this coming year.

If you're an early riser the 24hour deal is great because from what we saw most people waited to come later in the day...........after say 4pm it was mob city until after midnight...........

My initial thought is I'm bummed because we are checking out on the 24th and I would love to be in Disney at 3am.....But maybe I should be glad, may be a total packed mess!

No. Leap Year 2012 they did it. Last year they did it to "kick off Monsters U" but it conveniently happened on the grand opening of the new highly anticipated Sea World exhibit. Met several who did that first then headed to MK. Glad to see it again but who knows for future.

I was at the original 24-Hour "I took the leap and didn't sleep" leap year event in Disneyland.

DS and DD did that. I dropped them at SWW at 4 am (they wanted autograph). I took a nap then went to 24 Hour. They had a blast and said it wasn't as crowded as they expected. I think because Friday and the 24 Hour event. They bused over about 5 pm to meet me. I do think this year will be more crowded at 24 Hour.

Same here! And this time it will be less than two weeks before I leave myself so I'll be all super excited!!!
